The BLACK SEA in Bulgaria is EPIC for Spearfishing🇧🇬 Not what I expected!

  • The Black Sea is somewhere I never considered going spearfishing until I spoke to Valentin Lyutskanov at the world championships in Spain. He said he would love to take us out diving to find some corvina off the coast of Bulgaria. It was beyond anything I could have imagined and one of the best days diving I've ever had in my life.

    Very very interesting not only to see the black sea underwater but also how plentyful the fish can be there.

      In Australia it's not needed for 99% of the spearfishing there to catch a feed. In Europe it's a way of being able to do things safer with less effort and therefore less fatigue. I know you won't agree but unless you've spent an extended amount of time fishing in the Mediterranean it might not make sense. Every technique has a time and place. The previous world champion I dived with said you should never variable weight dive to gain depth, only to make things easier once you have achieved that depth constant weight.

      @@DanielMann You're absolutely correct Dan, I'm not falling for that shit. In the true spirit of breath hold freediving the weight belt only counteracts the buoyancy in the wetsuit. In my mind it's a dogs way of saying I'm not scuba diving. If you spend a lifetime truely earning your catch you respect the process and yourself. So in conclusion I'm against drop weighting and fkn shark shields. Thanks for a healthy debate

    Heaven for Rapana eroding mussels if you did not tried yet you should try them nutritious and delicasy Back In my childhood I remember I had two handmade wooden spearguns was diving pretty much everywhere in Blacksea region back in Soviets still do so when I have time personally I prefer it over Mediterranean although our Summer residency is in Italy fish is not abundant although Im highly capable experienced freediver its tiring past 40 mt dives nowadays collecting mussels clams razor clams snail catching big octopus crabs and lobster with gaff hole diving with hawaiian sling so I switch my spearfishing life its much more healthy than just spearing fish😂 Safe Dives Bro.

  • @vrokhlenko
    @vrokhlenko 13 дней назад

    Back in the ussr that fish was a prized target - you had to dive deep for it and sometimes it was very difficult to extract it from their holes. The biggest I saw was 5 kilos very shallow - I got so excited that I missed at point blank range. I never saw so many in a school. However outside of Corvina (Brown meagre) this place looks desolated. Did you see any mullet there?

    • @DanielMann
      @DanielMann  13 дней назад

      I've heard there are much bigger Covina around the Ukraine coastline of the Black Sea. I saw mullets, snarpsnout sargos, wrasse and stingrays. They also get massive sea bass in winter, one of Valentin's friends shot one 12kg this year.

    I cannot stand how this guy fakes his ‘British’ accent. If you go back a couple years, he sounds like a true blue Aussie. There’s a pretty clear difference between an organically changing accent and someone putting it on. I know a bloke that puts on an English accent still to this day, they sound exactly the same. What’s the problem mate are you not proud to be Australian??

I would recommend you find a cove or bay downstream of large fish farm if you want to see shoals. but be prepared for bad visibility 🥸
