Killabilly from Lollipop Chainsaw. Final boss, takes a super long time to reduce his health (twice IIRC), and once it's empty, you have one final succession of QTEs. Press the wrong button? Whoops, you died! Back to the start!

    • @SeriousGranade

Kha'Beleth, the final boss of the vanilla Heroes of Might and Magic V story mode - you have to fight him as four separate heroes twice each for a total of 8 battles - once to break his shield with siege weapons (which can take up to several turns), and again to finish him off for good. Meanwhile, he has insane stats that make his army stupidly powerful, throws a ton of troops at you and constantly cast free spells that chip away at your entire armies every turn. Good luck winning if even one of the four heroes you fight him as has a weak build and stats. And if you do, you pretty much have to restart their entire portion of the campaign to bring them to the required level of power to keep up with him.

      @C_Arson 7 месяцев назад +7

I agree. I never fully understood why the Kirby community hates Pyribbit so much, since I never found him that obnoxious. Even with the background-hopping, the fight still only takes a couple minutes at most, which isn't horrible for the kind of game Kirby is. I could understand finding him frustrating in the Kirby Clash games since in those you're under a time limit, which makes the waiting periods more bothersome, but in Triple Deluxe, he's a fine boss in my opinion.
Then again, I never struggled that much in Triple Deluxe's arenas, so maybe that explains why Pyribbit never really got under my skin much (because I'm not fighting him repeatedly across a bunch of attempts).

I would agree with it, not due to the boss fight itself, but because I can't get past the first meeting with the Knight where you have to run on the squid trail while dodging the shield. There's one part where you have to land on the platforms above where the buzzsaw launches or you automatically die and I CANNOT MAKE THAT JUMP. Therefore, I can't make any more progress in the game. • @bigrockerending7711

Any additional thoughts I have to give:
    10) Shout-outs to the fact that the 3rd fight is already part of a Boss Rush where you're refighting a bunch of the game's other bosses as well
    9) If I remember correctly, Moldorm is a lot tamer in Link Between Worlds since falling doesn't reset its HP. Kinda makes falling more of a pointless annoyance compared to an excruciating one. Also surprised to hear no mention of his Link's Awakening counterpart since I heard he's actually quite bad in that game too, especially since he's the FIRST boss instead of the third
    8) Triple Deluxe in general is pretty guilty of bosses hiding in the background, but yeah, Pyribbit is definitely the worst of them.
    ...
    2) Honestly, as infuriating as High Max can be, it's not too hard to cheese him if you know what to do. Gate, on the other hand, doesn't offer such luxury. Also, shout-outs to the fact that if you wasted your Sub-Tanks and Life Recover against Gate (or worse, you wasted your Life Recover against High Max not knowing the stage wasn't done yet) only to be knocked into a pit, you have to start the fight over with NONE of those unless you wanna redo the WHOLE STAGE again. It's also especially sad how the Sigma fight afterward is a complete joke by comparison
HMs) For Raikou & Entei (and Suicune), I wanna give special mention to their appearance in FRLG, where do to an oversight, if they use Roar on you, the game is tricked into thinking they fainted, meaning they're completely gone unless you reload your save.
    1) ...This is literally my first time hearing about Screwball... period. I never knew she existed before this. Huh...

For New Destroymen, there is a cheese were you go behind a container were I believe the melee one fallows you over, they have a set area that they are locked to, and they don't overlap, meaning that if you take out the one New Destroyman in the corner, the others pathing will not allow it to reach the other to revive. The container also blocks the ranged New Destroyman's attacks, meaning all you have to do is be careful not to have Shinobu taunt as she disembowels the one in the corner in earshot of the other, but out their range to do anything about it. This is a tactic that I saw some people do on a LP/Walkthrough years ago.

One of mine is the Time Empress from CrisTales. She has a stupidly stron regen she can cast freely on herself. In most cases, you can only just barely outdamage the amount it heals between her turns. You have to use Cris' reset ability to change TE's status to the way it was her past turn. Which, while it removes the regen, it also setsbher HP back to the previous turn. So she still ends up healed, just less than the Regen. It becomes a battle of attrition while you whittle her health down and reset each time she recasts the regen. Oh yeah, and her favorite attack drips a single party member to 1 hp, and if you havent used the haste spell you will more than likely lose them to a party-wide attack before you can heal them.

She has insane def buffs when her nebulae are on the field (and she can spawn more), can confuse your party into ealkingvinto the puddles of Ether (aka Magic Poison) around the arena, and resists physical attacks. Amd every 5 seconds you'll hear "You'll pay for yiur insolence!"

And let's all take a moment to acknowledge that the Nebulas never returned as an enemy for the rest of the Xenoblade series. Not only are they the classic case of "screw you out of EXP by blowing up", but they're also serious damage sponges, which means if they try to blow themselves up, they will very likely succeed because you aren't able to kill them quick enough.
You ask the Xenoblade fanbase who they despise the most, 9 out of 10 times, they will say Lorithia. Even ChuggaaConroy, possibly the biggest diehard Xenoblade fan, utterly resents her.
Honestly, I'm wondering if her boss fight was made bad on purpose, just to make her that much easier to hate.

    • @bluestreaker9242
      @bluestreaker9242 7 месяцев назад +2

Can confirm. While there are arguably more annoying fights in the series, Lorithia's is the worst for all that and the fact that the ideal way to fight her is to either grind 5-10 levels above her lvl...OOOOR...fight her as Melia, the squishy wizard of the group. Sure, you can find ways to make her NOT squishy, but in so doing you're kinda not optimizing her DPS potential, which, in some setups, can be RIDICULOUSLY overpowered: I remember seeing a video of someone who set up a chain attack with her in the party where they felled Avalanche Abaasy with her flame elemental's residual burn damage and Dunban's bleed damage...freaking MELTED the STRONGEST SUPERBOSS IN THE GAME!! But yeah, much as I found certain bosses like Jin, Amalthus, Malos, Tainted Sphinx, Vita, Metal Face, Jade Face, etc. rather annoying to fight, they were at least decently challenging. Key word: challenge. Lorithia isn't challenging, she's just an annoyingly difficult boss fight following on from a character who I honestly couldn't give two shits about because we know diddly-prick about her aside from how much she wants us to pay for our insolence (her and Flame Hyenard must be drinking buddies when they're off the clock). >.>

    Dishonorable Mentions:
*Mitch Conner - South Park: The Fractured But Whole
-Depending on your strategy, this can either be smooth sailing or an insanely frustrating fight. Let's focus on the latter first.
This fight is basically the equivalent of a kid on the playground going "Nuh-uh, didn't hurt me, I'm immune!" All throughout the fight, Mitch Connor will cheat any chance he can. He'll afflict the party with any status effect, give himself extra turns, steal YOUR turn if you take too long, pull up deflector shields which'll uno-reverse card any damage he takes, and most annoyingly of all, just randomly declare at various points throughout the battle that your last attack just DIDN'T DAMAGE HIM! In other words, he takes damage whenever he feels like it! It gets even worse in his rematch at the end of the game because now a second Mitch Connor from an alternate universe will redirect any damge dealt to him back at the other Connor and both of them will revive themselves endlessly so that the fight goes on forever! Eventually, even the game (and Dr. Timothy) gets fed up with this and Dr. Timothy just takes away Connor's abillity to cheat.
There is however, a way to make the battle smooth sailing. Just stack as many damaging status conditions as possible on him and bleed him out. He can declare that he didn't take damage from certain attacks but he can't heal his own status conditions.
    *Parace L'Sia - Arcana Hearts 3
-Do not be fooled by this sexy elf, she will be the bane of your existence. Powerful super attacks, long and devastating combos, and apparently she's so hard the game starts taking pity on you and she starts losing more and more HP after your 3rd loss. There's a reason why Quarter Guy holds a grudge against this boss.
*Shao Khan - Mortal Kombat Series
    -"KHAAAAAAN!!!"
His wrath hammer can cause so much hit stun that he can stunlock you to death, he's built like a tank on steroids, and of course, his constant taunting. He's easily at his worst in MK9's 300th challenge because he ceases all taunting, but he's even more aggressive. And ELDER GODS HELP YOU if you get hit by his X-Ray Move. One, it's unblockable, and two, it's capable of taking TWO THIRDS OF YOUR HEALTH BAR!!!
*Various Eggman Bosses - Sonic Series
    -"Get a load of THIS!"
"You know what they say, the more the merrier!"
The sad part is Eggman has some great bosses, it's just that some of them have instances where he NEVER SHUTS UP! And some of those voice lines are tied to attacks that he spams more often than any of his other attacks, combined!
*Whitney - Pokemon Gold and Silver/Heartgold and Soulsilver.
-It's that Miltank. It's tanky and fast, has stomp to make you flinch, attract which makes pokemon of the opposite gender less likely to attack (which is ESPECIALLY frustrating given the MASSIVE male slant in the starters AND the fact that Miltank is always female), Milk Drink to heal itself, and rollout, which hits for 5 turns at max and doubles in power every time it lands. And in the remakes, it has the abillity, scrappy, making it able to hit your ghost-types AND is holding a status-curing lum berry. You best bring a rock or steel-type like a magnemite since they're genderless and have good defense. Or focus on other strategies like defenses, statuses, and evasion.
*Bed Of Chaos - Dark Souls
-I get the idea of wanting to think outside the box with boss designs but MAN it's very clear that Dark Souls WASN'T DESIGNED with platforming in mind! At least Elden Ring gave you a freaking jump button. For context, you need to destroy the two cores on the sides of the Bed of Chaos to clear the barrier around it, once that happens, jump onto the root and destroy the bug inside the brambles. The problem is that once you destroy a core, the floor will collapse and the boss gains new attacks like flaming scythes and fire pillars. But the sweeping arms are the worst part. If he sweeps you into the holes, you auto-fail! At least the cores don't reset if you leave the room.
    *Gigginox - Monster Hunter Series
-There are many I could list, whether it's Khezu, Plesioth, Rajang, take your pick. My pick for most annoying boss is the Gigginox. It shares many similarities to the Khezu, namely the fact that it NEVER. SHUTS. UP. It will spams roars to no end, in fact, I think both the Gigginox AND Khezu spam roars more frequently than all of their other attacks, COMBINED! For the uninitiated, monster roars are loud enough to stun the hunter in place, the only way to negate it is with the earplug skill (HG Earplugs for stronger roars). It also has a habit of crawling on the ceiling and poisoning hunters. And it has a subspecies, The Baleful Gigginox, which swaps out the poison for paralysis.
    *Okatsu - Nioh
-The thing is, the bosses in Nioh can easily be cheesed by using Sloth Talismans. When thrown at an enemy, they'll slow their speed. But even with Sloth Talismans, Okatsu is still frustrating to fight because she is so spastic, erratic and annoyingly fast. So nailing her with one is easier said than done.
    *Royal Revenant -Elden Ring
-I know it may seem cheap putting a miniboss on here, but even by miniboss standards this boss is CHEAP AS HELL! Revenants can teleport, spit poison, hit several times in a single combo, and are RELENTLESSLY STRONG, FAST AND AGGRESSIVE! Their one saving grace is that if you use a healing incantation when near one, they'll take significant damage, be stunned and be left wide open for a critical hit.
*Zhang Rang - Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty
-It's very clear that Wo Long WASN'T designed with gank bosses in mind! If you defeat a clone, you'll dent his posture and give you and opportunity for a critical hit. The problem is that when you defeat all his clones, Zhang Rang will fight you solo for a brief period, then resummon ALL OF THEM! Even with an AI partner, this is one of the most frustrating bosses in the game, and that's a game with bosses as hard as Xiang Liang, General of Man (the game's cruel first boss, it was SO tempting to put HIM on the list instead) and Lu Bu. However, there is a workaround, if you leave at least one clone alive, he'll never respawn his posse.

    2. And after enduring an annoying as hell battle, Sigma is pathetically easy! High Max is also annoying because he's also immune to ALL OF YOUR ATTACKS! The only way to damage him is to hit him with Blaze Heatnix's weapon after hitting him with a fully charged buster shot.

    Some of my personal picks:
Ascended/Radiant/PoH Markoth - Hollow Knight (take an already annoying boss, remove the floor, and leave your only means of standing in the form of platforms with slippery edges)
Delirium - Binding of Isaac Afterbirth+/Repentance (random bs combined with telefragging. good luck trying to beat him as the Lost or the Baleful!)
Okumura - Persona 5 (the fact that one of the waves has a single enemy with buffed defense means that, unless you cancel it out, you won't be able to beat all of them at once, thus prolonging the fight that's already on a time limit. not to mention the semifinal wave and the ridiculously strong aoe attack)
Piedmon round 2 - Digimon Survive (on your first playthrough of the game, you won't have access to mega level at the point you fight him, and with the second round specifically, you don't have access to any of the other main characters. so if you happen to be lacking in terms of free/recruit digimon, don't have an optimal type matchup with your Agumon evolution that's already one level below Piedmon, or are severely underlevelled? well, good luck.)

Gate's a fine fight. It's very positioning-heavy, and since both Gate and his orbs rely on your position/movement, just making it so an orb is guaranteed to hit him/there were no shards caused by the orbs would defeat the whole purpose of the fight. Not to mention that on average, he takes 2 minutes to beat. Fights like MM7 Wily, X1 Sigma or X8's final trio take 5-7 minutes to beat if counting all phases, and those are rather unexciting as is. Even from a no damage perspective, I'd take him over many fights, particularly stuff like Launch Octopus, Burn Rooster or Snipe Anteator.
(and High Max is not bad either)

I still think the MJ missions are worse cause Spider-Man could’ve done any of those missions on his own or it could’ve just been a cutscene. I mean, why does MJ have to point out which villian to take out stealthily? Peter has eyes!

Ruler of the sky is one of the bosses on this list I've actually fought. That was by far ridiculously annoying. It wasn't even difficult. Just a pain in the rear.

glad I'm not the only one who dislikes glumstone, I actually have a different problem with the fight, and that's the geese attack. You're supposed to go down to hide from the attack, but you also have to worry about gnomes popping out of the ground when you walk on it after a very short time, and the gnomes that already spawn shooting bullets and stuff don't make it easier, but sometimes towards the end of the first phase, he'll have gotten rid of enough platforms that the only remaining platforms will have been high enough for the geese to hit you.
I do not like that geese attack

I have had some Baldur's Gate 3 boss fights I had to reset several times so I can get the right outcome. It's like pushing a massive rock up a hill only for that rock to slide back down and smack me in the face... Then reset to do. It. AGAIN. Love the game but those bosses are no joke

oh, just yesterday i re-watched a video about "super mario sticker star".
terrible mechanics to begin with, AND the final boss has FIVE phases!
trying to beat him without a guide would be absurdly hard.
AND just before that is a terribly frustrating boss that messes up your inventory, forcing you to waste a bunch of valuable items!

I have so many issues with the fact The Knight made it into both the thumbnail and honorable mentions (and the fact that an honorable mention was used as the thumbnail), you didn't once mention THE TRIAL, which would actually deserve an honorable mention, as it's not technically a real boss, but rather a Boss Rush. BUT, by the logic used with Gate's entry, where the lead up to the boss gave Them the spot on the list, by that same logic The Final Boss of Sonic Frontier's story expansion should have made one of the top two spots, Since By the time most players would reach there, they'd already most likely be done with the game by that point. (even me who has it as their favorite game, I think the story expansion overstays it's welcome a little) even after all of that you reach the boss, fight them, probably lose the first time, look up a guide cuz at this point you're not dealing with the game anymore, only to find out the boss relies on a mechanic that isn't present ANYWHERE else in the game!
And you gave the THUMBNAIL and honorable mention to what can only be described as: 6 seconds of a boss fight, which can be completely avoided.
I wouldn't even be writing this comment if it wasn't clickbaited in the thumbnail. hell, you could have said Wyvern and I'd probably be more okay with that, half of that fight is literally just MANDATORY waiting, even during the trial, I think The Wyvern shows more of its flaws under the scrutiny of the Perfect Perry mechanic INSIDE of a Boss Rush then The Knight does, don't even talk about Giganto ,they're actually kind of fun under the perfect Perry. On top of all that, wyvern has easily the worst climbing section of all three bosses, wyverns animations are definitely the most unintuitive to Perry, they're also all really long, and once you've done the missile section more than three times, it really starts to show the Fatal flaws in it.
there's enough wrong with that boss alone (as well as the whole trial) to give it its own video.

Gate can be completely cheesed by just going back and forth between 2 platforms, hang on the wall every time you destroy the balls with a charged saber

I'd like to give a personal honorable mention to Shrieking Legiana, from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. It's already a frustrating fight, but its core mechanic is that it summons another full-strength monster. These two overlap attacks all the time, roar constantly, answer each others calls every time, and can just choose to ignore the item that's supposed to slip them up. It's not hard, once you have gear on the right level, but it's incredibly frustrating and your first encounter with one is in a circumstance where the designers are basically admitting the fight is BS.

23:19 Fun fact. I tried to catch Raikou in Crystal about two summers ago. It took 5 days of multi-hour sessions to catch it. In fact, thanks to the 3DS’ activity log I know exactly how long it took. *30 HOURS*

You should do a bad optional bosses list. I would rank dustflier above Julius in terribleness. - the only way to do ANY non single-digit damage to his maxed out stats is to spam thunder magic and hope that the shadows near it happen to A) get the static debuff B) NOT touch ANYTHING and C) shamble into the tail of a boss that only stays still for maybe 3 seconds at a time (as opposed to going underground and randomly appearing miles away from him). The static debuff removes a full bar from his health, but Dustflier itself is completely imune to debuffs, so this quirky interaction is the only way to make things easier. But its so inconsistant that just doing single-digit damage is usually just as fast!
