    I have a 22 GT manual as well and I’m so glad I bought it. Such a blast to drive and it literally has everything I could ever want in the car.

      22 is such a huge upgrade from the 21!! Heated seats, automatic climate control, seats, and so much more. 23... no differences. So glad I bought this car!!

      I have the DCT which is still a blast. And I love being able to drive it with the paddles or the shifter. I normally don't just shove it in drive and go. I usually want some intuitiveness in my driving experience.

    The Forte is being discontinued after this year, and the K4 thats replacing it has no talk of having a GT model, nor a manual option. So 3:39 hits home; my 2024 GT that I just got is probably one of the last manual cars Kia will ever make. Such a shame.

    I have the same car and absolutely love it! I wish the gears were closer together, but nothing a short throw shifter can't solve. Also, I like to keep it in sport mode all the time...but starting smoothly in sport mode is a bit of an adjustment. I think the love for manuals is genetic within my family because my little sister refuses to drive an automatic as well.

      your savage bro!! I only go into sport mode when I am driving aggressively. most of the time, i'm chill in normal mode trying to get into the high 30's for MPG. I hate that 70mph is at 3k RPM, but whatever.

    I drove a manual for many years. If stop and go traffic wasn't so bad around here sometimes I'd do it again.

    • @JoshMcAllister
      @JoshMcAllister Год назад +3

      that's the reason my wife hates them. you get going, and then you have to stop. you get going, and then you have to stop. I get it. sort of... it doesn't bug me or change my opinion of it.

      I'm with you. I hate all the traffic lights. I'm stop, go, stop, go for my 16-mile commute home. It takes 45 minutes sometimes. A bicycle would almost be faster, but then, I'd get run over. : )

    The reason why I’m on here is because I will be getting my 2023 Kia forte GT with a manual transmission Monday. But yes man I agree with you. I love Emanuel it gives you something to do while you’re driving to me automatics or very boring. And I also have ADD. If they bring back manuals, you will actually have less distracted driving because then people will not be looking at their cell phones and texting while they’re driving. Also, it’s a very good anti-theft deterrent. Also, auntie relative to cause they’re not gonna be borrowing your car. Also, it keeps girlfriends from driving your vehicle. They love to watch you shift gears but they don’t want to do it. But I’m glad you’re enjoying your car. I believe I will enjoy mine.

      Literally happened to me in 2012 with my Suzuki. We forgot a spare key (needed to make a copy and forgot it was in the glovebox) and one morning I go outside and my car door is open… and key is in the ignition. I was like, why didn’t they just drive off and steal it. Then I was telling the story to someone later and they asked “was it a manual”?! And then it hit me… they couldn’t find the D!! Lol

    tips for shifting out of first so it doesn't feel sluggish? I've been driving manual for about a year now but still struggle with smooth upshifts. Great video.

    • @wwjoshdew
      @wwjoshdew  Год назад +4

      Ugh. That’s hard to explain. My wife struggles with it too and I don’t know how to explain it. The art is letting go slowly, but quickly. Like, taking almost a full second I guess, before fully letting off. It’s definitely an art and takes time. I still mess it up from time to time.

    2:00 I also have adhd and not only is MT more enjoyable it makes me a safer driver because it passively makes me focus on driving because of all the little things you can do to make driving engaging (the no-brake minigame, practicing downshifts & heeltoe, practicing smooth driving and making the car seem like an AT) and AT makes my mind wander because theres nothing to do and causes many accident close calls

    • @wwjoshdew

      I 100 percent agree with you!! With an auto, it’s just constant thinking about random stuff and definitely not as safe. With a manual, it’s constantly thinking about what gear I should go into next.

    Hey there. Been looking into getting this exact same car (even manual transmission). I wanted to ask how its been going so far? I am currently with my 16-17 year old scion TC manual and finally looking to upgrade. How does it do on snowy roads? I hear its an over all fun car and best bang for your buck. Here in South FL its hard to find one to test drive but hoping this weekend I can finally test one out. Thanks!

    I love driving manual, currently have a Mazda 6 manual, and looking to downsize into a sport compact with a manual. The Forte GT is very high on that list. However, I injured my ankle the other day, and the following day, my clutch pedal never felt heavier. I was grimacing in pain every time I had to up or down shift. It was quite excruciating. After that experience, I am also rethinking the DCT option on the Forte. However I just don't trust a DCT for long-term reliability.
