As the owner of a purchased in 2020 18' Elatntra Sport DCT, I was exited for it's platform mates refresh and a little jealous of the much more dynamic interior (actually having silver door pulls for starters) Very happy with this platform for what it cost. Handles great, dampened perfectly if you ask me. I recommend everyone at least get a K&N drop in if not get rid of the air box and the car gets its breath much better and maybe a slight improvement in mileage, also a catch can. I swapped for a catless downpipe and unlocked a ton of boost and now I get a higher typical running average of 28.8 mpg.

Those that have been down the harder compact factory riding car ownership life are assuredly familiar with what I am about to suggest, so for everyone else, consider dropping down in wheel size from 18". Already have planned my 16" swap. The more tire sidewall, the more cushion. And, if you know how to shop for wheels, you can drop some rotating mass weight for greater efficiency that correlates to better braking, increase in power to the pavement, and more affective performance and lower wear on the suspension/brakes. So many reasons to do this. Nothing but win.

@@xCoyfish as much as most dealerships will say that inventory is scarce, i've seen the dealership I bought my forte gt from had 2 at the time of me purchasing mine, and the very next week i went to get the floor mats and spare key fob (I drove off with the car around the time the parts shop was closed) I saw another one in a completely different color. Look around for the bigger dealerships and they'll more than likely start getting more and more inventory in the near future. Keep your ear to the ground on these, and just keep in mind that worst case, they'll try to upsell you like they did me. (sticker price with the GT2 package was about 27k, they were asking 32k.) Trick that worked for me was 'make sure the sales rep/manager is clear that you dont NEED the car, but you WANT it, and they're willing to budge a bit on the price for the car and if you're trading in one like me, they'll give you over your KBB value for your car. Hell, I got 9500 for my 2015 chevy cruze with just shy of 90k miles on it.

I have a '20 GT and agree with almost every point you've made in this video. There are some things that I would change and some that should be standard equipment by this time. After all, we are in the 3rd decade of the 21st century. The 1st item on my list is the backup camera which should not be constantly exposed to the outside. I live in the northeastern part of the US and that camera will get dirty much too easily. The camera should be hidden and only deploy when the vehicle is put into Reverse. I would also include a 360-degree camera system as standard. I love the headlamp design and they are quite bright which makes driving at night much better. I'm glad to see that they have upgraded the driving/fog lights to LED units. However, the headlamps should be dynamic headlamps at this point. If you aren't familiar with those, they will turn with the steering to show the road ahead into turns. I would like to see the newest Laser Adaptive Headlamps but, at this price point, I can't really expect that. I do enjoy the automatic high beams but, these types of systems do still have some issues. I also agree that the turn signals should be integrated into the main units and that they should be full LED, and they should also be dynamic as well. For example, the turn signals on modern Audis or Mustangs. They should also keep them as separate amber signals that don't use the brake lights. I personally very much dislike cars that use brake lights to indicate turns instead of having amber signal units.
The windshield wipers should be rain-sensing, automatic wipers by now. There should also be a Heads-Up Display unit to help keep your eyes more on the road ahead. Mazda has done this and Kia is certainly capable of doing this without making the car overly expensive. I also agree with having a digital gauge cluster which could be an upgraded version of what the K900 used to have. That unit had some pretty cool features that I think would be appreciated by Forte owners. The power driver seat should have at least a 1-position memory function like the older models used to have. I appreciate that it has ventilated front seats but, I believe they could improve them so that they work better. Sometimes during the summer months, I can barely tell that they are functioning and, I do have synthetic leather seats. I do agree that the seats are nice but, they can get uncomfortable after you've been in them for a couple of hours. I think having active dampers in the suspension could help with the comfort level on longer road trips but, the seats could be more comfortable in general. Again the price point and that this is based on an economy car could be an issue. However, this is the GT and the Honda Civic Si used to have this tech at a similar price.
I do realize that my bar is set rather high. However, I do believe that car companies can do better by this point in time without making a car like this cost $35K or $40K. Speaking of which, I'm still irritated that Kia does not get a version of the Hyundai Elantra N. I didn't mind so much when it was just the Veloster N since there was no Kia version of that car. Yes, I could get the Elantra N but, I personally think it looks hideous! I know that what I'm about to say will sound completely insane so, gird your loins. I want an N version of the Forte (they could call it the GT-R) that has All-Wheel drive and, can we bring back the Koup? I know it would be expensive to bring back the 2-door but, I used to have a 2010 Forte Koup SX that I loved. I also used to own a 1990 Eagle Talon TSi AWD that was an amazing car for its time. In fact, I wish I still owned that car and this explains why I want that insane version of a Kia Forte Koup GT-R.
