Epic mate, good effort finding the time to film everything/fly the drone. Hard enough to do it at home let alone in a totally new environment. Great editing and a good story. We are so spoilt here in Aus, definitely looks like a great place to challenge yourself over there. Look forward to diving there one day, love how soft the bottom looks everywhere!

Hey Dan, your vids are by far the most entertaining Spearing vids I have come across. Great narration and editing. Really liking the places you are hitting as a lot of us Spearos may never get to see it for ourselves! (even the UK stuff)Really well done bro, keep them coming!
After watching this video, where you as a professional diver who was spearfishing all around world and participated in many competitions have problems to catch something, I realised how hard spearfishing in Mediterranean and Adriatic sea actually is. As someone who is diving in Adriatic since childhood, and had many dives where I actually got nothing. I had no idea that there is something about the sea that makes it so hard. I hope you spear your dentex in Mediterranean, you deserved it!
What an amazing video Dani! Cool experience and the Italians are very generous and sociable people I really like thier culture. I wish if my country (Libya) was safe so I could arrange for you an interesting trip there with my cousin and my friends who are a masterpiece in spearfishing. Spearfishing in the Mediterranean is mostly between the rock holes and the sand banks and it is difficult to find new places to fish in. Usually not all the places are full of fish. Therefore, almost the spearos in the Mediterranean dive in particular spots which are full of fish which they either discover or were passed from the previous generation to them, or by other spearo friends. I wish you good luck! your videos are amazing.
I’ve never met an Italian I didn’t like and Giuliano is one of the most generous men I’ve ever met. I’ve heard that only certain spots will hold fish and you just have to learn them. Like Toni knew the stones which the grouper lived in.
Good video, in my hometown, hondarribia I am catching the dentex between 15-19 m in summer. This summer has been really good one, I have cought one of 5kg other 4, 5 and 3kg. Dentex and big seabasses are the queens of my waters. Like your videosss

Daniel thank you for this incredibly realistic and honest footage, must be one of the first of an Ocean/Australian/UK spearo coming to the Mediterranean. You said it right, fishing here is difficult and your experience has been absolutely normal, despite your good apnea times, the possibility to change spots easily with a boat and a quite rich sea like Ponza. 14:25 Corvina is of the fastest fishes you can find, nothing strange missing that shot. If you ever come to Croatia where I am from, let me know!

Too small for a grouper....spearfishing in Mediterranean sea is a difficult task and you have to be a real hunter... All champions are from mediteranian countries and most of the world championships took place in that sea.. Greetings from Greece
your video shows just how lucky we are to be able to get good fish on a regular basis in Australia. Fish in the Mediterranean look like after years of being hunted they are really flighty and almost impossible to find unless you dive 25mtrs+.Well done getting food on the table. Ha ha
Well the thing is, in oceans fish do migrate. So even big ones not used to spearfishing as they travel a lot. However at Mediterranean fish do live in certain envoirement and at especially heavily hunted places fish do learn to scare more from divers. So here you have to go bottom of the sea, hide and then make a call for it. And still try not to be seen by fish, which makes it way way harder.
Well that's because there's almost no fish left! The reason why it's well known to be the most overfished and endangered water body on the planet! You know it's pretty crazy when there's less fish there per area of water then there is off of f****** China!
it always amazes me how there's little to no current where u guys dive. Here in my local Trinidad and Tobago, the good spots have RIDICULOUS current! The fact that you guys can dive straight down is insane to me!!!!
Other parts of the world I have dived there has been very strong currents. On the weekend just gone I dived a spot where the boat was moving 5 knots in the current with no wind.
Daniel Mann oh yeah, that sounds about right. People think I'm exaggerating when I say this but on our east coast (best fishing, water most clear, most dangerous) the currents are ridiculous. You'll hear divers tell you stories of doing a 60ft dive and coming back up a mile or 2 from the boat if the current is particularly bad that day. On good days, we drop 300-500m before the spot, take a couple dives and get picked up after the spot. I can't wait to dive in water like what I see on RUclips. No huge waves, hardly any currents, pristine blue water.
Daniel Mann oh buddy. Youd be surprised. There are columns of currents below. The last time we had a spear stuck we put a float on it The currents were so hard that the floats were pushed under water. There are a few international spearfishermen who frequent our waters. Even they call us crazy for diving on the east coast. When the currents rip. They RIP! a 60ft dive is like a 100ft dive because you think you're going straight down but you're really going at a hell of an angle.
Amazing video m8... Really loved it because i know alot about spearfishing in the Mediterranean (Im from Malta) and it was awesome to see a first timers experience! Just next time dont shoot the small amberjack... Was not worth it considering they can get to 30kg and more
You should try the Azores islands, Portugal. You`ve got cheap flights, and the fishing is awsome. Just search for "spearfishing azores", and you´ll see what i mean. I live in Lisbon, but i go there every year to get my fishing on!
www.azores38n.com/spearfishing-from-the-shore. This is the site of a touristic business owned by one of the best spearfishers in Azores. I usually fish in S, Miguel island, but Azores38 is based in Terceira island, both are good spots. Gui Bruges, the owner has various videos in YT. I think you should check it out. Btw, i don´t know Gui or am affiliated with the business at all, but i guess he would be a great guide to take you fishing. Also, in contrast with italian or spanish people, portuguese people in general have a good english knowledge, since we start learning english in the 5th grade, so comunication won´t be a problem at all.
No wonder there are no sharks, they'd starve! Great stuff as usual Dan, looks like you had a beauty of a holiday. Cya in the next one, don't make us wait too long eh?
Really nice Daniel, I'm from the Mediterranean and I know that feeling of fish swimming away very fast, you must be very silent and calm here or they will see you and fly even b4 you see them
Great fascinating video.as a spearfising man in the Mediterranean I agree it is harder here than other places but sometimes when its too easy you loose interest and passion for spearfishing.Im allways amazed how clear the water are in Italy and Greece but I guess it is because of the long distance from the Nile.
spearfishing summer time at this coastal line is very hard.. winter time its very easy though, u just ambush on a rock and white sea bass, bluefish runs alll over you..
Following your great editing vids i learned of your up and coming diving in med i couldnt wait to see it you vids are so true being croatian born diving in nz and most of australia i too had the same difficulty when diving in adriatic very cold water in summer and always deep long dives
I am 13 years old now ,two years ago in the summer I was on vacation in an island in Greece (my country) and in very shallow water in a hole my father handed my the spear gun and I caught a grouper exactly like yours.
Idk about other places but the barracuda we catch here in the Mediterranean in Lebanon are massive and the meat is really firm. You can actually throw a fillet or the whole damn sucker on the grill!
NO wonder why Mediterranean divers have completely dominated the world championships since the beginning

Ha ha
outis 666 I dived the Philippines and they have destroyed their habits by using cyanide
The bright side is that in Australia you get lots of good fish, the murkier side is that you also get lots of sharks.
Ha Ha Haven't seen a shark in my last 10 dives. If your scared of sharks stay out of the water.
You become very good in mediteranean
I’ve always fished in the Mediterranean since is where I always go for holidays, and yeah these fish are not dumb around here!
Is that a mile away from the boat on a free dive? If it was a 3 minute dive to go a mile you'd be doing 32km/hr... Bit of a stretch!
Daniel Mann oh buddy. Youd be surprised. There are columns of currents below. The last time we had a spear stuck we put a float on it
The currents were so hard that the floats were pushed under water.
There are a few international spearfishermen who frequent our waters. Even they call us crazy for diving on the east coast. When the currents rip. They RIP! a 60ft dive is like a 100ft dive because you think you're going straight down but you're really going at a hell of an angle.
What a wonderful video!
Amazing video m8... Really loved it because i know alot about spearfishing in the Mediterranean (Im from Malta) and it was awesome to see a first timers experience! Just next time dont shoot the small amberjack... Was not worth it considering they can get to 30kg and more
Absolutely beautiful part of the world.
Fine footage mate!! Nice speargun too and look like you got your fairytale ending Congratulations 👌👍
How do you only have 33k views your videos are amazing!!!! Keep it up!
Thanks DJ!
Enthralling video mate! Congrats on that grouper.
Thanks Kano!
I really appreciate you keeping it real!
Only way to fly 👌
No wonder there are no sharks, they'd starve! Great stuff as usual Dan, looks like you had a beauty of a holiday. Cya in the next one, don't make us wait too long eh?
It was a long time between videos this one I know... the long videos take ages to edit. Next one will be much sooner I promise!
mediterranean sea has the most delicious fish in the world ,the tastiest ever ,super good ,i
love the "bouillabaisse" too ;)
Really nice Daniel, I'm from the Mediterranean and I know that feeling of fish swimming away very fast, you must be very silent and calm here or they will see you and fly even b4 you see them
It’s very different to what I’m used to that’s for sure.
Amazing video cuz! Keep up the great work👌
Cheers Duran!
9:24 “I decided to try the good old fashioned ‘swim at the fish’ method” ? !!! Ha ha ha, that's hilarious mate ! 😂😂😂 Anyway, keep up the good work !
We’ve all been there! Sometimes it works on certain species. Thanks for watching man.
Awesome and informative vid Daniel, made very professionally.
An old video but surprised Giuliano didn’t tell you about bananas being bad luck for fishing! Great videos amigo!
I love your vids, you explain everything love it
Great fascinating video.as a spearfising man in the Mediterranean I agree it is harder here than other places but sometimes when its too easy you loose interest and passion for spearfishing.Im allways amazed how clear the water are in Italy and Greece but I guess it is because of the long distance from the Nile.
spearfishing summer time at this coastal line is very hard.. winter time its very easy though, u just ambush on a rock and white sea bass, bluefish runs alll over you..
Love the content man! Please keep it coming
Plenty more to come Neilson.
Amazing video bro, it beat my expectations good job on the editing, I wish that you and fun, good job on the video again and good catch
Cheers man!
As expected, Good Shit
Man this was an awesome trip. Great video and congrats on your hunting.
Cheers man!
Mate your videos are so epic
Following your great editing vids i learned of your up and coming diving in med i couldnt wait to see it you vids are so true
being croatian born diving in nz and most of australia i too had the same difficulty when diving in adriatic very cold water in summer and always deep long dives
Massive Barracuda In Lebanon ? No Way
