@@sixpath I get why they do that, all the fat is cut out, but I just get lost. I prefer getting more of a full experience and thoughts rather than having to pick through a bunch of 15 second segments to find the real details.
I have 2 years and about 6,000 miles on LS2 helmet and it's my favorite. Normally, my helmets are medium, but the best fit on LS2 turned out to be Extra Small. It took roughly 100 hours for it to conform to my head, and now it's incredibly snug, comfortable and ergonomic. Pros: 1. Lightweight. 2. Great with glasses (can put on helmet with glasses on). 3. Great setup for wiring and speakers, works great with my Sena 10c. 4. Sunshade is nicely tinted. 5. I love the look of it. 6. The chin strap is awesome, very uncommon at this price point. Cons: 1. It's pretty loud at speed and sideways winds can force air into the visor. 2. The air vents do nothing. Seriously, don't even bother 3. LS2 logos are tacky. 4. The cheek pad and ear piece are conjoined, unlike other helmets. It forces speaker installation behind the padding, not over. On a full face helmet it's not a big dead, but because this helmet is naturally loud, you'll be cranking up the volume just to hear anything. It's s small issue, but on a long enough timeframe, makes you fish for a different helmet.
Interesting. Thanks for the insights. When I look at a person wearing a helmet ⛑️ 🪖 I automatically see the impact on the head and smaller fitting helmets reduce the absorbing impact feature. Greater padding looks right. You ARE doing high speeds and now days, cars etc... ARE driving faster than ever. When you hit in opposite directions, the forces are enormous. Less padding looks like an egg shell helmet. Talking or bringing up the topic of aerodynamic open face helmets after the year 1980 is STUPID. IF YOU WANT an aerodynamic helmet, get in a car.
I've been pretty pleased with the Caberg Freeride. Kevlar and fiberglass shell means super lightweight at +/-800gr. Comes with a face shield and is apparently ECE 2205 approved.
I own 2 Bell C500. Great helmet indeed, yet two downsides : 1- Premature wear on the cheek pads. Both mines (2015 and 2017) are suffering from that problem. And i don't wear them constantly as I have 5 helmets on a rotation. 2- Lack of "classic" colors such as silver, or orange for instance..
You didn't mention the Harley Davidson version. You didn't mention COLLECTING them. You didn't mention buying just to admire this design 😍 Should we buy the cheapest visors? What's the difference between the 3 press stud visors and the 5 stud visors? Should we be buying the always on version or the flip up version? If we have the black pinstripe Harley Davidson version are we allowed to install the see through orange visor?
Hey Ryan, love the content man but safety is a big thing for me so I gotta look for ece ratings on every helmet I consider buying. You made a video on snell helmets could you make one on ece as well? 🤔
My favorite open face buckets are the HJC IS-33 II, the Shoei J-Cruise, and the Shark Raw or Drak. I also like the Kabuto Avand II and the HJC CL-Jet and FG-Jet. The Scorpion EXO CT-220 is also nice.
I love my LS2 for day to day riding. Comfortable, albit a little loud. But for the price and features it's nice. And it runs with no face shield nicely when you want glasses and a bandana when it's 110degrees (f) outside
I like the Scorpion EXO CT220, in fact it is my favorite helmet and my other helmets are Shoei, and HJC helmets. It fits my head better than any helmet I've ever owned, has good venting, and is fairly lightweight. The internal sun visor operates with a slide on the left side of the helmet like Shoei's with no return spring to break, and the internal visor is darker than most and comes down more than most. And it has the EMS removable cheek pads which I've only seen on Schuberth helmets, that allows EMS to remove the cheek pads without removing the helmet, so the helmet can be more gently removed from your head.
I am a new rider, or will be once o take the class and get a bike. I purchased the LS2 in matte black, it's really comfortable, light, and even has room for speakers. I'm also not a fan of the decals, I'm considering removing them chemically but I need to find something that won't eat the plastic. I'm glad I found this review because I was honestly pretty worried about the ece rating. You'll find DOT stuck permanently to the back of the lid while the ece cert is a tiny sticker off to the side.
I just sent the ls2 of 569 back. Like you on paper i thought it was good but when tested... Very week ventilation and a strange wind noise on the left side of the face shield. I decided that the ultimate jet helmet for the summer days is actually the HJC fg jet, just give it a go and let me know how it goes.
I still have my old Tommy 100. Best helmet i have ever had, though, it very old now so it's probably not very safe anymore... But to the beach on moped or bike, it's unbeateble!
Hey Ryan, What about the Shoei J.O? I bought one recently and to me it's a winner. Love your work by the way, it's an amazing channel you created. Cheers from France.
should do a vid on the more modern budget modular 3/4 and 1/2 helmets. like ILM 726x, Speed And Strength SS2400, Bell, etc... that style could get really popular quick and if nothing else can let people know if they are actually safe and/or good value. hard no can be just as informative as saying don't use this on anything more powerful than a pedal bike or that they aren't bad.
Ryan , great video's I am way down in Texas and ride during some pretty hot/humid days and I wear glasses that I feel is easier to ride with an open face helmet. I am looking for a new open face helmet, and love having a face shield - too many bugs and road bullets (all those little things that shoot at your face while riding). I've been looking at the AGV Blade, LS2 OF569, and Gmax of77. Any thoughts between these three? Any others that won't have me looking like the Great Gazoo from the Flintstones?
Hey David - thanks for watching! I don't have much experience with the AGV Blade, but between the other two I'd take the LS2 OF569. It's cheaper and no less of a helmet. Also the LS2 is slimmer, and that seems important to you. The least Great Gazoo-ish option would be to buy a Custom 500 and one of the optional snap-on face shields. But that can get a tad expensive! Hope that helps. ~RyanF9
Hi Ryan great reviews keep 'em coming. after your video I have the LS2 and like it thanks. I've seen several videos since that suggest open face helmets are unsafe in accidents and obviously not going to give the protection of a full face, but I've tried them and I feel clautrophobic and out of touch with my surroundings in them. Do you know of any that would give a more open feeling that are still good, maybe a bubble visor? There are so many and often they're unavailable to try on in the stores.
I am partial to the Custom 500 but also have a Daytona Cruiser, which is lighter in weight and lower in profile than any open faced helmet I have seen. DOT only though.
I've got an Arai Freeway - the black Cafe Racer version with the gold pin stripes and it's one of the most comfortable helmets I've ever owned - it also gives maximum peripheral vision and a decent weight for a quality helmet - not cheap but worth every penny, it's a brilliant piece of kit
I keep looking at the bell but the LS2 wins with iits visor system and the price has come down a lot. I still have until summer to decide. Nice review, best from Scotland.
Love that bell 500 but a poor fit. I reckon it boils down to a safe fit. I am an arai or shoei full face so I guess maybe I would need to stick with those makes if I went down the open route. Thank you Ryan great vids
Thanks for the great overview! Any thoughts on the Fly .38? Seems comparable to the Bell Custom 500 (vintage look, fiberglass), but with removable liner and pads.
Hey Michael, you just gave us an entire new video to film haha. I added them yo our list, we'll definitely give those helmets a closer look to see if they make the cut in our next batch of reviews.
+Lec-kin González Toy If you mean the Custom 500 vs the Bonanza, I'd take the Custom 500 all day long. It's fibreglass while the Bonanza is only thermoplastic. The Custom 500 is DOT and ECE rated while the Bonanza is only DOT. The Custom 500 comes in more colourways, it's slimmer, it's lighter and - in my opinion - it looks cooler. Plus there's so much more heritage with the Bell (the 500 was Bell's first helmet in 1954!). The only reason I might buy a Bonanza is if I really wanted to save a few bucks. ~RyanF9
Do you guys have any thoughts on the Lick's NovDot 3/4 Helmet and Daytona 3/4 Helmets? I know those are the lowest profile DOT approve 3/4 helmets available but I am not sure how they compare to brands like Bell.

I would suggest taking a look at the Hedon Hedonist. Its pricey, but soooooo comfortable and stylish.
The IS-33 II is a great helmet, and it has an ECER 2205 safety pass.
Gives the most coverage than almost all 3/4 helmets..

Do a review on the ls2 spitfire open face helmet.
the Shark Raw helmets are bad ass
Agreed. ~RyanF9
Shoei JO !
Hey Ryan, would you recommend the Scorpion Exo-Combat? It's essentially an open face helmet and it's only DOT approved, but it just looks amazing..
Ryan, any recommendations for a round basketball head like mine?
My favourite is ARC Nova
Harley Jet 2 by far the best
What do you think of the HJC FG-JET???
I Do Love your presentation
nice review! but wish you used lbs instead of grams?...
Q. Can you do video on adding/repairing snap on helmet. I'd think you'd have to pop rivet?
Thanks for your reviews. What could you say about LS2 Verso 570?
What do u think of the Gmax GM67 or the Gmax OF77?
What is the use of the side snaps? I have never been able to figure it out.
Hey Ryan, do you know why the side snaps are for? Is there any accessories to attach to them?

Okay, thanks. I was just thinking about this since both use polycarb and their designs at the top and rear are very similar.
Hi there. does the LS2 have space to put speakers inside,?
If you didn't like the HJC then why add it to the list? Couldn't you have added a different helmet that you would have liked
I'm glad he he had it. Helps me know what to look for/not look for.
that's a good point!
but maybe he could have made a separate video "what to look for and what to avoid in helmets" but I am grateful for the information he provided in this video
neonseacow I have the HJC and I find very comfortable. It gets 4.5 stars or better on almost any vendors site you look at.
the HJC is a much better helmet than the LS2. And i don't know why he says it is not ECE aproved cause we have it here in Europe.
PLEASE CAN YOU... Make a video about rearview camera's on bikes... Iv only ever seen people retro fit a car cam on their bikes.... Are they out there?, Is it worth it?, How to install them? And how much?....
Hi Duke - I've put a mountain bike handlebar mount on my rear indicator and mounted a GoPro in addition to a forward facing one and the results are very good - the standard batteries give you a good few hours and I also got rechargeable power banks which give something like thirty hours of 1080 hd filming - I've got 64 gb cards in which is plenty - works really well.

HJC V30. Got one and looking for an alternative wich i cannot find.
My question is this, I’m a skinny guy, is this helmet gonna look extremely bulky on my head?? I find that a lot of these open faces helmets from other companies are fairly clunky lookin on the ole noggin.
Where can I find and order the snaps on the helmet? Thx
>>----------------------------> Dude, you look like Joffrey Baratheon of "Game of Thrones" series.
you forgot the Daytona 3/4. Under $100 DOT approved, no frills aside from 3 snap visor mounting that they give you

hey ryan,
have you try the agv blade? could you recommend me others good light weight open face helmetM?
I find you so awesome!!!!!
Where is the boxer helmet?
My open face helmet doesn’t have the mount to add visor what do I do to add visor in my helmet?
I still can't find the ls2 with the chin bar anywhere. Does anyone have suggestions???
Open face helmets need a removable and washable interior for washing the blood and skin off when you gravel rash your face, if you ever knew anyone who face dived tarmac at 30mph you will never look at an open face helmet, they're no use for anything except keeping your head warm,
How do your remove the bell sticker?
Doesn’t seem to simply peel off?
AGV Rp 60 great helmet

LS2 OF569's only drawback is no visor.
can i install sena 10c on the bell 500 helmet?
Yep - should work! ~RyanF9
Yes. I
No Daytona???
Ive never understood open face helmets. The very first part of the body to impact anything will be the part it doesnt cover
How to order
Aw Arthur fulmer didn't make it on the list.... Lol
how about arai ram4
DMD the rest make you look like a dash mounted bobble head
so polycarbonate is not plastic...? lol
J Cruze shoei
and he never put it on the hole point of a helmet
4 times
how to secure helmet when we park our bike with helmet???????????? can someone stole it??????????????????
