Thanks to Audible for sponsoring this video and helping me to keep going.
Joe PK invited me to dive with him as he claimed he had some of the best diving in the U.K. on his doorstep. Naturally intrigued by this we booked in a day and headed offshore in Joe's new rib. He wasn't wrong and we found some incredibly shoals of European sea bass (Spigola, Labrax, Robalo, Lubina). At the time of filming the recreational bag limit on bass is 1 fish per person per day. After our bass each we found a myriad of other species.
Be sure to head over to Joe's channel and give him a subscribe - he is making some amazing videos.

So awesome to finally dive with you Mr Mann!! Thanks for coming to Devon 🙌
Do you know of any Spear Fishing clubs in Plymouth ?
@@karlbanks9843 ĺ
1 - The stamina of you guys to hold up in that cold for so long is insane.
2 - To be able to dive to such depths is also insane.
3 - To then hold your breath for so long at those depths, and hunt, is insane.
4 - Doing all that in freezing conditions, insane.
Amazing. Wish I could do that.
Cheers Brian, a good wetsuit is a game changer for the cold.
Daniel Mann legend. Let me know if you ever plan to come to Belfast or Bushmills in Northern Ireland, could maybe help you out 👌
So I tried breath holding, staying still on land. I can get to 3 mins, but 1.5 is more the norm with breath exercise first. How long is a dive for you when hunting?
@@keithgaler5586 its a lot easier with an echo sounder.
That way you can dive straight on top of the fish.
Rather than diving and searching the bottom( which obviously uses up your oxygen supplies a lot quicker)
Keep still and close to the kelp and you can often take a shot within 30-40 seconds.
A good nights sleep, good food, well balanced weights and practice all play they're part too.
These guys make it look easy i know
:-o
I absolutely love your story telling and editing skills! It makes the video so engaging the whole way through! You inspire me to want to edit better 😍
EJC Adventures cool channel!
Bryan Adams thanks mate :)
"This is perfect...this is what we need"!!! How great is that?!!! Well done guys!!!
Nicely done. "Selective" harvest of a renewable resource.
I know the Last comment was 2 years + ago but I have to say that this is one of the best under water footage films of bass I've ever seen and it makes me have a bit more faith seeing such large numbers, I know down Cornwall atm there's a NO landing by law if you get em on rod n line they have to go back but if that's the rule for a couple of years it eases pressure giving the fish chance to breed a couple more times.
Excellent video guys ✌👌❤
Good to see both of you guys together 👍🏻 always watching both of you channel 😃
Thanks Surasi!
Never in my dreams the UK had such amazing visibility not say massive schools of fish. Top video Daniel and Joe, congrats!
Very heartwarming that the magic still seeks your attention, more than the fish. Daniel's the man!
Every video you post I watch burning white hot with envy. For a guy who lives 2000km from the nearest ocean I really live vicariously through these videos. Awesome to see the huge biomass of fish :D
9:15 seeing the lighthouse behind that dudes is pretty amazing....hope to see aquaman helping these dudes catching fish
As always, you nailed it. Love the fact that you stated ( don't have to shoot a monster) 👍👍👍👍
Paul Gonzalez yes, the bigger fish are so important to the breeding stock!!!
Two different styles on one excellent trip. Good onya! Nice Easter egg too!
My two favourite spearfishing RUclipsrs in one video! Those bass were amazing to see mate. Loving your work as always.
Do you like YBS as well?
@@blackmesaoutdoors4863 Yeah definitely but his style is a little repetitive. These two really put effort in and the videos are always different. Daniel Mann in particular has a way of making a video interesting even if he doesn't shoot anything.
"Dan was here" ;)
I smile into my display, everytime i get the upload notification.
Amazing as always.
Only the second person to notice that Chris 😂
I don't know how many times I've seen this video but it's always a blast to watch.
Excellent video guys sea bass are my favorite!! Hello from Greece!!!!
Thank you sir
How could this be possible? Heaven of bass. Gush! Lots to choose from..
How? That's the reproduction season! Considering the overfishing of this stock, it's a shame to kill these fish in this conditions.
As expected, another absolute blinder. Great collaboration guys.
Good stuff again Dan and good-on Joe Pk taking you out showing you the spots.
Oh and I see the water was around a Balmy 13deg ..... mmmmmmmm
A gentlemen indeed. Tropical at 13 degrees, didn’t even need an undervest.
Mr. Smeaton would be proud 🙌🏽the Eddystone lighthouse is a true piece of history!
(Edit : grammar)
Beautiful to see so many Bass!
I guess leaving them alone for a while pays off.. you pick a cracking day aswell, loving the vids still keep up the good work!! Living the dream!!
Unfortunately every boat around us was a commercial fishing boat taking them hand over fist. Hardly fair the recreational fishers that can only take 1 per day and have a closed season.
@@DanielMann when i went to cornwall two summers ago bass fishing was banned to us all together but not for commercial boat. Its mad because we only take a little compared to those commercial boats who take alot. In Ireland they did the opposite by increasing the recreational finishing but banned commercial and the bass numbers and size have sky rocked. They now have a very healthy supply.
You two had a great day on the spear!
I had a great time watching this video.
Those bass shoals had me drooling.
Agree with the selection fatigue too.
So many bass....so little time!
Dive safe Dan
:-)
Great Job!!
So Tim when you aren’t spearing you are watching spear spearing. Big fan come to newbrunswick Canada and let’s hunt. Heck you come too Dan the man lots of strip bass here make a great video , plus our scallop diving will blow your mind
I enjoyed another of your vids Daniel. Thank you
Probably will never happen but I'd sure love to see a collaboration with YBS.
Direct flights from London to Perth, could be on the cards 🤷♂️
If we get loadsa ppl to message him with it are if we can get him to see.
Nice work on the vid Daniel, as usual. Thank's for Sharing.
After watching your videos in Italy and being Greek myself that seems like it's green-screened. Definitely an amazing experience.
Hard to do a green screen underwater 🤪
I send this video to my friend and his response after watching was:
" I start thinking about full-auto speargun"
😂😂
The only time I saw large schools of bass was during the reproduction period around March. Nice videos mate, keep them coming. Cheers from an expatriated frenchman.
Thanks for watching!
Just went there on Sunday, it is absolutely crazy!! I can't believe just how nuts it is in person, the video just doesn't do it justice 😳😍
That was a glorious moment amongst the school. Thanks for sharing. Gorg.
Not something I’ll soon forget.
Excellent video and great to see the size of those shoals here in the UK. Thank you 🙏 👍😀
Amazing video, nice to see you boys hunting near my hometown. Great footage. Cannot belive the amount of bass. Keep up the good work 👍👍
The best audible Ad so far. :D And the bassschool was mental! Like always a great video. You even make ads entertaining! great work!
Thanks mate, I toyed with a few ideas on how to make the audible ad less painful!
The shots in this video were absolutely brilliant.
The shots at 12min blew my mind
It was pretty special.
Shoots a British record fish, doesn’t even put it in title for clickbait.
Title should be: I SHOT A RECORD FISH. MEGA SCHOOLS OF BASS. Catch and cook 🤣
Not exactly a prestigious fish but damn hard to hit 😂
#modestbutlegendary
Illegal
Awesome video! I didn’t realise the bass were that prolific. I found myself saying “Take the shot Dan, take the shot!”. LOL. Congratulations. Regards from Australia. Cheers. Jeff 👍😀🐠🐟🛥
Lovely videos from both of you and Joe, amazing to watch. I've been spearfishing at my home country which is far away from England where I came for university, but watching your videos makes me miss it even more and want to dive into the water.
Thanks Thanos, it was an amazing day out.
That was cool, gives me hope for when i'm over there next year!
Easily the most beautiful wild bass footage on the planet. Do this again!!!!! SUBBED
absolutely amazing footage! great video!
I absolutely love watching these and you deserve to have so many more subscribers, brilliant work. Love watching, keep up the good work Daniel!
Cheers Oden!
@@DanielMann I've always wanted to spearfish but it's not exactly a cheap hobby, it's so cool to watch plus I just love fish.
Well done lads!
Well done Daniel
Gorgeous fish. I've always wanted to try spear fishing: shooting, snorkeling and fishing all wrapped up in one.
Another quality upload champion. Your editing, your music and your footage are A+
Cheers mate!
hi dan, im based in north cornwall, dive here alot and i have never seen numbers like that. amazing footage bro!
Thanks Mitch, time of year was an important factor for conditions like this.
I was never convinced on England but you’ve sold me
Daniel Jones they’re just shoaling for breeding
@@johndevlin965 they are shoaling for feeding before migration for winter, not breeding at this stage.
More awesomeness!....Excellent eating!
Me and my mate found a school like this yesterday down far west Cornwall. Incredible
I have shot 2 Bass in Norway. At the same place close to a river. They dont belong here but they show up some times. It tasted great
Wow.. amazing fish👍👍
I don’t mean to be a grump but I just cherish these bass. Do you think it would be safer not to give away locations like these with big land marks like the light house?
Fantastic video guys. An incredible day out and you videod it nicely. Great job!
Great job on the video once again and so good to fish in such numbers!
content just keeps getting better! bravo
Thanks Darren
Nice to see new sponsors!
Looks like good things are happening!
Iv been waiting on this video. You two are my favorite spearfishing channels on RUclips. Keep it up dudes 🤙🏻
Brilliant video Dan! Looks like an absolutely incredible dive!
Cheers Jack!
you and Daniel will all ways make a great team spearfishing and great video
Impressive footage! Looks like an amazing offshore spot
This collab was sweet! Well done D-mann🧜♂️🐟
Cheers Grant, hopefully see you next time!
Your videos are making me look at travel cases to bring my gear back to the uk and do some diving
I was already subscribed to both you dudes, so it was great to see both vids. Amazing stuff! You gotta love the Tuna! I once sailed across the Atlantic Ocean and we had a 2m Yellow Fin Tuna swim next to the ship for 10 days (1500 miles). Fell in love with it! Cheers!
The tuna were crazy, never expected that in the U.K.
Your videos are always amazing, you deserve millions of subscribers
Thank you ✊
I'm glad you find them difficult to shoot as well!!
Another quality video, I am here in west Ireland... the wind has not stopped in what feels like 6 months. Maybe this weekend!
It’s been a savage run of weather lately, Galway would have been copping it hard.
Adventure with Defender I love it
That looked like loads of fun. Great fish! Those bass were amazing!
It was a day out I won’t soon forget.
Dream team of the ocean if ever I saw one! Great vid Daniel!
Awesome!! You'd think they could allow more than one bass per day with as many as you seen. It's gonna hurt those numbers.
Very nice video also music.thanks
Bravo daniel👍👍
Grazie mille!
You welkom
Good luke
Bravi Joe e Daniel! Video stupendo!
Grazie Antonio!
It wasn’t decision fatigue - they just “schooled yah.” It was the nature of the plan.
That is like you said MENTAL!!!!
So many basses!!!
I think only the Mediterranean divers like you will understand how incredible these shoals of bass are. Almost time for bass season in the shallows in Greece now?
@@DanielMann Yes we are almost getting there!Fish are starting to show up but still havent managed to get one,on 3 diff dives.
Great filming and great editing Daniel!
Great trip,I did enjoy all 16minutes!
Waaaw. I never seen that number of bass in my life in one spot🙀🙀 ! You did miss some better size in the first dive, but surely it was confusing 😅😅!! Great to see you back again Dann 👌😉
Definitely some fish twice the size in the first few dives but that’s okay. The fish I got was delicious!
@@DanielMann ohh there meat are so soft 😋 and so yummy!!
I think they’re there in those numbers for breeding purposes. I’m not sure though.
Loved the video once again! Awesome to see you back at Devon! Should go there more if you can!
Such a loooooong drive from London. Hectic to go for a day trip 😅
sick!! i live in Sydney but i am from London nice to see that the UK has some good give spots to hit up when i go back!
Dan you need to look at a HECS diving suit check it out ! The fish don't pay attention to your movements and they are open today .
Very happy with my Polosub suits for the last 7 years. Didn’t HECS go under recently?
That ‘Decision Fatigue’ is also relevant to other predators and is one of the reasons why schooling is an ecological development for those lower down the food chain, both on land and in the water. Also, statistically, you have less chance of being found in a school.
That’s why Zebras are black and white striped ...bad camo for the bush, but not for the herd !
joel fildes Good point, but I didn’t know that zebras were in season. 😂😂
Bill Gardyne always...
Bill Gardyne I read this thing where the bbc were filming Zebras, trying to do a ‘family’ thing with them, but they kept getting confused as to which ones were which,so they marked the one they were following with a paintball gun,a single red spot....and the lions always went for the marked one...doh ! Needles to say DEFUND THE BBC ! Ha,ha...
joel fildes It’s amazing how our minds work (other animals included), and these really neat tricks that have developed throughout nature. We think we are so superior, but we are not. When I started uni 45 yrs ago we were taught that the thing that made us different was our use of tools. Now we know of many animals that do including those with ‘bird brains’. And many species exhibit emotion including elephants and whales and the primates. Even mantis shrimp have better eyes than us, and yet people still think that they are superior rather than just different.
It is a truly beautiful and wondrous world. Despite people.
Great vid!
Hi from Black sea 😊!
Great dive and awesome footage
good to see you selecting a good eating fish instead of a stringy older fish, great vid boys, lovely to see bass in big numbers, hopefully that latvian super trawler won't take them all.
Find it a little funny that garfish was that unfamiliar to you :D Normally a fish we see as a plaque when fishing, almost impossible to aviod.
Yeah great with Dan
Great video mate! You may want to clarify that its the 1st of November that it's catch and release only for recreational fishing for Bass.
Yup, this was filmed in mid October.
That is a badass Rover!
Totally, he doesn’t even lock it at the slipway.
Wow bro, amazing video!!! You always keep smashing all the walls mate! Amazing job... keep it up!
Cheers dude!
I've encountered decision fatigue while hunting doves. You have to lock on one and track it. Just pick one, for better or worse.
Great video guys 😀
What an incredible sight.
You both are cool guys... do more videos together!!!
Amazing video bass is the golden ticket for us spearing in west wales UK. How deep was that dive to the shoal at the bottom?? Soo pumped for future vids 🤘.
Between 12-17m.
@@DanielMann Awesome sight to see 👌
good job man...i like spearfishing..
Shoots and casually slides in that it was a record fish... CONGRATS Daniel!
Thanks Bradley, not exactly a prestigious fish but damn hard to hit 😂
good job master..
Wonderful. The Burbot in the US Great Lakes can reach 25 lbs. Wonderful as well to eat.
I love your choice in back ground music
