I lived in Oakridge at the time until 2011. On 2011, me and my parents moved to Bend

I have DirecTV HD and they bundle EAS alerts as part of DirecTV Active ... It would be kinda cool if we had a feed like that because I have my DirecTV box running into my computer so I can record that kind of stuff. With this setup, I have to monitor the radio or go to weather.gov, unfortunately

Since you live in my state, were you around to see or hear if there was an EAS message distributed on Saturday, October 17th at some time around 10:00AM?

Damn... lol. Before people bitched to the NWS Office in Moon Township... we averaged about 3 STW EAS Activations every night we get bad weather in the summer. Now it's only when we have flash floods, Tornadoes, or anything that can be considered an immediate threat.

I might see where you're coming from. I think it's a kind of fail safe method so that others can join the source before the first SAME tones are sent. I think if they joined the source as the tones were sent out, it would seem like a failure. Is this what you were looking for? If not, explain a little more.
