I'm wondering if your head got hot, even with the exhaust vents. I'm in Texas with a 50cc, and sweat, in 100° heat.
I believe this has the removable liner for washing.

I am sure you can find an old helmet from the crusades. Although, the D rings might not be up to standards there might be matching shin guards.
