THANK YOU! The best 4-braid video I have found. I see how, after the braid is complete, he presses/rolls out the ends so that they are thin, before tucking them under. Will definitely try this technique.

Wanted to thank you for the clear instructions (watched other of your braiding tutorials, too). My braids came out perfect. However, even with just egg white, the tops were too browned. IS I tried the syrup method (warm water and golden syrup stirred together) and that created a nice shine with just a hint of colouring.

Thank you. Very helpful to see how you tucked the ends under. I never considered rolling the ends just a bit before tucking them.

I restarted this 6 times until I turned my phone upside down and then could finally do it. What makes it easiest to follow the "down to the middle & replace" to the side is to put the side strands straight out to the side so as not to get them confused.

4-braid challah sequence (start with squat rolls)
    1 to 4
    3 to 1
    4 to 3
    2 to 4
    1 to 2
    3 to 1
    4 to 3
    2 to 4
    1 to 2
    3 to 1
{repeat this sequence until the dough ends)
To finish, squish the tips, roll tips, and tuck each tip/end underneath the challah braid.

good video but does not help to learn the 4 braid challah as the camera disappears and then goes back and forward. please do focus on the braiding and stay there so we can follow all in one continuos shot. thanks

I need to understand why my ropes end up with lines as I am rolling. So frustrating. I ended up taking all the dough, kneading, reproofing and the same thing happened.

I need to follow your advice and not do mine so tight. I always end up with pale gaps where it tears while baking.

This is NOT the video to use for a 4 strand. #1 - why would they ever show his face while you are trying to figure this out. #2 - it's upside down...in other words they are not filming from you perspective. Find a different tutorial.

That's right! Upside down perspective that is difficult to follow. Anyone watching on their mobile would need to lock the screen and flip the phone

If you wouldn’t mind, I’d really appreciate a slower speed video. I was trying to follow along... it started out nice and slow and then I got totally lost when he was saying over the the middle and replace super fast. I certainly don’t expect mine to come out like a professional baker but again it was way to fast for an amateur to follow along! Very nice videos though!!!
