Thank you! My Catholic grandmother introduced me to Kosher food in Chicago 65 years ago. Only now at 70, I'm learning how to braid Challah per YOU TUBE. This is the best food I have eaten, but have purchased it from the experts. With this video showing the refined technique, I will try.
My grandma was Czech, and she was a great cook who made our family rave. The Eastern European food she made like sauerkraut and pork wasn't for me ever re content. Am half "UK" and love chicken soup. Here in the Southern USA, sometimes it's hard to find the "best of the best" of some ethnic foods. So we cook it. :-)
You sure took my anxiety over braiding a 5 strand challah and blew it out the window. Your demonstration was great and I look forward to making the specialty challah at a future simcha.
did this today with your tutorial THANK YOU SO MUCH because i was about to have a MELTDOWN 🤦🏽♀️ thnx to my daughter for finding you NOW I’m a new subie‼️🥰🥰
Hi, do you use 1 batch of dough and divide it by 8 or are you using 2 batches of dough? I use 515grams of flour. Thankyou Your videos are hhe best I have found and are so eas to follow. Thankyou
This 5 strand Challah braid easy done, it has a flat shape to place another 3 strand top an opposite way made it looks complicated design. Need 8 strand total
We have these all broken up into short segments so you can pick which on you want to watch, they are all in this playlist ruclips.net/video/d93_c8meeB0/видео.html
Looks amazing. Is the baker tribe? i mean does he understand Hebrew? simcha challah for those that are wondering how to pronounce it. Looks and i bet tastes amazing.
12-16 inches, as desired. But don't be overly concerned about the length - shorter strands will result in a shorter plumper challah while the longer thinner strands will result in a longer thinner challah but note that a longer thinner challah is harder to manage/hold (after baking) without breaking.
Luv all ur vids , always learning somtin from them. I know ur a profesionnal and i wouldn't want to insult u but i checked all ur vids on braided challah as the 2, 3 , 4 , 6 that were very nice . I think this one is wrong : it's not a 5 braids technique but a 3 braids technique made with 5 pieces instead of 3 . The final result is still very nice but clearly not what a 5 braided dough should look like.. Thanks for ur very interesting vids ....
@@jamiegeller Hi Like i said if u read it well , the final result was a very nice bread ... meaning that i liked it . All i am saying is that the technique u are using is nothing else than the 3 braids technique and i am pretty sure that u are aware of that coz very obvious .. . There are maybe lots of ways to do a braid but wich ever way u choose , the final result is always the same : No harsh feelings here , just different opinions and we talked about it ... right ? I wish u a very nice one and will continue watching ur vids .....
How about you take a rubber band, a hair doo dad, or a ribbon and pull that hair back and LEAVE IT ALONE instead of touching and flipping your hair with bare hands and then touching the food that you serve to PEOPLE? You know they do make employees by CODE wear hair nets for a reason in commercial settings. There is NOTHING as nasty as pulling a hair out of your mouth from food inside your mouth. Just pull it back ad then leave it alone.
It's amazing how many times Jamie touched her hair while braiding the dough strands...... It should be recommended, in every food prep demo, to always tie back one's wig or hair when one chooses to wear it long instead of allowing it to dangle over the food one is preparing. There is no food less appetizing than the bite that comes complete with a hair wrapped in it...
Jamie I normally love your videos but this got a thumbs down from me because this is not how you braid a 5 strand challah ! Still think you're great but I ruined my bread because using this method it looks exactly like a three strand. I do like the cool combo at the end of the video, but as someone said I think this braid is called fish tail.
There are different ways to make all the braids, this is how I do the 5 braid and it might be like a fish tail, sorry that it didn't work well for you.
Jamie Geller Can you change the title to say "5 Strand Fish Tail braid"? Or at least put it somewhere in the description? Some people may be looking for how to braid fish tail or they may want to actually see the other 5 strand method, and changing the title would make the video more accurate. Great video quality and editing though (camera angles etc). I normally really enjoy everything you post and my partner and I watch your videos together! I was just braiding my dough about 30 mins before candle lighting and didn't watch the video fully before braiding. At least it came out tasting good! ;) Thanks so much
Finally! A challah braid I can follow!
😊

That’s cool I am glad you like my culture from a Jew
This was super helpful. It was so nice of you to share this impressive (and surprisingly simple) technique. Thanks!
But this is so EASY?? I thought a 5-rope was going to be hard! Thank you!
You're so welcome!
Thank you for this Mrs. Geller Shabbat Shalom
Perfektní ukázka moc děkuji ur jsem to pochopila
Thank you so much! I have used your method to help me construct a cord braid as a bag handle - it is soo easy to follow!!
This whole time I thought it was daunting!! Thank you!! Definitely less complicated than a round one. I don't think I'll be able to do that 😅
LOVED the two breads combination.
Six too cimplicated.
Todah rabah for your vid💜
Glad you liked it!!
A dank, Mrs. Geller. I just used your video to help me braid a beeswax Havdalah candle.
amazing!
Very nice ,gonna tri it!! Interesting, how do you celebrate shabbat
Wonderful
This is amazing! Cool technique!
Thank you so much for showing

Yay, love to hear this.

Best and clever way for five braids
This is it

Wow, never thought I would be helping someone macrame :)
Toda raba.. done three, four and five.. getting ready for six. Shabbat Shalom.
Granted I'm working with paracord, not dough... this is has been most helpful... and dead easy! Cheers!
Jack Reacher exactly what im planning to use. I have trouble understanding patterns and this seriously helped me. So glad i found this video.
Same 😅
Sooooo cool and easy!!
I love this channel ❤
this is really essay thank you, can you also do 46789 in one video
We have these all broken up into short segments so you can pick which on you want to watch, they are all in this playlist ruclips.net/video/d93_c8meeB0/видео.html
Very good
Do you guys ever work on awake people
You make it easy! Thank you.
You are very welcome.
That's the most easiest thing waoo
Waoooo, we love to cheer too
Yes yes
Congrats! Did you split the first dough at very beginning in 8 equal strands? thanks
Looks amazing. Is the baker tribe? i mean does he understand Hebrew? simcha challah for those that are wondering how to pronounce it. Looks and i bet tastes amazing.
Yes, he lives in Israel.
Joy of Kosher lol wonderful. We are both British tribe that's why i asked. Looking forward to seeing these bad boys baked. ATB Moshe Down Under.
Super!😉😀😀
Jamie...how long, inches, cm, should a 5 braid be rolled out?
12-16 inches, as desired. But don't be overly concerned about the length - shorter strands will result in a shorter plumper challah while the longer thinner strands will result in a longer thinner challah but note that a longer thinner challah is harder to manage/hold (after baking) without breaking.
So, i tried this and then overcooked it. How long would you bake the simcha challah?
Depends on the size of the loaf. 325F until done.
I just did it.😅😅😅😅😊😊😊
Tamar is fine 🙂 just the way I have a very good one 👍 and a few other friends 😀 and 👍 👪
and how incomplete to not show the finished baked product
This series is broken up into several parts with the aim to show you how to make each kind of braid
so its a click bait series for clicks instead of just showing the whole result@@jamiegeller
We think it allows people to get to the specific piece of info they want rather than having to find it in a longer video
Honestly all that is, is a fish tail
Yup
Tamar is 🎉up now 😊and 👍 👪 in 🐄 🔥 ⏲️ 🙏 and 👍 👪 in 🐄 the first one 😊how are the family 😊🎉

There are of course lots of ways to make many of the multi-braids, so it's okay if you don't like this one.

That's a fishtail braid
Thanks , hadn't looked up the name of this braid yet.. incorporating
info for making wire jewelry, too.
I thought you were a psychic

That's not her real hair. She's wearing a wig.
@@Bananas904 I'd still like to see it tied back or with a head covering. BUT I loved this video.
It's amazing how many times Jamie touched her hair while braiding the dough strands......

That's a fishtail using 5 strands not an actual 5 strands braid
A few people have said that, but it is 5 strands.
Lmao are you serious? It's that easy? Never braided anything and thought this was going to a little complicated.
Yay this was cool I love being a Jew
😀

She still uses 5 strands
That's wrong you don't do it that way
How do you do it ?
It seems to have worked for her. And the rest of us.
