As an Italian person, a cat named Giacomo is hilarious. Also he's adorable.

Giacomo is such a handsome, fluffy boy. Kittens are a lot of fun, and maybe just a wee bit of work…
Glad you’ve come over to the right side of things: the cat side.

When you talked about the cat lady thing I remembered that this year has helped me confirm that all I really want to do in life is live by myself like a hobo on the beach. That is seriously my life purpose so knowing that has changed the way I live my life. I don’t want to go to work parties and socialise with strangers just to network anymore. I think people are always going to have a lot to say about others but we should just try and live our life.

Honestly never understood the “crazy cat lady”, “single lady with cats” stereotype, maybe people who call others that have never had a deep connection with an animal idk. My mom was a farm girl and so was always surrounded by animals and she wanted her kids to have animal friends too and learn that responsibility of taking care of other beings at a young age. At one point we had 10 cats, today we have 5, all of them we rescued off the streets ourselves. We don’t need to go to the shelter to adopt a cat, they just find their way to us on their own. Years ago we had a tomcat calmly walk through our front door while we were bringing in groceries and plop his butt on the couch like the owned the place. He was elderly and sick, so we just took care of him until he passed. Sometimes the “crazy cat lady” life chooses you 🤷‍♀️ just embrace it

What other people think of you and your life choices is a statement about them, not you. Also when we don't get enough sleep we don't think as clearly and our mood often drops. Focus on looking after yourself not on what others think. If your mind is controlling you, not the other way round, remember that the thoughts that your mind creates are not necessarily true and you don't have to believe them. If certain thoughts keep arising and they relate to a particular life experience, consider finding a counsellor who can help you work through it so you can shelve it. I'm a single bookish woman with one cat (I've had 5 at the same time, in the past), and couldn't care less what people think of that. Cats are fabulous! Wishing you all the best and look forward to seeing more of your videos. 👍 🐈 🐈‍⬛ 💙

Your story of the differences between Giacomo and Layla (Lila?) is so funny to me because I have two adorable cats (2.5 yrs old now) who do this too: one is careful in the litterbox, the other frequently digs to China.. one isn't a good jumper and generally behaves and the other is so friggin' curious everything (EVERYTHING) needs to be inspected and/or jumped upon. If they didn't look like twins, I never would've believed they are sisters. Giacomo looks so cute and loveable. I hope he and Layla will become great friends (hang in there).

Absolutely preach about the single cat lady jokes! Let’s be honest, any kind of joke about being a single cat lady is an attempt to embarrass or shame or at the very least make you question whether you’re making the “right” life decisions. I got a cat this year, my first cat that isn’t a family pet, and I am embracing the Muffy and me lifestyle! All the best with the kitten introductions

I, too, am a converted cat enthusiast after never owning a pet. When my partner's grandmother passed from COVID and let us with a cat I wasn't sure what to expect but I have been delightfully surprised. New reading buddy and chillest creature to roam my apartment.
Definitely going to pick up that last title! I probably enjoy 10% of contemporary relationship based novels I pick up (sorry Sally Rooney) but glad to see it's clicking for you.

I am on the side of really appreciating the inhabitable earth. I have seen many people talk about how negative it is, but I find it weirdly positive, because to me it shows that all the things and the activism I try to do is not pointless, because even if the climate crisis is already here, it is not a black and white thing. For every degree we manage to reduce the average temperature, it does make a difference

I've watched Nana Ekvtimishvili's directed movie In Bloom and loved it, so I'm definitely in the category that would watch a review on her book (that I intend to read). But your reviews, short or long, have a way of bringing out the beauty in things, whether that's the craft of the book or life. So I'm definitely in the category of someone who'd watch anything you'd post ☺️

Giacomo is soooooo cute! Omg 😱😍🥰 Hopefully Lila will come round! Yep we have a digger too: piles of litter outside the box! Digging to China is what we say too. I consider myself 100% a cat lady, who just happens to have a husband. 😆 just hold Giacomo in his bed during your book reviews and you’ll get views…. I love hearing your review of fairly obscure books: so bring it on!

I'll be looking forward for the in-depth Pear Field review, my edition will be arriving soon (but then I am always looking super chum with your videos). I had not foreseen spinsterhood to feel as natural and creativity-bolstering as I do today, I occasionally get the marriage comment but from others it doesn't hurt like self doubt hurts. Quite reassured Giacomo's name ain't Jacquemou from the French as I initially understood it ;)

First of all super adorable kitty! He looks like a fluffy munchkin. And I love the name Giacomo. You’ll probably end up “butchering” it with diminutives. If you do, please update us LOL! Secondly, so sorry to hear about the insomnia. Ughh I went through it myself. I don’t know when it ended but I feel like I just outgrew it. However, a suggestion that may work is if you have Spotify there are playlists of Binaural beats in delta waves. I use alpha waves for meditation. I find that it works. Please research the wavelengths and how it affects the brain. Delta = for sleep, Alpha = relaxed focus, etc.

Yes 🙌 Always nice to see you again. First of all Giacomo is gorgeous and mischievous 😏 Secondly I had too cats and being single and loving books I understand what you went through. And now having a dog and a cat it’s actually different 😂 As for the litter situation I remember that cats are very different when it comes to use a litter box ! My current cat is the dirtiest of all 😃 As for the reviews on non popular books I am actually following you because of that 😊 and I am always curious about Eastern European books. I saw The spear Field in my bookstore the other day but didn’t buy it -I had come for one book and was leaving with five 😊 but I will definitely buy it if you loved it. I am of course looking forward to watching your upcoming videos !

Always enjoy your videos no matter the topic. I know it may not seem worth your time to do a review with low viewership, but these are the type of books we need exposure to and are difficult to find elsewhere. Your channel gives books in translation another voice. Maybe change your channel name to. “ Come for the Cats Stay for the Books “ 🙃

Farmers and zoo-keepers also have cats. Special appreciation for cats (or any animal in particular) is a reminder of one's unique disposition and a reflection of one's need to be reminded that you still live in the created world (that is, the world which God authored). That being said, you can keep the cats. I'd rather keep sheep-dogs or kangaroos. (See also: "Out of the Silent Planet" ... "Thirteen Clocks" ... "The Wind in the Willows" ... all works by Beatrix Potter ... and "A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23" )

Generally, I avoid politics on BookTube. As for Climate Change, as frightening as it may sound even scarier to my mind is the possibility that politicians will offer some mega geo-engineering fix. Well, I grew up in an era where young people clamored about damage to our ecology. On the one hand, I'd say we did a good job raising the consciousness and on the other I'm open to the idea that maybe we were a little bit paranoid. Anyway, thx - lovely cat.
