      Screw ball bearings, they rust and are not water friendly, I will stick to the stock bushing, because its such a low RPM vehicle, it will TAKE FORVER before those bearings wear out or rust. Keep the bushings!

    I hadn’t checked to be sure but isn’t the smp same bolt pattern? Also, after two days of putting them in water, the bushings in the axles bind enough to cause pretty noticeable torque twist. No problem for cruising around but it’s enough to screw you when trying to crawl.

    • @2fmrc
      @2fmrc  2 года назад

      Yeah the smp is the same. I haven’t tried mounting it yet but there may be some clearance issues with it because of its diameter. The bushings are definitely a pain. I have a brand new axle straight out of the pack that has binding lol

    Awesome video Matt very informative definitely will be putting those gears in when I get one of these. I don't have one yet but what I do have is a question about the fcx24 . I just recently put the cayman xl links on the back and Gladiator Driveline that I had to cut a little bit to get it to work right but anyway it works just fine but under a load something's locking up like as I climb a hill it locks up so there's some kind of binding I can't figure out where it might be if it's in the axles or if it's in the transmission where do you think it might be ? I guess it could possibly be even in the portal boxes I'm not sure I didn't want to tear everything apart but I guess I'm going to have to right

    • @2fmrc
      @2fmrc  2 года назад +1

      I would try disconnecting the driveshafts and spin front and rear individually to see if you can feel binding in either. If those are both smooth you may have to tear into the transmission. It could also be the tires hitting the outer portal covers. I’ve had that happen with the max smasher especially. Maybe pull the wheels and tires when you check the axles to be sure!

    these are not really trail trucks. waaay too small. unless the "trails" are flat as pavement, they'll hang up everywhere. a 1/16 WPL with 100$ in mods would eat it alive on any trail just because of the size difference
    with that slow crawl gear, it looks... meh. good slow, awfully slow top speed. looks like a FCX24 in low gear. this either needs a 2-speed, or a pretty serious motor-esc upgrade. considering the popularity of traxxas, i'm betting we'll see a 2-speed within a year :)
    the comparison to the FJ is a bit... unfair as far as top speed goes, 'cause it has a (comparably) puny tiny 050 motor in it :) like A LOT of the FMS/Rochobby models, i think they spent all the $$$ on scale looks on a decent budget, and cheaped out on performance (and since nobody does any aftermarket motor mounts, upgrading that would be quite the endeavor... :( ). the FCX24 is one of the exceptions with FMS, not the rule, when it comes to crawling performance

To me, a trail vehicle should be like walking a dog. Able to keep up with the walking pace while traversing trail obstacles. This can't. Hard bodies have no real point on RCs. They only hinder performance (ALL performance abilities). Just my 2 cents that doesn't matter. If it makes YOU happy then it's a good RC.
