  • Team Corally Kagama XP 6S is a brutally fast off-road 1/8 scale RC truggy. It also seems to be quite tough - so much so, it makes me wonder: can it deliver the rugged durability of the X-Maxx AND the snappy speed of an Arrma Kraton?
    Durable stunts and speedy handling: could it really be the best of both worlds? Only one way to find out: let's test!

    Just wanted to thank you for sharing your experiences with the rc’s first, before looking at other RUclipsr reviews. I’ve always found your videos to be among the most informative, and a lot of that comes down to the other channels just repeating the same talking points, whereas you spend the time developing your own thoughts.

    @09:29 set your BEC on 7.4volt. Because the servo is a High Voltage servo and is 16kg on 6.0volt. So change it to 25kg by chancing to 7.4volt. plug in the hobbywing programcard or do it manually with the set button

    I'm looking forward to this! Was hoping you'd get one of these.. Corally cars are awesome. I have an Asuga, Sketer and Muraco and find them so good. Up the voltage with a hobbywing program card to 7.4v and the servo is great.. I just got my Asuga so haven't got used to it after only 2 outings ( great so far) but my Muraco is INCREDIBLE with Louise Pirate truggy tyres.. I could drive it all day.. My other rig is a 6S EXB kraton with max8 combo and i find the Corally cars just as good and even better value.. Also agree with others that 4S is IMO all you need.. Love your work Craig..

      @@RCTNTMy pleasure Craig.. This is my next purchase and I'm someone who's not a jumper myself and some mates meet somewhere set up a track and off we go.. Corally cars are notorious for their power.. The esc's are hobbywing but those motors I'm not sure about but they definitely sprinkle some magic sauce on them that's for sure..
      I was disappointed for you that the diffs all leaked I'd be writing to them as they are pretty receptive when you communicate with them I've found.. Be interested to see a follow up video when you do all the diffs to your liking and have some 4S packs run through it.. I reckon you'll love 4S.. Cheers..

      I'll definitely give 4S a try, but I do like it on 6S now I'm used to the near telepathic feathering the throttle needs when it's in the air! Sorting the diffs will be the big thing I think. Cheers!

    Try it on 4s. I enjoyed my Kronos far more on 4s, and it had the same motor and ESC as yours. It’s far more controllable, and is actually almost like running most other brands on 6s.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  9 месяцев назад +1

      I think you'll be okay, but you'll want to get better Velcro straps. Something strong. Height isn't really a problem in the car, aside from affecting centre of gravity.

      @Themlpg73 9 месяцев назад

      @@RCTNTThanks for your answer.👍 What do you think the value is if you compare the Kraton 6S Exb to the Kagama? Right now in my country, the Kraton is only like 60 euros more than the Kagama. Wich do you think is better value? I'm not gonna be jumping much.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  9 месяцев назад +1

      @Themlpg73 I haven't had the EXB yet but I'm looking forward to checking it out. Certainly, my V3 BLX has been exceptional, though I blew the rear diff gears recently. Replacements were cheap and I've driven that thing hard for some years at this point.
      I broke a few things on the Kagama sooner than on the Kraton, but it was also a lot cheaper and I understand their gears are stronger.
      Have you considered a buggy if you're not going for big air? It'll handle better again than these things if you're mostly staying on the ground. The Spark and Talion both look great. I'm going to review an ever cheaper 6S buggy, the Maverick Strada XB. Crazy value, by the look of it.
      But between the two you asked about, I think go with the one you like the look of better. You'll be happy with either of them, I think.

    You're killing me, Smalls. KILLING ME. Yet another car I'm adding to my "do want" list. Probably still way too fast for me, but it looks like a solid car. What a great review. If you're looking to convince people that they need this car, I think you nailed it.
    I'm wondering, would this benefit from a gyro? from what I saw in the driving, it looks like a gyro along with as you said a heavier centre diff oil is what it needs for best handling. What do you think?
    As for those mounting tabs that hold the wing on? I bet you could design and 3D print your own, might be easier, faster, and cheaper than trying to find and order them from the manufacturer. Could even build in some improvements to make them more durable. Worth a mention, I thought.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  Год назад +1

      Thanks :) The car made it pretty easy, it's super tough! Gyro? Nah, I don't think so. Center diff makes all the difference, really it does. I didn't have a problem with keeping it straight when I put my mind to it, which adds to the satisfaction of driving it, more than anything. I'm not sure about designing 'better' mounting tabs than the injection-molded ABS plastic, or whatever it is, but it's certainly something to consider. Maybe I'll try it!

    Well, Craig, as always, it was an awesome review. For $419, I think it's a good buy depending on what you want. I have a Traxxas Hoss for my Basher. Craig, I did some shopping around. I just found an E Revo for $550 new from Traxxas. Of course, out of stock! In my humble opinion, I would buy that over any of the others, including the Traxxas Max and so on. I'm not a Traxxas fan boy, but in my opinion, their the ones that started the speed game a long time ago, and it began with the Revo 2.2 Nitro machine. Cheers, Mate!!

    • @RCTNT

      @Noizy-Boy fair enough. I'd personally be avoiding the older traxxas designs. I've had em and I know where and how they break. I'll take advantage of the newer designs out there for better durability - though I respect and understand your choice!

      It is loud but this is how they are. Their gear strength is better than traxxas and arrma, I understand. When it's all metal, you get noise.

      My mesh seems okay. It's half a mm of movement began spur and pinion, when you jiggle the spur. That's about perfect.

    Common complaint on Corally,s is not coming with serrated wheel nuts, you either need to change out to serrated nuts or thread locker on the stock nuts. As you have found the battery straps are way to thin, a lot preffer running 4s which really makes the truck not so crazy & more plesent to drive. They are also pretty fast on 4s, as you have more useable power right through out the throttle range. For a more fast ground hugging vehicle the Asuka buggy is also a great choice, as it dosen't constantly wheelie on 6s, due to the smaller wheels.

      We're discussing what it's like out of the box. Gotta start somewhere and by comparing stock cars, we can make useful comparisons. Not everyone will tune a car, either out of budget constraints, not knowing any better, or just wanting to keep it stock.
      Look at it this way: I present what it's like in stock form. That already gives you some good ideas on what you might want to change yourself. And that's the point of a review video, to a fair extent! Cheers

    Just ran my new kagama at our local track, it runs a lot nicer on 4s and smaller race truggy wheels but those battery straps are a joke. I like how team corally sell heavy duty straps like they know its an issue. I also had issues with the esc going into over temp shutdown while running 6s with the stock tyres which my mate with the asuga had the same problem, also its definitely worth chucking a fan on the motor, it gets hot without it.

    You have done another very good review. In watching the truck run, it reminds of when I go to a club race and watch the truggies. Many of the guys are out of control. It looks like a lot if fun. Would it better on 4S? I think people in my area of the states would by an Arrma or Traxxas because of parts availability.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  Год назад +1

      I've seen it said in the comments it might be better on 4S. That could be true - you'd get better run time out if it too. But I think the first step will be to change out that centre diff oil for a thicker fluid, it really needs it. Then? We'll see!

    I don't like it when people keep saying... "I'm barely touching the throttle" then its over and over again... When we all know that the initial throttle percentage can be a tested within the electronics from the factory. But what we do like is when you actually show us the full throttle... Smh

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  11 месяцев назад +2

      I showed you full throttle too, but the intent is to show what is like from the factory while also conveying the driving experience. You know, the fun part.
      I get you disapprove of how I've done it, but if you got the idea of what it's like to drive, then that's mission successful in my book. How would you do it instead?

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  3 месяца назад

      Sure, and we went over it before driving to some extent - but part of the point of the initial drive is to get the unboxed experience on camera, as many will do this themselves. I can demonstrate what folks can expect out of the box.
      Some cars need zero tuning and some need a lot. I'd not expect this car to need much, being a basher rather than a racer. But tuning is usually worthwhile, yeah.

    30 odd years ago Corally used to be a premium brand, making an expensive range of off road racing buggies. Oh how the mighty have fallen now producing a RTR basher.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  Год назад +3

      Did not know that, thank you for the info.
      I wouldn't look down on an RTR though, it's what sells today vastly more than kits. I've heard several industry guys say this now. Seems to be what people want.

    • @austinrhubarb
      @austinrhubarb Год назад +4

      If you think "premium brand" and "RTR" are somehow mutually exclusive, you sound like you need to learn more about modern RC cars. I own models from the likes of Losi, Arrma, FTX, Corally, Associated, and HPI... and most of them will destroy all but the most exotic kit cars.
      A friend of mine has plenty of Tamiya and Kyosho kit cars, and sure, they look pretty good and have nostalgia value, but they feel (and perform) like toys compared to any half decent RTR.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  Год назад +3

      I was with you for the first half. If you think about RTR models, they are all kits at some point, it's just who is building them varies between a manufacturer and contracted workers or the end customer. Instructions and process obviously will vary too, but all cars need to be built at some stage.
      I've just finished the Tekno SCT410 2.0 Kit and it'll be a ripper. I also built a few Tamiyas recently and they need to be driven with care.
      I think the bottom line is what the people will buy. I love kits and I love RTR vehicles too, same as you by the sound of it! Cheers

    • @austinrhubarb
      @austinrhubarb Год назад +1

      @RCTNT .... yeap, I agree with everything you said there buddy. I was just wanting to point out to the original poster that Corally shouldn't be considered as having "fallen" just because they make RTR's. I have a Radix 4 and an Asuga, and they are both very fast, very tough, racing style buggies.
      I'm certainly not anti-kit or anything; I guess I was just thinking of the numbers involved. For every high performing kit you can get (like your latest Tekno project), I bet there are 10 times as many RTR offerings that will offer very high performance that will satisfy 99% of RC buyers. I get that for the 1% that do genuine competitive racing, top end kits will still be the norm 👍
