    Welcome to the industry!
    Come and tag along.
When you think it can’t get worse, we always prove you wrong!
    We’ve got hundreds of fails…
    Some harmless, some not.
And digging deeper always makes it worse than you thought.
    Welcome to the industry!
    Sit and grab a snack.
Would you like to see big companies get all their data hacked?
    Wrong region? Too bad.
Want early access? Haha, well… you’re paying 60 bucks for their beta test!
Welcome to the industry, here it really rocks! Gambling’s legal when you play on Twitch or call it a lootbox!
    Surprises! Fun presents!
    …Are some of its names!
Your kids put you in debt and it’s not to blame!
Welcome to the industry! Charming and macabre!
Where developers are overworked and then they lose their jobs!
We’ve got scalpers and scammers and big exposés…
And a bunch of Reddit users who screwed over Wall Street by buying a bunch of GameStop stocks-
    Welcome to the industry!
    Here, it’s pretty sweet!
All the AAA big budget games releasing incomplete!
Whether software or hardware, they enter the fray.
They cancel all their projects, throwing millions away!
Online distribution, execution up in smoke.
Simultaneously, the companies are bigoted and woke.
Where the shooters all are looters and the promised features neutered.
Crappy ports for your computer! Fake reviewers, shaky rumors!
We’re eternal with the journalists who tell you that you’re bad!
Condemning games they’ve never played and gaming skills so sad!
Normal mode too difficult? Pay so you can win!
Filling all your games with different MI-CRO-TRAN-SAC-TIONS!
Could I interest you in everything… ‘cept for a game?
We’re selling bits of everything, but not a game.
Circuses of services are what this place became… trying to be everything, just not a game.
Pay a buck to roll something? Part of the game!
A little chance of anything, enjoy the game!
Dummies give us money so we’ll always stay the same…
Anything and everything comes with your game.
(Yes, I compiled this for no reason. Enjoy the singalong lyrics, friends! And thanks for the wonderful musical number, Josh!)

Have some angry online posturing surround all games.
Activists hollering “Don’t play this game!”
Members in the embers of a war’s forever flame!
Aiming to do anything but play the game!
Influential money from Beijing changes your game!
A tiny flaw in programming? Can’t play the game!
Nervous? You deserve this? Well, we all must share the blame!
      Caring about everything
      And anything and everything
      And anything and everything

I remember playing Metroid prime as a teenager. I also have autism. When I got lost, I didn’t get mad at the game or call it poorly designed. I realized there was something I wasn’t seeing (given the fact that Metroid games required thinking outside the box to succeed) so I experimented. Worst case scenario: I looked up a guide. Just because a game is subtle about progression doesn’t mean it’s poorly designed. If I, a teenager with autism, realized that 10 years ago, David Jaffe has no excuse.

"I just want to play a game"
That is the shit I've been saying for years. The big cooperation scandals are prevalent and its all trickled down to the Indie game development scene too. Of all the indie development games and early access games I've been apart of, there are few that actually make a game with little to no controversy. It's so bad these days that any new game I see on Early Access, I'm instantly skeptical of REGARDLESS how good the concept is.
For example, I am a skin artist and map maker. I was brought on to a project and given a few tasks to make skins for the in game creatures and then design a map for the main game to take place on. I was also working a 50-60 hour a week job because this project was (at that moment) a passion project and required volunteer hours (There was no promise of pay yet which I have accepted as part of the Early Access Development world....this sentence in itself is a problem too, but not the beef of my tangent).
The only reason I was brought onto said development company was because my at the time friend knew I had a passion for the work I did and invited me in. However, said friend was also a skin artist and was working faster on their end of workload than I was. They would show me their work, I would give compliments and critiques and try to help them with making their work come to the standards I held myself to. By no means was their work bad, but there was a difference in experience that could have been fixed with more time, better equipment (this person was not using a tablet at all), and some good critiques.
But I find out one day that the lead developers had bullied this individual EVEN THOUGH they were accomplishing their work at a faster pace than I was. They had continually sent their praises of me (Which shocked me because I had hardly done anything in comparison to my friend) and was more or less telling this other person they weren't good enough to be on the team anymore. This game wasn't even PRE-ALPHA and they were already kicking out one of their designers. Naturally I (not being a person to stand by people treating other people bad) professionally said my peace to the lead developers and parted ways with the project as well. I don't know if the game will ever get off the ground, I don't care.
TL;DR, All of Josh's listed fails are fails that I have seen even in the Indie Game world. As both a casual gamer and someone who has worked on projects. It's disgusting, I hate it, and no amount of gamer outrage will fix the problem because with outrage comes the toxic community who is blind/doesn't care about the underhanded dealings or at worst, an innocent and impressionable consumer who sees a game concept they like, and feeds money into the toxic devs and fans, and then either joins them or becomes so bullied that they develop similar jaded feelings about video games.
    This. Needs. To. Stop

We need a way to stop the flame without getting caught in it or getting burnt to piss. That being said while there are many bad examples out of this there was a lot of good in the industry. There is devs out there that see to community satisfaction and work force care first and foremost and that's what the gaming community needs to keep above all else. Then need to stop treating it like its just a business and treat it like a passion to the community to demonstrate one person or a teams abilities in the many fields this community requires. The business is a afterthought greed driven concept and material gains should never be the sole reason in demonstrating anything revolving around ones abilities and skills on oneself or others.
Sure money helps make the gears turn but the passion is what makes the gears to turn in the first place.

I may disagree with Scott’s political views (and I very much disagree with them), but I wouldn’t wish what happened here on anyone, liberal, conservative, or whatever alike.

Finally, What happened to Scott Cawthon was not okay. All the man did was have an opinion and support some political candidates. There is no justification for a person getting doxed and having their family attacked because they dared to have a different opinion. The Blizzard fail was an obvious placement, but that one still hurts and hurts BAD. Blizzard was a titan, one of the companies we grew up with and a seemingly-stable presence in an industry where studios can get shut down at a moment’s notice. Every gamer either played or at least knew somebody who played any number of titles from Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo, WoW, Overwatch, or even the more obscure stuff like The Lost Vikings and Battle Chess. They seemed like an infallible game company. Then the Activision merger came, and the controversies and the lawsuits, and now we stare at the familiar Blizzard logo in disgust and sorrow, wondering “What IS this? What have you become?”
We thought we knew the worst. We thought, surely nothing can sink lower than EA…than Activision….than Bethesda….than Konami…than Ubisoft…. Now we have cleared away more of the silt and weeds, only to find the blue Blizzard logo flickering in the mud. The Titan has toppled. We have seen its true face, and we are horrified.

Then it was used for Captain Marvel because of the wooden lead and people treated as sexual harassment and then with Metroid Dread it went full circle when it was used with Samus (Iets us ignore the obvious facts she is wearing a helmet and as a Nintendo protagonist uses body language to establish personality and instead point out all the traumatic events that happened in her life which explains why she doesn't smile that often.)

Might as well give my thoughts on the 10 entries. Always good fun:
    10. If I was to have a nickel for every time Nintendo was at number 10 for an annoying but mild issue in a fails list, I'd have 2 nickels. It's annoying, but that's what the pirate bay is for.
    9. Amazingly, I didn't hear about this until now. Frankly, I was more concerned by how shit this year's E3 was. Special mention to Ubisoft for not mentioning the trainwrecks occurring in their studios, especially with what's going on in their Singapore studio. Jesus christ.
    8. I love the unanimous "what the fuck" that came from the community during this time. People want to prove Metroid Dread can succeed, and thankfully they did. Also people should learn about Metroidvanias as a whole if they can't shoot upwards. Gotta love that Nintendo roasted David Scott Jaffe for that in a Twitter post.
    7. Gaming streaming services are dumb, and Google should've have bothered. I think that can sum up what they tried to do throughout the past couple of years. It's a failed experiment to add to the Google Graveyard.
    6. Yup, no surprises here. Frankly this is just the state of gaming, and it's saddening. 2021 was a dry year for gaming as a whole, the fact that so many games were unfinished just was salt in the wound. Small blessing though is that the few games that either were fun despite the issues (namely thinking of FnaF: Security Breach) or were amazing regardless (Deathloop my beloved) stood out even more. 2022. Please do better.
    5. CDPR deserved this. Nothing more to add. I mentioned it in the premier chat, but CP2077 was a game that spent so long in vegetable cutting phase that too many vegetables weren't seasoned and what remained *could've* been good, but they didn't do anything with it. The base ideas for CP2077 are amazing, and the story is pretty good. Would be nice if they could make a game and not concepts.
    4. Full respect to Josh for calling out the bullshit on Twitter, few people can be as blunt as that. Regardless of your politics (gender politics or otherwise), the one thing I cannot ***at fucking all*** defend is how they doxed Scott. Scott by himself would've been too far, but doing it to his family was beyond any sympathy for the movement. As mentioned, I believe Steel Wool (FnaF Security Breach and Help Wanted) are good hands to put the series in, and hope Scott has a good life.
    3. Of the listed games, the only one that mildly gets away with it is Halo Infinite because of it being F2P, fun by itself, and that it's receiving changes. I'm not a fan of everything else. Doesn't help that AS OF FUCKING TODAY Square Enix is now into the idea of "metaverses" and "nfts". God this industry sucks sometimes.
    2. I'm with r/wallstreetbets on this. The fact that the hedge funds were trying to stop it is a sign to me that they're deliberately against the "free market". The subreddit also proved that the market is flawed. Probably the best part of the year if I'm being honest, it was just a really funny situation.
    1. I might get a bit venomous here, so I'll be as blunt as possible. Genuinely every part of Activision Blizzard is rotten to the goddamn core. These past couple of years have genuinely made me think "Perhaps I treated EA to harshly". Take-Two is more greedy, Riot Games and Ubisoft have shown their true colours and ActiBlizz, OH BOY ActiBlizz, it's not truly a change of colours, but an intensity change. Amazingly, the #1 segment had enough content to replace the entirety of the Activision/Blizzard fails lists, but Josh somehow didn't showcase everything. Special shoutout to Bobby "chastising" the letter one Frances Townsend; a letter which was later found out to be made by Bobby himself! The slimy [REDACTED] threw someone under the bus for a fucking publicity stunt! How scummy can you possibly get!? HOW!?
The saddest part, and this genuinely annoys me. Despite the initial lawsuit mentioning a suicide, despite everything that came out afterwards, despite the fact that thousands of people have been impacted by the worst thing this industry has EVER done... I was not shocked by it.
Activision's actions, from a realist view, aren't going to be punished harshly. Bobby is going to escape with no damage to his money, no major repercussions and the talented people at the bottom are the only ones that are going to be hurt.
    God I hate this industry.

This is horribly wrong because Scott has shown throughout his career that he has a lot of respect for them and has donated WAY more money to LGBT+ charities and resources than the Republican party as a whole. I don't agree with the Republican party, but the reasons people were attacking him for were flawed from the very beginning. The whole Scott Cawthon cancellation made mee FURIOUS, I mean who the funky undercutting calzone-kapers are those gamers to wish Scott Cawthone when all that person did was support politicians he wanted to support mainly because he thinks they would be best to run the country, are we as gamers supposed to kick him out when gamers are not supposed to be defined by one type of background.
Despite what the people who tried (And unfortunately succeeded) to cancel Cawthone would like to say, supporting a candidate does not mean you condone everything about them or that you become their second in command somehow, it just means you support that candidate.
We gamers come from many different backgrounds, poor, rich, popular, outcast, banker, teacher, or maybe even just a casual guy. WHO ARE WE AS GAMERS TO CHASE SOMEONE OUT FOR THEIR POLITICAL BACKGROUND WHEN OUR OWN BACKGROUND IS AS UNIQUE TO US AS IT IS TO THEM?!
And if anyone wants to go any further about justifying Scott getting canceled, I want you all to name one fully human that didn't either make a mistake or was faultless, SPOILER ALERT, you wont.
Despite the multiple thousands of dollars in donations to charities, which includes charities for kid's health, those slimy weasels who have no satisfaction or accomplishments in their own life so they try to destroy another, which included a dox that could have potentially gotten Scott harmed.
Also Josh I sympathize with you about worrying about baggage when it comes to enjoying games, but admittedly I try to tune myself out when I play games and just get sucked in and not deal with what baggage it brought with it, if you find enjoying games harder recently, I hope you get back to enjoying them.

    Takeaways:
    - the industry as a whole remains tone deaf on most relevant issues
    - while I disagree with Scott Cawthorne and his donation choices, doxxing and threatening the man's life is NEVER the right way to handle such things.
    - Nintendo fanboys remain an interesting kind of toxic
    - the sad part about the Activision-Blizzard scandal? They weren't the first. Ubisoft was the first giant company to get called out and that one got quickly forgotten about. Same thing is gonna happen with Acti-Blizz. Why? Cuz gamers as a whole have never given a shit about anything other than the products. Sad, but ultimately true in my experience. This shit cannot continue, but it will as long as the overall gaming community remains apathetic to the people behind the games.

But overtime, the scientist began to fear for his wife's mortality, believing she may not have been long for this world. And although the wife was perfectly fine, the deluded scientist grew mad and sought to make her bride immortal. Thus, he killed her and sought to use his science to ressurrect her as an immortal and perfect bride.
But with each new piece he added to her, it never fit properly, or it would rot away overtime. The scientist convinced himself he knew what he was doing and that it was all for the sake of his wife. And thus, his wife was reborn as a suffering and unrecognisable mess of ill-fitting parts, and she sought vengeance for what the clueless and selfish scientist had done to her. She would spend years enacting her revenge, destroying the scientist's reputation and leaving him alone and hopeless until at last, she would bring his madness to an end.
