I liked that Isha had mustism.
I then felt terrible about preferring mute children in shows/films.
Now I realize the peak difficulty of writing and finding a fitting actor for a child character that doesn't make or break the scene.
But holy crap, the more I think about it. Arcane took full advantage of Isha being a street-smart kid with a disability to show Jinx finally finding peace and human connection.

    • @pugisherpug4366

It also connects to what Jinx said when floating with Silco. Her whole life she's always had voices "always bossing her around" telling her what to do and what to be even if not intentionally doing that to her. Last season we saw how when people contradicted themselves Jinx could start to spiral from the paranoia and fear. "you're ready", "you're not ready", "your sister's gone", "you found out she came back... you lied". It forms question's of what people think of her truly where with Isha she was purely actions. Which says more.

i absolutely adore the parallels between isha and powder. in episode 6, when vi holds jinx back from saving isha, i immediately thought of marcus holding vi back from saving powder.
i also cant help but think about that one tumblr post that says "be the person you needed when you were younger." i feel like isha is finally jinx's catalyst for self love by being exactly like powder. powder needed her sister, but didnt get her. so now jinx is the sister isha needs. i adore them

@@ShrubbyCanine It's a parallel in the story, not necessarily the character. To be fair, I could see an argument that Marcus had good intentions with holding Vi back, she would have probably died if she tried to save Powder in that moment. But while that COULD be the case with Marcus, it definitely IS the case with Vi holding Powder back. There were no ulterior motives in that moment, she wasn't holding Jinx back to allow Isha to kill her father, she was just trying to protect Jinx, that's it. Vi is nothing if not a character that wears her emotions and intentions on her sleeve.

    • @christopherm.1258

You could also see it as Vi becomeing the person Vander wanted her to be. Vander wanted her to think more about the consequences before acting. Old Vi would have run towards Vander to protect him from the soldiers, calm him down and stopping Isha.

Also, 2 other things about episode 6: 1. Loosing Isha is a loss of innocence. It's going to play into what enfolds in the next 3 episodes. 2. With Victor dying, the commune utopia died with him. This is also play out with what happens next. The peace and utopia didn't die, but changed.

Isha's helmet is pretty interesting, it's like it symbolizes protection, being a helmet and all, and it falls off when she falls on Jinx and is caught by the goons, because she's unprotected, but then Jinx puts it back on, because Jinx is the protector of Isha going forward, but Isha has these desires to also protect Jinx as well, the name Isha meaning 'One who protects', so whenever she follows Jinx or runs after her, her helmet always falls off.
The first time, she puts it back on to continue to follow Jinx, but as she follows after her more, she doesn't really need it as much, she's opening up to Jinx, showing her vulnerability. As she grows closer to Jinx, she wears it less and less, and then even dyes her hair blue, fully connected to Jinx, no longer wearing it aside from very rarely. It instead becomes a source of comfort, she uses it to feed Warwick, and it becomes a source of sustenance.
That's why in her final scene, she pushes it on more, symbolizing her last big act of protection, but then it also falls off, as she lets herself go, solidifies her connection to Powder and Jinx, using 3 hexcores just like Powder and having hair and finger guns just like Jinx, and it also falls off so that she can be vulnerable physically enough to sacrifice herself.
Bad at explaining, but I hope this interpretation makes sense
Edit: just realized also that she decorates her helmet to be Jinx-like in Act 2, signifying Jinx as her protector and the one she wishes to protect

    2 things
i like how as soon as jinx became aware of isha being captured, she had an immediate psychotic break with all the scratches and hallucinations, its like losing a new friend (essentially little sister really) immediately pushed her over the edge away from the relatively stable jinx to the unstable one we've come to know
and also that last tip on switching focus is genuinely amazing writing advice

    • @Slysucka
      @Slysucka 57 минут назад

The worst thing is they rushed that part, which really annoyed me.
A great detail was when Sevika slammed her hand on Jinx's table and mentioned Silco. Then Jinx had that small camera flicker. Reminding us that she can go back any time.
And then when Isha was taken and she found out, that moment was epic but then she went back to her 'goofy-self'.
There were a lot of corny jokes, the sisters' reunion was also way too rushed and also Viktor's cult was kinda a weird idea. Loved Jayce's return though.

I think that another part of why Jinx comes off as cool is that part of most Americans idea of cool is either centered in breaking the rules or being able to set the rules for one's self or the world around them. That's why both authoritarians and rebels can both be characterized as cool despite having very different representations of that "coolness".

She was a young girl that idolized Jinx as her hero and surrogate sister thats why when she impersonates Jinx I think it isn't that she wants a rebellion, but the fact Isha wants jinx to live as the hero Isha sees her as.

Isha does both at the same time the first and only time she pulls the trigger.

Small detail from the 1st act that I wanted to point out but I joined the previous video too late. So I’m joining as fast as possible. For the fight song “ashes and blood” in episode three I think I found a unique detail that you could make a short on,(because I would like more people to see it rather then just putting it on Reddit, also I love you takes on things)
Please support this comment for priority.
When the music team is making the songs, they are made to scene and are spoken through different characters, so I tried to figure out whose voice this song was through.
This is my theory, it’s not a who, but a WHAT.
I think it’s sung through the perspective of the arcane itself.
For small details, the repeating vocal in the song that encompasses it could be seen as wild runes. But also a big thing for me is the starting sound of the song and the pauses. I’ll get to that later
Line “why would you let this voice set in your head, it is meant to destroy you.” Refers to victor who’s not even in the scene.
“You summon storms you play with nature, now watch it hurt you” is very much Jayce because as Ekko said “so you’re telling me you pissed the arcane off with all of your demands.”
The next line could be Jayce but also could be Ambessa, “why would you want to shape the world in your hands”Also just want to point out the structure by having those pauses which remind me of Jayce saying that the runes have sentences but they were short, not a full conversation.
I could keep going but the give away for me was the last line of the song that wasn’t in the chorus.
“Every sin will be forgiven, if you lay down your weapons to the ground”
It does not match the scene at all, even if the all the weapons are put down, everyone still hates each other for their actions. So what’s going on, it’s not the characters actions that are forgiven, it’s the mass use of hextech that will be forgiven. This then leads into the same sound we had when the song began. This sound in movies and film is after a nod to danger.
The 2nd act supports my theory when Victor say that it was chaotic and a singularity. I just checked, key words, Skye says the word ancient. But victor point out the key word “voice”. May I have your thoughts please.

Cool theory! But I think it`s the arcane talking to Jayce.
“why would you let this voice set in your head, it is meant to destroy you.”
Jayce let the voice of progress (or the voice of his arrogance)choose his actions.
“You summon storms you play with nature, now watch it hurt you”
He summoned storms and played with nature, when he created Hextech.
“why would you want to shape the world in your hands”
Jayce wanted to shap the world into a better on with Hextech. It also makes sense that it asks him "why". Why did he want to creat Hextech? Yeah, he wanted to improve life and he saw how it can save lifes, but why was he so determind to creat Hextech, that he was ready to sacrifice everything for it? Makes sense that the arcane doesn`t understand that.
“Every sin will be forgiven, if you lay down your weapons to the ground”
It was also Jayce, who created the Hextech weapons. The arcane wants to say to him "just stop!"

I know this is a little of topic but I need to go on a tangent about this and everyone is talking about the fact that Isha died but can we just talk about that final Act 2 scene for just a second. (this is my opinion so feel free to disagree)
The writers of Arcane managed to show the audience the meaning of life in one beautiful and touching scene. What Isha did was selfless and purely out of love. So many people fear dying and mourn the life they didn't have as they are full of regret and wish they had more time. That is not the case with Isha. She dies knowing that she lived a meaningful and fulfilling life, she has no regrets. So, she dies with a smile. She didn't do it to be seen as a hero or as this big self-sacrificing gesture, no, she did it because she knew she had to and knew that her life was probably the best it ever was going to be, and we see that as she is running and the moments with Jinx flash by. Her motivations are heroic and pure.
Compare this to Marcus in season one. He imagines pulling the pin and killing Silco with him. His motivations weren't heroic and selfless like Isha's, they were selfish. Marcus regretted so many things in his life up to that point and pulling the pin was just a way to make himself feel better for all the bad things he had done. A way of relieving his conscience. He didn't live a meaningful life so going out with a bang (literally) would hopefully forgive everything that he did.
So, what Isha's scene shows is that the ultimate goal isn't death it's life, it's living. So many people die sad and scared but we shouldn't. One of the main messages in ep 6 is that dying is inevitable and it happens to everyone. And that is so scary but if you have lived meaningfully there is nothing to be scared about and you can do what Isha did, look back at all the best moments of your life and smile, thanking the people that made it so special.
So live life meaningfully people !!!

i don't know if i agree. I think it's the art of the lone/renegade song/scenes that draws us in, asking questions while being given a lot of information without dialogue. And i think that's the important factor: without dialogue
there's something about being shown a story or scene without a word spoken that draws us in.
Next i would say it's less about Jinx being charismatic and more about her numb/idgaf attitude. Which is understandable since the last time we saw her we saw all of her distress and emotion out in the open, so the radical yet logical shift gets us asking "what is she going to do? what is she up to? When is the chaos returning to Jinx"
especially since chaos is seemingly everywhere and should be where she thrives, but no -- she is numb to it all. And i think that draws us in more: this agent of chaos is disinterested when chaos is at its peak, choosing to ignore rather than participate.
The parallels and call backs i think reignite our bond with the character. It's been 2 years since we saw Jinx, (even if half of us or more binged the first season leading up to act1's release ^_^) so those echos of Powder and Silco in the present-day Jinx triggers in our head the familiarity and closeness.
Her speech to Isha reminded me a lot of the Heath Ledger's Joker. For some reason "My card" that Jinx says at the end communicated to me that resemblance. Joker is another agent of chaos, maybe he'd said something similar? idk.
It had this odd apathy, in complete contrast to the callback when "that's me" was more energetic, and contrast or contradiction engages us, it grabs our attention.

I think this is further intesrting, because a lot of the big moments that were caused by Jynx on Accident trying to help others out, it seems that now , Jayce is trying to do the right thing but now he's messing things up on accident as well. So I think Jayce and Jinx are almost kind of foils in a sense and we're seeing a bit of a reversal of how they're impacting the world around them.

Now that she’s Jinx the only one to hallucinate would be silco, but he believed jinx was perfect, so he doesn’t haunt her like the others.

I feel like calling Jinx cool in this scene is a bit of a mis-read. She's not indifferent to the conflict because she thinks she's above it, it's because she's borderline suicidal. Not necessarily that she wants to kill herself, but that she's waiting to die/be killed because she's still in the point where she has lost everything (primarily Silco and any chance to reconnect with Vi). As evidence of this mind-state consider her statement to Vi at the end of their confrontation in front of the wind goddess' mural (I don't remember the exact line but something to the context of: I'm glad it was you); she's trying to find the appropriate end to her story. She wants to help people (referenced in your video about the Sevika/Smeech fight where she makes Sevika a new arm "because it's something I could fix."), but hates how her legacy is only death and suffering even when that's not her intention, and that failure has left her in despair.

They don't stand out the same way that something like the Jinx/Ekko fight of season 1, because there is just SO MANY of them.

I had this theory about Jayce last week that the reason that he changes his mind so often is that he's trying to evaluate what other people need and reacting to that. He's not like Silco who has an idea what people need and then forcing it on them. He likes it when people come to him with a problem that he can fix. Then the last few episodes came out and I have no idea what's going on with him.

i wanted to add how its interesting that while they portrayed jinx as cool af, they still had her get trampled by a falling child. usually such scenarios are comedic affect or a cool character would dodge/catch. but she didnt. she fell and got back up and stayed nonchalant. plays into a point you made in your "how arcane writes women" video about believing vi was strong not just because she can throw punches, but also take them. jinx is cool, but that doesnt mean she cant be thrown off guard, its how she reacts that makes her cool

The Cool Character segment is really interesting to me because I can apply it to a different character who I've always been confused as to why she is so cool- Jackie Lynn Thomas from Star vs the Forces of Evil. This show's writing gets rough sometimes but she as a character is so cool and it has always baffled me how that is.
I had a whole tangent about cause and effect in characters and how a lot of times shows lean on familiar traits as a crutch to give characters personality but I deleted it because it was off-topic and a little rambly but essentially this video game me food for rehashing (of something I've thought about before).

    Spoilers:
Isha's last act is written beautifully. The connections are there, Isha using jinx's weapon, which uses hex crystals but a stable as bullets to kill Warwick who mutated Vander, just like from season 1 and if you've seen season 1, jinx (as powder) uses hex crystals but unstable, and it's explosive. Meanwhile, that shot was explosive yet silent

I find it so very interesting how Jinx seems to have been able to put her ghosts behind her. Like she couldn't accept that they were dead before, and so they haunted her. But after everything from Season 1, especially the death of Silco, she's been forced to accept it and this lets these "spirits" rest.
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    [Spoiler for Episode 5]
And that the only brief instance we really get of the S1 Jinx Madness graphics is when Isha is in danger, it can literally be seen as an "episode". This isn't her constant, but it's still IN there. When this person who has become her new family is in danger, all those fears, regrets, that manic energy, comes storming back. But then she HANDLES it. She puts the lid on that box and just gets to WORK.

His actions killed Isha just like his actions as a councilor killed kids (meaning even though he isn’t a councilor anymore to not be a part of this anymore he is still in it just like before).

Jayce didn’t kill Isha (like he did Rannies son).
However he killed Viktor creating a situation where Isha needed to sacrifice herself to prove herself and keep her family save (like him actively keeping the Hexgates open killed the council as without the Hexgates Silco couldn’t rise to the top of Zaun).

    • @saltedscimitar
      @saltedscimitar 7 часов назад +8

@@ulyssecohenner9640 Yeah Arcane is full of character's making bad decisions (often when there are no good ones to be made). Jayce just has a habit of over correcting after every single one leading to an equally bad decision on the opposite side of the spectrum. This paints Jayce as pretty inconsistent, which I think leads to all the hate he gets. But that's part of his character. He doesn't haggle, there is no middle ground in his eyes.

The word "poow" itself speaks to the softening you are noting - of the onomatopoeia available for a gunshot ('pow', 'bam', something more fricative [though that would be harder to write out as impactfully], even 'pew'), "poow" is incredibly disarming.
