It rarely to never gets mentioned that stumbling across a quality game on bootleg has led to me purchasing a retail or CE copy MANY times! No one wanna talk about the positive side of bootleggin.... searching for gems that are actually worth the buy 😎👍
I have steam copies of many games but I use their high seas version since they require no always-online-DRM nor some $hitty external launchers (yes, Im looking at you Rockstar).
I wish they did the World Championship games or the Tag Force series But everytime we get a Yu-Gi-Oh game with the old anime cast it's always a 2D card game with some 3D monsters The only new YGO game where we can explore is that stupid Rush Duel game :/
At least they remember you. Us Bloody Roar fans are still missing out for almost 20 years! At least Silent Hill and MGS are coming back in some compacity.
cyberpunk2077 modders are talented af too, was mind blown to see that they even made a language solely designed for scripting in the game itself & it was done in rust... scripts are the best, especially if yknow how to code them.
@@integrak5609idk Capcom sunk hella money and love into Resident Evil 4 remake and that games damn near perfect best looking game I think I ever played. I don’t see Konami doing the same for silent hill but we can only hope lol
@@keanureeves9802 well I still love original. God it scared me so bad as a teenager, I didn't touch it for a few years 🤣 the remakes are just 👌they nailed it. Also it sets the standard for others. So I'm just slightly hoping konami took notes! Just a tiny bit of hope 🤣
They'll probably remake it, down the line, with RE2 being the furthest of examples in quality. Konami is all about scamming the simple folks, has been for years now.
@bornnoir crazy how little Konami tries at everything. I'm genuinely scared of how Delta and SH2 are going to turn out, considering they thought this was acceptable
All the talent really did leave Konami when Kojima left. Not to say that Kojima was the only talent there, but when he left, everyone who has talent or influence to back up that talent and passion seemed to have went with him.
@@PrinceSoph I'm not disrespecting the creative teams. The creative teams definitely want to make a good port, but I imagine Konami doesn't want to give them any time or money. That's why I said "or INFLUENCE to BACK UP that talent". You can be as talented as you want and not be able to say anything if your boss says no and you can't back-talk him.
@@TheSonicfanx1 looked at how the higher up treated Kojima and his team in the end. I think those suits are psycho and stupid. They don't respect any of their IP and talents, much less about fans. I don't believe those guys are capable of making any competent product. They are ranked lower than EA for me, maybe around Unity level bad.
Yep. And what baffles me even more is that some of these companies are so actively opposed to preservation. It's like they want the games they made to completely disappear.
@@Grayald Not like, a lot of companies actually want old games to disappear, so they can sell you new consoles and new games. Games that mostly sucks and not even close to 15-25 year old games in terms of fun and creativity factors. At least some of them are making proper remasters and remake because a) they are actually good and they are proud to preserve them b) their new games sucks but they can't make a new one.
When a rich Game Studio failed miserably than the Emulators and Mods ever did with the game to port it into modern times, you know the today and age's Game Studios are incompetent...
The Silent Hill HD Collection did face challenges, and it's true that the development team had to work with incomplete versions of Silent Hill 2 and 3 due to issues with the source code. This led to various technical problems and changes in the games' presentation. However, opinions on who is at fault for the issues can vary among fans and developers. Spoilers, it was Konami 😎
Three worst Konami atrocities of this century: • terrible abuse of their employees • TERRIBLE ABUSE OF THEIR EMPLOYEES • the new Bomberman doesn’t let you choose which multiplayer mode you want to play; it literally force-picks one for you, hoooly s*** you guys I am _so_ salty about this hahaha
What they did to kojima and igarashi was sad. Kojima probably makes one of the most insane horror games ever if they just funded silent hill. Then they make metal gear survive, just to spit on kojima. At least they both went on to make good games and everyone still hates konami
@@raisou9750lol. Shareholders don’t give a crap. When you get a bit older or research how companies operate it’s to squeeze each person. They don’t care 1 bit about you. Look at what the highest death rate is in the US. Hint: it’s game ending and one way of doing with rhymes with hope and goes around your neck.
Metal gear for ps1 was a maturing point for 6th grade me. You weren't just playing a game like you were with Mario. You were experiencing a story in a way that a game never did before. Mgs will always have a special place in my heart
MGS on the PS1 was one of those games I played for a bit growing up but hit a wall I couldn't get past so I gave up, being that nobody I knew owned the game so I had nobody to learn from. Internet was in its fledgling days so there wasn't an abundance of guides. Flashforward to the gamecube era and Twin Snakes was the first time I was able to complete the game, multiple times even. I have since replayed it via the PS Classic/downloadable copy and completed it. Definitely an experience best gone in blind, knowing the story and the twists just ruins the overall experience.
The Silent Hill situation, after watching Matt McMuscles's video, I felt really bad for the developers. They did their best given the situation and tools available to them.
Matt was way kinder to TH than was warranted. Todd was a horrible PR guy and, at worst, a complete liar. His attempts to rewrite the scripts for SH2 and 3 are unforgivable.
I recommend Twin Perfect’s two-parter on the SH HD Collection, which goes even greater in depth on how little regard Hijinks and Konami had for the games. Even the damn VAs (under order from Tom Huelett, no doubt) doing the new Re-recordings “necessary” for the games, Troy Baker and M McG, were doing damage control over the bad work done and making justifications for why THEIR VERSIONS are better than the older ones. Huelett even tried writing a new script for it to “modernize the experience” 😒 It screams to me that Konami always meant to do it the cheapest possible way and have the people working on them run interference.
I have played the Silent Hill HD collection recently through backwards compatibility, and it really isn’t that bad. It is incredibly hard to tell there is anything wrong, unless you compare the games back to back.
The button icon change is a Sony certification thing. What surprised me is that they change on PC when plugging in different controllers. Most brand new AAA games can't even get that right.
The whole thing is all over the place. Like you said, a lot of the features and extras in the collection are decent and show someone gave a crap, like being able to play around with virtual save data to trigger all of Psycho Mantis' dialogue. But other aspects of the collection are bizarrely half-assed.
Just fired up MGS3 on the Switch. The loading screen after their new start screen (where you choose the game version, etc) actually has the logo for the HD Collection from 2011. This could've been Konami's redemption arc, doing good by their arguably best franchise. Still, Konami lives up to the Fuckonami name.
It's insane too because it seems they literally had 4 people work on the collection and had everyone work on delta because the in engine footage looks great
@@FineCurryfor me, it’s just the lack of charm that the old trailers had. It feels more like a forced “yes, the thing you want is actually real. Now shut up”
Yugioh has also been getting screwed in games. The modern yugioh games that you have to buy for have literally been rip offs as it's the same game, but they've been adding in a few new card and changing the title and calling it a new game. Which is yugioh 5ds decade duel, which turned to duel duel generation which turned to millennium duel which turned to legacy duelist. What's worse is that the graphics get worse too 😭. People buying these games and it selling well is the reason we'll never get something like the tag force games again or an actual 3d yugioh game like the one for the 3ds that we never got.
I was super hyped for this. I fully expected it to be a lazy project, but at the very least these games should look "clean" on 1080p. Hopefully one day they decide to do some upgrading (highly unlikely), but if they do I'll instantly purchase it, even without a sale.
I remember Kojima leaving Konami because of how they treated him. Also the MGS "remaster" is a ps1 iso and a shitty emulator on the disc hence why it has so many graphic issues.
Well Kojima x Konami... Konami kept increasing the budget for MGS5, and Kojima was constantly behind on subsequent milestones and did not meet the deadlines. In the end, all the bitterness came to an end and Konami got angry. It's the same in any other job. I'm not defending Konami because I consider them scum, but it's always worth looking at the other side of the coin.
@calmarfps - ... you ARE defending them. Konami treated Kojima badly WAY before MGS5 was being developed. They were spying on and controlling of employees going back to the NES days, it turns out. You defended Konami corporate..... 🤡
@@TexasHollowEarthYeah... What he's talking about is how the whole Konami and Kojima situation wasn't as black and white at "Konami is to blame" or "Kojima is to blame" when in reality both of them are to blame. Dude wanted to end the series after 2? Good, then let other people work on MGS3 and renounce whatever work they'll end up doing. Konami wanted to milk the franchise but it's not like Kojima wasn't always there just to do it anyways.
I’m afraid if sales reflect too poorly this will only further Konami to exit the medium in its entirety. From what I’ve read/heard in the past, they have little interest in AAA game development when there is high risk/cost in development vs potential profits compared to pachinko and mobile games. MGS has likely been their top performing game franchise and if this game and Snake Eater Delta flop, we may not see a return of the series anytime soon…wish they would just sell their IPs to Sony and give the games the respect they deserve.
Funny thing ost, most of the veterans who worked on the series are already out of the company, they don't have anybody with equivalent skills to ensure they can even do a collection justice. Konami cares more about pachinkos than console games in their own game division.
I don’t disagree with you guys you only have to look at Disney’s Star Wars and MCU to see how bad it can get when you’re producing for profits/merch over an actual vision. I don’t think there’s really much left of Snake/BB’s story to tell, but would appreciate giving Kojima a chance to give a final send off remaking the original metal gear 1 / 2 stories (perhaps combing the two) to flesh out character arcs leading up to MGS1. However, I’m more concerned with series like Castlevania, silent hill, etc going away entirely. There’s still a lot of potential for those franchises IMO

@mariaangel991 it should be noted that the director of the first and upcoming movie is the reason why we're getting new games. He convinced Konami that the series was worth continuing. Honestly, after rewatching the first film after hating it for years I realized it's not half bad, revelations is terrible though but that was a different director

I think when game companies bundle classics like this they should not only give you the vanilla version of the game like this for authenticity and nostalgia but also give you options like we saw in the fan emulation version.
Was gonna make the exact same comment, what was shown in this video via "DuckStation" should be available (Higher Res/FPS, Cleared up texture warping etc.) but they'd probably ONLY include that, I'd still like to experience the original 4:3 "Assy" PS1 graphics and stuff cause I grew up playing games during that Era and I actually enjoy going back to them still (and I don't mind how it looks on modern displays, I'm also from Australia and so play the PAL Versions of said games and it's never an issue to me 🤷♂️ I grew up with them though, as I said, so it's what I know... Some games are actually Easier/Harder in their PAL State so it's optimal for me to have the option of playing those Versions regardless)
Higher resolutions are nice, but I actually find the shifty graphics in PS1 games rather charming. Having everything be a checkbox you can turn on/off would be cool.
@@scottthewaterwarrior Seriously it would be stellar to have a checkbox for various upscaling settings. I'd been replaying some old ridge racer titles on retroarch last week and just having the option to see the wonky textures with standard res over a decent crt filter for the charm and then over to a cleaned up native 4k widescreen hack? I was seeing text and logos i couldn't even make out before on vehicles and landscape. It was like finding easter eggs lol.
GTA Trilogy, Red Read Redemption, and now Metal Gear; It's a shame some companies are just opting for lazy cash grabs vs taking the time to do it right for the community.
With the GTA Trilogy and RDR it’s mixed cause Rockstar I think have good priorities making new content which would be GTA 6 otherwise they would’ve just made them remasters themselves. They look like projects Take Two threw at them, Rockstar seems they didn’t want to do it and another studio just done a half assed job which should’ve got more quality control.

The one bright side of the Master Collection is that MGS 2 and 3 are actually natively ported code, meaning it'll be really easy to mod those into a better state, add proper keyboard and mouse support, etc.
@@Alex_Logan22 MGS1 was not only emulated, but was also seems to be ROM hacked in some way, to replace some text such as this "6:54", which mentioned the PS4/5 touchpad.
The biggest issue I have is with MGS3 on PS4. Since the triggers are pressure sensitive, you have to hold them down really hard to keep the item and weapon windows open. The item and weapon windows flicking constantly when I try to use them is kind of ruining the experience of one of my favourite games.. So thanks for that, Konami
I understand Mutahar can't really say the name of sites that offer the ROMs so we can emulate the games, but certainly he can say the names of the sites so we can KNOW TO AVOID THEM AND PAY MONEY FOR THE REAL DEVS. like, I would hate to find a place with quality ROMs that are so trustworthy and make such a good job that I end up not supporting the official releases
@@tomjones6347 ah, thanks, fellow gamer, now I know the name of a place to avoid. gonna keep it in mind from now on and not visit at all in the future, not even accidentally
I'm not going to say where I redd it, but I've heard there's a megathread full of links to some kind of archive on the internet that has all the ROMs and ISOs. Seems like shady business that you should probably avoid if you're an honest person who wants to pay devs and such.
Have you noticed their dirty tactics at damage control, by releasing the gameplay reveal trailer for Delta? The trailer looks gorgeous and there is a giant wave of optimism surrounding it, they are effectively burying all the criticism about the Master Collection
They released the gameplay trailer on an Xbox third party livestream, so it was planned to release this trailer right after the Master Collection launch
That and porting all these games to all the current platforms really softens the blow of doing a lazy job. I mean, really, what average Xbox fanboy is going to question anything about this Metal Gear Collection? Especially Nintendo fans who haven't seen a single game since the GameCube remake of MGS1.
Konami? Being terrible? Never! And you’re forgetting the part of Silent Hill HD collection where that version of SH2 spoils the whole game within 30 minutes because the developers had to use a forked Beta version since Konami was being an ass.
@@cluckendipKonami didn't have the final version of the game, with the source code, game textures, sounds, etc. So what they did is send the devs an older version that lacked the final polish.
I gotta say, the juxtaposition of "you can still jerk off a snake" followed immediately by "none of the game's charm has been removed" hit me like a truck lmao
As a new metal gear fan, here's honest opinion from me: the collection DOES its job - attracts new fans(which im sure there are quite plenty of, after MGRR's popularity spike which essentialy brough the franchise back) to this awesome game franchise, and makes the games available for modern hardware. Also MGS has a few versions bundled to it(VR missions and other stuff), each game has multiple language packs you can use. Yeah, there are inaccuracies here and there(fd up particles in mgs2, washed out colors in mgs3) but these are so minor that they are UNNOTICABLE, except if you LOOK FOR THEM. I don't really get your problem with instructions and the lack of them - instructions are essentially useless in this day and age for games, and the games are absolutely completable without them. Also, the collection IS getting fixed over time - as example the recent(relatively recent) game patch for MGS - settings menu has been fleshed out, and you can customize the game's resolution, scaling, filtering and other stuff, so no blurriness anymore. Plus, not getting your problem with jagged edges and texture warping in MGS - they(konami) are PORTING the games, not remastering them. Its exactly how a PSX game WOULD, SHOULD, AND looks like. You want graphical upgrades? Go play Twin Snakes, leave game preservation alone. The collection runs WAY better than any emulation you can do so far, atleast for me. Had great experience with it, and will wait for the full PC/console port of MGS4 in Vol.2. Most of the resolution issues with other games are easily fixable with mods, and im pretty sure will eventually be officially added when Vol.2 comes out. Pricing wise I can't really say anything - Konami blocked my country out of buying master collection legally, so you know, sailing the digital sea again. Honestly, it feels like most of the people in this fanbase just developed hatred for Konami after they dared to get rid of the "the best all mighty Kojima". Yeah, they got rid of him, get over it. Someone will eventually take his place as a new metal gear writer(of course if they are considering making new games), plus the main development team is still there - the exact same people that developed these games you love(Yeah, metal gear is not only Kojima's hard work, surprising, right?), even the legendary David Hayter. Not defending a greedy multibillionare game company, but im not siding with the Kojima buttlickers either.
As someone who has never played these games before, I find it massively annoying when I'm trying to figure out if I want to buy and play it and the reviews are negative only because of technical shit. Like honestly Steam should have a different category of review for that type of shit, I just wanted to learn about the games themselves on the bundles but nooooo nerds gotta complain that it aint perfect, which I'm not surprised I can't think of any rerelease or port in recent memory that wasn't bombarded with negative reviews due to bad optimization _only_
I recently got the legacy collection on ps3. I feel bad for anybody who buys this. Kids and teens are literally growing up in the scummiest era of gaming. I really hope it gets better.
Agreed, it's funny how the Legacy collection is the best way to play these games officially, yeah not everyone owns a ps3, but we do, and I own that very collection. I'd probably consider getting the master collection for switch....when it's on sale, just so I can play metal gear solid portability.
This whole drama around Master Collection was what got me to finally dive into the series and fire up MGS1 via emulation and I'm having some really great time.
There was an entire 200+ video playlist filled with released and unreleased music for Metal Gear Solid GZ and PP that is no where to be found now that i am looking for it again. Poor guy probably got Content ID'd to oblivion. Then I find Muta uploads this and i read the title to find i couldn't agree more now than ever!
Did the channel use color filters with the same background image in the videos? Did it have german words in the title/description? And separated tracks by level 1, level 2 and extended that even though they were the same track? If it is, I also miss it. Specially for Allegiance defined. That channel had the 45 seconds that play in-game but not on the official ost release without the game sounds and voices. I'm making a playlist with everything ost related to metal gear's main games, but it's a work in progress, in case you want to check it out.
Right? It was literally just the same game, optional bad voice update, for more modern consoles. All we were paying for was to play it on a modern console.
On my fat modded PS3 i still can't play Sh3 in the sewers. It crashes or fps drops like crazy before crashing. But I can play it through emulation just fine on the same console. It's crazy.
It's crazy how many releases nowadays are just crappier remakes/remasters/ports of older classic games, and even crazier how still so many people buy them and settle for the laziness/mediocrity.
Also the Castlevania Requiem collection which bundles the original Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night is actually just the unlockable versions of both the games from the PSP remake of Rondo which was called Dracula X Chronicles. It even has almost all the same menu options. All they really did was just cut out the remake when they put the collection on PS4.
The collection is great now, get it! It now supports changing resolution, full controller support, fixed M&K support, and a lot of fixes since this video.
Just so you know, Most people in france had the PAL playstation, i never seen with my own eyes a Secam playstation and a Secam game. Secam started way before PAL, stay for a long time but was replaced by PAL eventually when all the french brand needed to adapt. And the 50hz thing is for me memorable, cause we were able to select 60hz on the gamecube, and it was the first question we asked our buddy when we brought our consoles from an house to another "bro does your TV take 60hz ? Double Dash is waaaayyyy better at 60hz !"
Man, I'm just happy someone remembers ACID and ACID 2. Banger games somehow translate the stealth action of Metal Gear into a Board Game-ish card based format. It's not for everyone, but it was for me.
I was sheltered as a child and missed out on these gems, surprised they worked on some things, but fell short on quality and creature comfort. I imagine if your trying to rake in cash on a rerelease, that they would dump some money into their "new" baby for max profit . PCX2 here we come!
one of my greatest dreams is that one day Sony strong arms konami, kicking and screaming, into selling them the MGS IP ( i don't know how, but i would not be against the yakuza being involved at this point). Then Sony gives the IP rights back to Kojima studios who then release a continuation of MGS5 or goes straight into a remake of 1980s Metal Gear and then a proper MGS1 remake (not to mention other newer games). One can only dream.....
When I saw this release, I thought "Oh hey, I do not own MGS1 yet, could be cool." Then watched this video, and remembered the HD collection on 360 is in my collection. Just going to get a PS classic instead (since I want one for my collection anyways), and I will have all the games besides MGS4. Still need to own it even if my current systems can not play it. Thanks for the info, really appreciate it.
12:00 not really, Konami is not "adding filters" , the emulator they're using has bad framebuffering emulation, so everytime a "special effect" appears on screen (and MGS1 has a lot of them, more than any other PS1 game I'm aware of), it just gets pixelated a lot, so when this happens it looks even more low-res than the actual PS1 version.
The only thing that surprises me is that they actually put in some effort with the easter eggs. I knew it would be a lazy cash grab but was expecting worse. The real burning question is how did they deal with providing Meryl's codec frequency in MGS1?
id look it at this way: its not a full cashgrab because the developers obviously cared about the series. its fucked up knowing how badly the employees are getting abused, konami is squandering their talent
For the size increase, all I can think is the game is being emulated and they made their own in house emulators that are super bulky. But peace walker is about 1.3gb so if they got that up to 6gb all I can think is they upscaled the textures or something or that's the most overbloated emulator ever created.
What more can I say about Konami? They may have done some great games like Metal Gear, Contra, Castlevania and their collaboration of Yu Gi Oh with Shonen Jump for the advertisement for selling cards, but shit everything about them now is just... An L.
Konami have been dead to me, ever since they cancelled P.T. (Silent Hills) and I still used to watch AlphaOmegaSin. 😅 His catchphrase from all the way back in the day against Konami still applies!
Don't say we have emulators to run MGS4 literally it's almost unplayable for the time being. The game freezes randomly even with the patch and crashing sometimes. Yeah RPCS3 team are legends and great at what they're doing but the game is still "almost unplayable" Before you jump. RTX 3090 Ti - R9 5950X - 32gb RAM 3600Mhz
Tbh the game was way over budget and past the deadline so it's obvious that they had some disputes. A company can't really delay their main source of income forever. I imagine all this cost is what made Konami focus on mobile games and slots, low cost high profit
@@rahularora301Actually ☝️🤓 the issue was bigger. MGS wasn't the main source of income, it was a mobile game called dragon something, developed in less than a year made more money than the whole MGS franchise. This is why they treated Kojima bad. They lost more money than what they were going to make for the game.

We are pretty lucky that the Castlevania, Contra, and TMNT collections are as solid as they are. They make this MG collection even more baffling, though. Konami should know better!
Contra collection is a bad buggy experience with controller barely working with stupid button mapping where I can't remap the damn menu button so I don't actually open it when playing contra.
@Sarahm2261 Huh, interesting. Granted, I haven't played the Contra collection or the Castlevania collections yet. I want to get to them someday, though. I'll look for more reviews later. I have played the TMNT Cowabunga Collection, though, and that's probably one of the best classic game collections that money could buy, period. 13 well emulated games with regional releases, loads of concept art, and the complete soundtracks for all 13 of the games, not just a selection. Heck, you can watch full playthroughs of the games from the developers and jump in to play them yourself at any time. That is honestly so cool, and I don't think I've seen any other classic game collection that allows you to do that. The craziest thing is that The Cowabunga Collection is only $40! That makes the MGS Master collection look even more underwhelming with its mediocre emulation and lower amount of content overall for the price of $60 USD, along with it being just 1 volume. If it was $30-$40, it would still probably not be the best, but it would be fine. But at $60, I'd expect at least a bit more bonus content if we couldn't get more games (concept art, the original instruction manuals and the full soundtracks, ect.), and better emulation, even if they're bigger games overall than the games in Konami's other collections for this generation.
Currently they do not work properly even on Steam Deck, but just recently Valve made an update to Proton Hotfix to fix some problems in it so ya could use that, but you need to use a guide to get the audio working as they are still working on fixing that one as well.
The only reason I bought this is because of nostalgia. I was so happy when they released this. So I’m a sucker and I have no self control. Thanks for the informative video as always!
It's definitely not as bad as the Silent Hill remasters. They really did do the bare minimum here to make a passing product. It's not terrible but it's not great either. Like Muta said, it's a slap in the face for long-time fans of the games but perfectly passable to someone just getting into the series.
@@canoshizrocks i remember playing MGS1 on a demo disc back on the first PlayStation. Then years later on the PS2 playing MGS3 on another demo disc and being super into those games. It’s a joy to own it yknow lol. But I never got the chance to own the OG Silent Hill games 😞
So I worked as a developer at Ubisoft and worked with some of Far Cry "Remasters". Yes, the buttons change you mentioned are a part of the certification process.
The work for porting MGS4 to PC was confirmed as already pretty much done, they had a working version at the time of MGS4's release. You can actually see it in 'Metal Gear Arcade', its essentially just metal gear online 2 developed for japanese arcades, which ran on what was essentially just standard PC hardware. You would imagine Konami still has access to this port and it need minimal polish to get working on a modern windows 11 system. Then again.... will they even put that much effort in? Or just sell a copy of RPCS3 with MGS4 on it and call it a day.....
I’d be surprised if Mutahar wasn’t aware of what Metal Gear Arcade is, but to be completely honest, for the sake of his whole “re-releasing MGS4 would be impossible” narrative, I think him neglecting to mention it wasn’t an accident. Either way, modern studios still scoff at any architecture that isn’t strictly x86 these days which is probably why the Switch ports of MGS2 and 3 being 30FPS was deemed acceptable, so it’s still somewhat up in the air how a full new MGS4 port would turn out.
I'd say the outdated controls would turn new players off more than the 720p. I bet the Tomb Raider remasters will be updating the controls in addition to the graphics and performance.
I am curious if MGS 4 is in Vol 2 of the Master Collection how they are going to handle the parts of MGS 4 that utilized the Sixaxis feature on the PS3 controller. If memory serves there were a few parts you needed to use that feature but its been a while since I last played MGS 4.
It will be. Some Reddit user actually showed the leak and said that Vol 2 will include Phantom Pain, Ground Zeroes, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and MGS: Peace Walker (no sign of Portable Ops unless they confirm it later on down the line) There are rumors that Resurgeance (the spinoff title with Raiden set after Metal Gear Solid 4) is going to be added, but...imo I'd rather add Portable Ops+ instead.

I remember when Konami tried to compete against Gran Turismo, once called enthusia a racing game that it had amazing car physics that they were replicating the entire physics of their counterparts can perform which that was so awesome but unfortunately it kind of sucks not that has become greedy, rich, anti-consumer laziness, and just keep making remasters of their famous titles instead of just doing something new or that or try bringing another franchise out of the box
With things like this coming out of Konami it actually makes me kind of glad Bloober team is working on the SH2 remake, I have far more faith in 3rd party developers taking over Konamis IP's and doing them justice
But it's Bloober... they already messed it up. James looks Eastern European almost Asian. Gives off too much emotion. Voice actor sounds terrible and probably the rest will too. I can guarantee the town will be fucked up as well.
@@randallbro6749 “Too much emotion.” Silent Hill 2 fans will do any coping imaginable rather than admit most of the voice acting from 2 was not good. Bloober Team have made mostly mediocre games (besides Observer, which was pretty good) but I’m really looking forward to the remake just because whiny fans are so pissy about the remake.
Nah, the voice acting in the original Silent Hill 2 was perfect considering the scenes, characters, story, and atmosphere. Angela is a perfect example. Her voice in the original definitely makes it seem like she’s mentally fucked up and from her past which she is. She isn’t a complete sobbing mess throughout the entire game. Even if the voice acting wasn’t intended to be like that, you have to remember the game was released in 2001. There’s still emotion in the original, it’s just best when it’s rare.
my biggest issue with emulating hd collection (specifically on xenia) is that while mgs2 runs perfect, mgs3 is solid until it gets to literally walking through the jungle with eva and fighting the boss. i actually own the hd collection on PS3 but I honestly prefer the controls of the xbox version (l3 to raise/lower weapon, specifically, and pressure sensitive buttons for grabbing people/slashing their throats is kinda annoying at times).
RPCS3 > Xenia Canary. Xenia has no user interface and editing its settings is not straightforward even with multiple guides. I've gotten much better RPCS3 performance overall because of the UI actually being straightforward in what each setting does
It’s really sad that Konami treats MGS the way it does. I would give anything for Kojima to have full ownership of the MGS IP and make new MGS games or remasters with his own studio 😢

Huelett even tried writing a new script for it to “modernize the experience” 😒
It screams to me that Konami always meant to do it the cheapest possible way and have the people working on them run interference.

I gotta say, the juxtaposition of "you can still jerk off a snake" followed immediately by "none of the game's charm has been removed" hit me like a truck lmao
As a new metal gear fan, here's honest opinion from me:
the collection DOES its job - attracts new fans(which im sure there are quite plenty of, after MGRR's popularity spike which essentialy brough the franchise back) to this awesome game franchise, and makes the games available for modern hardware.

Does this really shock anyone
I was just a hopeful fool
it shouldn’t, Konami has been disappointing people for like 15 years
I’ll never forget the 485 meg update for Silent Hill HD collection. Back in the day that was HUGE. They barely fixed anything, SH3 was unplayable.
It's crazy.
They didn't remaster anything. They just took the games and ported them and called it a remaster.
It is not remaster. It is master collection.
It's crazy how many releases nowadays are just crappier remakes/remasters/ports of older classic games, and even crazier how still so many people buy them and settle for the laziness/mediocrity.
Konami made a huge comeback and then immediately reminded everyone why they left lol.
The sad part, this is still more effort than a lot of other master collections
You forgot that they cut content like the mgs 3 nightmare minigame or the multiplayer
"I must have broken so many child labor laws to get a PS3 back in the day [...]"
That actually made me laugh.
As a Castlevania player, can confirm Konami cares more about the business side then the games it self
I pretty much think konami is a asset dump of its former self this is why you are seeing sub minimal standard releases
While watching the video I was thinking about the Yakuza series and Muta mentions it. Muta is a certified Kyodai now!
I just can't get into Yakuza games/series. I DO really like that Fist of the North Star-Yakuza clone that Sega made for the PS4 😎👍
You know it's gonna be a banger of a video when you see Muta's anger seeping out of the thumbnail.
one of my greatest dreams is that one day Sony strong arms konami, kicking and screaming, into selling them the MGS IP ( i don't know how, but i would not be against the yakuza being involved at this point). Then Sony gives the IP rights back to Kojima studios who then release a continuation of MGS5 or goes straight into a remake of 1980s Metal Gear and then a proper MGS1 remake (not to mention other newer games). One can only dream.....
Says a lot that when I see a title like that, my immediate answer is "What did Konami do now?"
What bothers me is that for the switch version, NONE of THE GAMES are on the cartridge! NONE! Whats the point of buying physical?!
The only thing that surprises me is that they actually put in some effort with the easter eggs. I knew it would be a lazy cash grab but was expecting worse. The real burning question is how did they deal with providing Meryl's codec frequency in MGS1?
The launcher has the ability to view each games box art
id look it at this way: its not a full cashgrab because the developers obviously cared about the series. its fucked up knowing how badly the employees are getting abused, konami is squandering their talent
Its funny, everyone knew this collection would be bad but here we are...
For the size increase, all I can think is the game is being emulated and they made their own in house emulators that are super bulky. But peace walker is about 1.3gb so if they got that up to 6gb all I can think is they upscaled the textures or something or that's the most overbloated emulator ever created.
My wii can run metal gear soild 1 on the wiistatiom better then what komani released it
@@Sarahm2261dame…that’s cold man
What more can I say about Konami?
I never had any faith in the project and it's sad because I'd love to play an updated version
Konami was not to be trusted once it was seen how dirty they did Hideo Kojima with MGS 5, and everything after that correlating to the game.
You still salty about that or did you want kojima to clap your cheeks ? 😂😂😂
@@joshuajefferson3504Kojima fanboys... He actually had a chance to prove how "genius" he really is, with no "evil corporations" breathing down his genius neck, and then we got Death Stranding... LMAO😂
@@hombre-lobo5673like death stranding as a comfort game where I wanna lower the violence to 1 but god damn it was such a let down
Its crazy that I never noticed the difference between the 2 versions, I suppose it wasn't something you'd notice back in the day as a kid haha
Something in me enjoys seeing this man ever so slightly becoming more and more unhinged over the years. His reasons are always valid and i wish i was this passionate about something.
I mean CoD players have been buying the same game for literally 10+ years and no one mentions that
We are pretty lucky that the Castlevania, Contra, and TMNT collections are as solid as they are.
I had very low expectations of this MGS collection, and yet they STILL managed to disappoint me...
This has given me the motivation to upgrade my Steam Deck and setup emu deck. The fact that these games do not run properly is mind boggling.
Currently they do not work properly even on Steam Deck, but just recently Valve made an update to Proton Hotfix to fix some problems in it so ya could use that, but you need to use a guide to get the audio working as they are still working on fixing that one as well.
Laziness and not caring about their products.Gaming is dim
it's really something how every "Master," "Ultimate," Complete," collection are not earning those titles.
I was willing the have a *"Shut up and take my money moment,"* however, I'm gonna just pirate them because my cousin got MGS4 running. 😮
The only reason I bought this is because of nostalgia. I was so happy when they released this. So I’m a sucker and I have no self control. Thanks for the informative video as always!
Well I mean the only lazy port is mgs1
@@Zumi909 oh okay 😅 well thank you for letting me know. Haven’t launched it yet and it might be a while. Thanks for the heads up
It's definitely not as bad as the Silent Hill remasters.
I wonder what Konami's own "Higher Quality Animations" or "Concept Art is not a commitment" moment is.
It will be. Some Reddit user actually showed the leak and said that Vol 2 will include Phantom Pain, Ground Zeroes, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and MGS: Peace Walker (no sign of Portable Ops unless they confirm it later on down the line)
There are rumors that Resurgeance (the spinoff title with Raiden set after Metal Gear Solid 4) is going to be added, but...imo I'd rather add Portable Ops+ instead.
@@GenGamesUniverse If Snake's revenge is in volume 1 and Ac!d 1 or 2 are also mentioned in the code then Rising should 100% have a remaster. That game and the Ac!d games are proof that we can indeed have Metal Gear games without Kojima and that Kojima might have taken the credit for a lot more than we might have believed so far.
@@diegomedina9637didn't ask
The mouse joystick emulation thing is unfortunately pretty common these days
They should have worked with Digital Eclipse who know how to create fantastic collections.
Would be nice to have the Twin Snakes remake from GameCube. That game has Nintendo written on it with Nintendo game references.
@@randallbro6749
“Too much emotion.”
Silent Hill 2 fans will do any coping imaginable rather than admit most of the voice acting from 2 was not good.
They planned on James looking older, even Akira and Masahiro planned on it.
Blooper team don’t have a good track record of making games
my biggest issue with emulating hd collection (specifically on xenia) is that while mgs2 runs perfect, mgs3 is solid until it gets to literally walking through the jungle with eva and fighting the boss. i actually own the hd collection on PS3 but I honestly prefer the controls of the xbox version (l3 to raise/lower weapon, specifically, and pressure sensitive buttons for grabbing people/slashing their throats is kinda annoying at times).
RPCS3 > Xenia Canary. Xenia has no user interface and editing its settings is not straightforward even with multiple guides. I've gotten much better RPCS3 performance overall because of the UI actually being straightforward in what each setting does
Well now you can buy it soo congrats
It’s really sad that Konami treats MGS the way it does. I would give anything for Kojima to have full ownership of the MGS IP and make new MGS games or remasters with his own studio 😢
I still haven't forgiven them for the Silent Hill HD Collection...
yeah saw Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection in a secondhand store for the ps3 today. Now charging my controllers!!
