Cirac1 greatsword mount and finisher do more damage than glaive anyways. If you are running glaive and getting outmounted despite having constant access to mounting attacks, it's time to step it up.
Feircy If you think the point of mounting is dealing damage - you are doing it wrong. If you have a GS and an IG is on your team and you steal the last mounting hit that the IG has been working on - you've wasted the IG's time, its main purpose (to tie up a monster) and wasted your own damage potential. IG on monster with GS attacking on the ground deals more damage than GS on monster with IG attacking on the ground.
Cirac1 if you think it matters who gets the final mount you're wrong. The IG gets better damage from those aerial attacks in instances where others can't hit, and everyone but the mounters damage is 0 during the animation. Regardless of who finishes the mount, everyone gets to smack it in the end.
Been playing since MH1. Nice to know that after all these years, I can still learn new things. Monster hunter is s beautiful world. It's where i grew up. There is so much here to learn and see. Beyond the monsters and the quest. Everything from the quirky palicos to the butt clenching fights, all of it is worth exploring. Don't worry too much about the lore. The main thing is that you embrace this world. It has so much charm and little details tht can be missed if you focus too much. I watched all your videos and am a big fan. You opened my eyes to so much of destiny's inner content and back story. You, in alot of ways, was the narrator of an entire world. But now, you've stepped into a brand new world. A world tht I've been in love with for as long as I can remember. And I can promise you that you won't find a more devoted player base. We love this game. We want it to get big. For far too long MH has been in the shadow of more popular western titles. And finally it's getting the love it deserves and I couldn't be happier. And I hope your content can pull even more hunters to this world. To sum things up, welcome to the world if Monster Hunter! It's a wonderful series and I hope tht it will bring you years of enjoyment and laughs as it has me and my fellow veteran hunters who have been here since forever. Keep up the good work Byf!
Plesioth is coming to World if the leak is anything to go by. I hope he has his original hitboxes so that new players will know the true definition of dread :)
if fatalis wears dead humans as its armor, then us using fatalis as armor means we are also using dead humans as armor. Maybe thats why hunters that wear it hear voices, its not the dragon we are using as armors but the bodies of our dead comrades. Creepy right, fuck this dragon for real.
I think Fatalis is especially chilling because he's an adaptation of our own ancient dragon myths which speak to an organic, maybe real, fear of an awesome vengeful creature of destruction
After hearing Fatalis is coming to MHW and listening to the legend of the black dragon itself and the destruction of Castle Schrade, I honestly couldn't be more terrified/excited to go against this brute force of nature!
Xeno is a Hatchling Safi is Adolescent. I think in the Future if the dev interests in create more Jiva species there could be next Jiva a Full grown powered up version of Safi. It that happened the next Jiva would be considered a Black Dragon. Because Safi already had been classified as a Almost Black Dragon because it can drain life energy from the environment.
Please don't give up on this series. I've been researching the lore for awhile although different aspects of it. All references I've read on fatalis are absolutely on point in this video. I was expecting "the legend of fatalis" as and it's second coming in this video though. There is a legend that speaks about a second coming of fatalis, a fatalis with "black flame" that engulfs the world. A fatalis with flame and dragon element that can heal itself. Similar to that of the fatalis weapon theat restores itself in pokke
This fatalis legend is from frontier and is reference to the special G rank Fatalis a fatalis with six horns a glowing blue chest as is stated in the legend. But since it's from frontier it isnt canon
Just remember this lore makes me now realize. No matter how man my times we kill him, no matter how many years it takes, we are destined to perish for the mistakes we have done. For he is the darkness that will scorch us with his hellfire, and smite us with his crimson lightnin. He his our judgement, our death, our *Fate*.
Or you could, you know, calm him down and make peace. If he's intelligent enough to feel hatred and hold grudges, it's intelligent enough to negotiate with :)
Yet white fatalis is my favorite fight in 4u. Also hope this means you will say why hunters never go in parties greater than 4 in this next video. Besides limitations from when monster hunter was first made. I mean the in game lore as to why they only go as 4 and no more.
Zender Zagato I guess to keep it simple cuz I'm sure he will cover it in the next video. A group of hunters went to fight a rather large elder dragon I a group of 5. The group succeeded in slaying the elder dragon but one of the hunters was killed during the battle. Ever since that moment the hunters sorta had a superstitious belief that 5 was bad luck. So from then they sorta made a rule that capped it at 4. (Unless you are playing mhonline the Chinese game). The person that started that rule is actually still alive in the world of monster hunter. You would have to play either the original monster hunter or generations to see him though, he is currently the elder of the original hunters town. Again I'll let Byf get to it cuz I'm sure the next video, the formation of the hunters guild will talk about that moment.
6 years later. Shame this series never continued, I would love to learn about the different lands and regions and animals as best we know any lore would have been great.
I’d love to see what you can do with Alatreons Lore. I mean, the name of his quest was “Where gods fear to tread”. Would probably make for a Video that’s just as awesome and compelling as this one. But thats just me talking ^^
I can't get over how much you enjoy being in the air with IG, I know it's just background video to the actual lore content but I hope you have airborne deco equipped 😂
Love this series, was a avid D2 lore watcher not player but it's just not the same once Monster Hunter was released seeing as how I play MHW on top of watching the amazingly stunning lore videos you do. Your voice is so epic, I wish you would voice over documentaries
Man, I love the lore of this world. If we could get a game that is based in the ancient civilization I can only imagine what all the weapons would look like and all the new monsters there would be. What we see is their evolved form, we could see a pre-evolution Rathalos.
PooterPuka that'll be interesting to see what the ancient civ really looks like. I mean there's some interesting lore about the ancient civ's technological prowess. There's this particular armor set in older MH games called Atea iirc, made by "ancient shards" mined from the volcano, that straight up looks like a salvaged mech suit, with visible wires and cogs on the joints.
The most stereotypical dragon of the whole franchise. We need more of those. Kushala Daora is a wind dragon and Safi'jiiva spits lasers. In other words, they don't quite count.
@@disconneck1363 lmao bruh. wy·vern /ˈwīvərn/ Learn to pronounce noun HERALDRY a winged two-legged dragon with a barbed tail. maybe you should fuckin google it? wyverns, are, dragons

Im actually working on a monster hunter project for school and considering I didn’t play the older games this video really does help so thank you man for making this
Xeno'jiiva is a recently discovered species, so there aren't legends about him like all the Black Dragons, he still has to be classified (even though I still think that he's probably inferior in strength to Black Dragons, especially Frontier versions of Fatalis Trio and Dishufiroa), so he isn't a Black Dragon
Could you talk in a future video about monster titles like ''Black Dragons'', 'Unknown Species''(Like Mi Ru, Black Rathian and Gore Magala) and rare subspecies like Abyssal Lagiacrus and Silver Rathalos? Talking about why they are so different compared to others of their own species and name a few of them.
i’ve watched every destiny lore videos that byf has released in the past year and only now i’m finding out he did monster hunter as well? i’m 6 years too late lmao
I didn't know Byf did monster hunter lore. The fact you are a warlock main and using the insect glaive in this video made me extremely emotional. Both are my mains lol
Awwww yeah, the closest thing Monster Hunter has to an actual villain, the Fatalis! Oh, and I would suggest using the L2+R2 attack to mark a target for your bug to auto-attack after you fill up your three juice bars. You'd be surprised how much damage that little guy will add on while you're doing your regular attacks with IG!
Gary Oak They intend no evil though. The evil that follows Magala is just a result of its lifecycle and ecology. Fatalis wants to do harm to humans and wants revenge. All other monsters just want to eat, shit, sleep, that doesnt make them less dangerous.
@@SlightlyCivil yes but you would first make it flee twice. And killing it the third time. The damage done is carried over. Thus taking upto 1 hour (it would flee after 25 minutes if enough damage is done. Or whenever that point it reached after) 2x25min + the third run. So if you aren't good or using best gear 2 hours isn't unreal.

That’s why it’s called as such. But where is the New World located? North, east, west, or south of the Old World? We also have to wait for the upcoming Iceborne update and see where it takes us.
You know most of the ruins belong to the hyper-advanced Ancient Civilization right? The ancient civilization figured out how to make artificial life. I have doubts they didnt know about the new world.
@@sanguineregis5354 maybe the new world is quite literally new, like how the 5 scales created new lands or how zorah magdaros will create new life in the sea. Maybe the world itself is being reborn.

Regardless of who finishes the mount, everyone gets to smack it in the end.
do the lore of the frenzy virus or yama and the ancient tower.
Yup that feet of plesioth is really painful. And also rajang xD
if fatalis wears dead humans as its armor, then us using fatalis as armor means we are also using dead humans as armor. Maybe thats why hunters that wear it hear voices, its not the dragon we are using as armors but the bodies of our dead comrades. Creepy right, fuck this dragon for real.
Very good video, well put together and your presentation is on point with the vibe, really enjoyed it bro keep it up.
Just now finding out that Byf does MH and Destiny lore and my day is now made
I love how we were all disappointed that Safi wasn't a black dragon so capcom was like "aight heres two"
Xeno is a Hatchling Safi is Adolescent. I think in the Future if the dev interests in create more Jiva species there could be next Jiva a Full grown powered up version of Safi. It that happened the next Jiva would be considered a Black Dragon. Because Safi already had been classified as a Almost Black Dragon because it can drain life energy from the environment.
@@unknownbenefactor8029 Safi in its description is literally stated to be fully grown, where did you get this adolescent nonsense?
Who is here after Fatalis reveal for MHW:I ?
Me.
Me 😃
Wow! MHW is my first MH game but its lore is chilling good.
Moist It's just a shame theres not more of it, besides stuff surrounding the fatalis there isnt really that much in depth lore
My first MH game too. Just bought it. Very different world to what ive played in past (destiny, division).
I see you are new to monster hunter.....but im....7 years hunter...
Dan Pell there’s a lot of lore but not in the main games. You need to play spin offs like Frontier and read the mangas/art books
Jed Gian Paulo Rosario good for you !
Would really like to see a video on the guild as that's what I've been researching recently, that and the royal paleontology scriviners
@@hisholiness4537 It's living hatred. There's no way of negotiating. After what the Ancient Civilisation did that dude promised itself to destroy us.
@@whitejester Anything is possible at this point.
3:38 someone tried to flash the flash king/queen haha. As always, I LOVE your content! Keep it up bud
Yet white fatalis is my favorite fight in 4u.
Also hope this means you will say why hunters never go in parties greater than 4 in this next video. Besides limitations from when monster hunter was first made. I mean the in game lore as to why they only go as 4 and no more.
donuts82 Didn't he already say that in his other video? I know I heard it in someone's video recently
no. that other video was the creation myth, the reason for the 4 hunters wasn't a thing til the current hunters.
donuts82 could you explain why?
Again I'll let Byf get to it cuz I'm sure the next video, the formation of the hunters guild will talk about that moment.
donuts82 I seriously hope they one day decide to bring raids to a mainline game
6 years later. Shame this series never continued, I would love to learn about the different lands and regions and animals as best we know any lore would have been great.
I’d love to see what you can do with Alatreons Lore. I mean, the name of his quest was “Where gods fear to tread”. Would probably make for a Video that’s just as awesome and compelling as this one. But thats just me talking ^^
The Dark Soul i actually wants him do that too! and i'd like he talk about the rumoured elementally stable alatreon
We need more Alatreon lore especially since he is rumored to be in World eventually...
I can't get over how much you enjoy being in the air with IG, I know it's just background video to the actual lore content but I hope you have airborne deco equipped 😂
I’m very late to this series, but this is something I would like to see comeback.
Love this series, was a avid D2 lore watcher not player but it's just not the same once Monster Hunter was released seeing as how I play MHW on top of watching the amazingly stunning lore videos you do. Your voice is so epic, I wish you would voice over documentaries
Nice video Byf. Enjoying finding out what all I missed from the earlier monster hunter games.
But fatalis looks NOTHING like a wyvern, looks like a TRUE dragon.
The most stereotypical dragon of the whole franchise. We need more of those.
Kushala Daora is a wind dragon and Safi'jiiva spits lasers. In other words, they don't quite count.
wyverns are dragons
@@disconneck1363 lmao bruh. wy·vern
/ˈwīvərn/
Learn to pronounce

HERALDRY
a winged two-legged dragon with a barbed tail.
maybe you should fuckin google it? wyverns, are, dragons
@@disconneck1363 some definitions of wyvern just mean straight up dragon too
The term "wyrm" means "dragon", but it's usually reserved for the vermiform dragons called, well, wyrms.
Same thing with wyverns to an extent. All 3 terms mean "serpent".
Im actually working on a monster hunter project for school and considering I didn’t play the older games this video really does help so thank you man for making this
Now would be a good time to finish that part three my guy. One month till big daddy dragon returns.
Had no idea Byf did Monster hunter lore this is the best channel you RUclips
I had no idea u did MH World vids. MH World has a special place in my heart, no joke. Im thrilled that you covered this at its time.
Dalmadur dire maralis altreon and fatalis, is that all the black dragons?
The Black Dragons are Fatalis Trio, Dire Miralis, Alatreon, Dishufiroa and maybe Merphistophelin
DarkSeeker 9713 what adout adult zenojiva
Xeno'jiiva is a recently discovered species, so there aren't legends about him like all the Black Dragons, he still has to be classified (even though I still think that he's probably inferior in strength to Black Dragons, especially Frontier versions of Fatalis Trio and Dishufiroa), so he isn't a Black Dragon
DarkSeeker 9713 i dont think frontier monsters count either
Nope, they count, Capcom said that years ago, it's 100% canon
Not gonna lie to you chief, that was amazing. I never knew the game I loved so much had such chilling lore. Thank you.
Yo byf, still wait’n on that wyverian vid. Can we get an update on that?
I didn't know Byf did monster hunter lore. The fact you are a warlock main and using the insect glaive in this video made me extremely emotional. Both are my mains lol
So i guess Alatreon is another one of those black dragons?
Yep but the weakest
The unstable one...
I could listen to your voice all day long bud. Keep up the awesome work
Awwww yeah, the closest thing Monster Hunter has to an actual villain, the Fatalis!
Oh, and I would suggest using the L2+R2 attack to mark a target for your bug to auto-attack after you fill up your three juice bars. You'd be surprised how much damage that little guy will add on while you're doing your regular attacks with IG!
JackgarPrime I think magala is the closest we get to a true villain since he basically spread evil in a virus form.
Dude there are alot of villainous monsters especially if you read some of the quest descriptionz
Gary Oak They intend no evil though. The evil that follows Magala is just a result of its lifecycle and ecology.
Fatalis wants to do harm to humans and wants revenge.
All other monsters just want to eat, shit, sleep, that doesnt make them less dangerous.
This was beautifully epic! Great job as always Byf! Love your content!
Back in MHFU it took actual 2 real life hours to kill a fatalis
Hunts were 50 minutes though
@@SlightlyCivil He probably tried it more than once
@@SlightlyCivil yes but you would first make it flee twice. And killing it the third time. The damage done is carried over. Thus taking upto 1 hour (it would flee after 25 minutes if enough damage is done. Or whenever that point it reached after) 2x25min + the third run.
So if you aren't good or using best gear 2 hours isn't unreal.
@@CatTank I know
I was making a joke
@@SlightlyCivil it wasnt even a remotely funny joke though??
Seeing this 1yr later and never knew you posted MH stuff. This is awesome!
Rajang: finally a worthy opponent
Our battle will be legendary!!!
i think fatalis would just Y E E T rajang back to the old world
Well, Fatalis is part of Monster Hunter World as of October 1st, 2020. Thank you for the lore!
So what happened to the continuation of the lore homie? Where’d that project go?
I have been waiting 6 years
@JJAB91 well it ain't coming, because bro's lore was a mixture of half truths and a lot of fanfiction.
I ended up doing the digging myself.
Glad you made the move to this game. I've followed your lore for a while and i just started this and love it.
You remind me of Vaati
Joe Alexander what...?
He sounds exactly like him
INB4 Vaati secondary account lmao
Joe Alexander Not sure how DS2 being bad makes Vaati bad when all he does is explore the lore, but OK
Joe Alexander sotfs was horrible
Glad to see you in the MHW byf. Been listening to your destiny lores for a long time - big fan.
That
Was
Amazing
Your story telling has so much substance, I can't wait to hear you read more MH lore.
Guessing there was never a part 3?
Your voice is so nice to listen to. Its great for the narration!
when is the next lore, my friend?
Incredible vid Byf, i've read up on almost everything to do with MH and seeing you tell it like a BBC documentary is wonderfull. You certainly have the vocal skill to be discussing these things as it's quite calming to see things from the good old Monster Hunter's be retold. Keep up the great work.👍
Kind of funny after two years since this video was made fatalis is the last monster that gets put in monster hunter world/iceborne lol
These videos are perfection. For the newcomers, I hope one day they bring Fatalis so that you guys truly understand what its like to have one hell of a chill down your spine.
Something i find curious: In the old world, there are ruins everywhere and you can easily find them. In the new world, there are none.
Just some food for thought.
@@Dewkeeper This could very well be the case, and considering that there are two giant Dalamadur skeletons in the New World, we can also assume that other giant elder dragons have also died there, leading to the land forming even more than it already had when the dalamadurs died.
@@the_furry_inside_your_walls639 There's also a Lao Shan Lung skull in the Guiding Lands
Great piece of Monster Hunter lore with equally great presentation. GJ Byf!
Equal dragon weapons aren’t actually canon
Amazing lore video Byf, thanks again. Being new to the series with world its amazing to listen to the lore
..i didn't think we had more other than "these creatures are dangerous, go blow them to he'll and wear pieces of them as armor!"
Awesome video, and Im glad you're talking about monsters not yet shown in World. Can this extend to your profile videos? I think it would be of great interest for the newcomers who watch these vids to know how extensive the Monster roster has been up to this point, and it will keep them excited for more.
So... where is the next part of the lore then?
These lore videos are awesome! i never expected this series to have so much lore, considering not even characters have names.
Wait that music playing in the background is from elder dragon Ceadus from Tri right?
it is! :)
Berring Zen forret* I thought so. I Remember that fight like the back of my hand. That music calm yet chaotic matched the fight. Such a memorable Elder
Every time I hear the music I remember almost drowning trying to shoot it with ballistas with 5 mins left fun fight.
yeeeee boy
holly shit, Byf thank you! we need more ;)
I want to see Fatalis Trio and Alatreon, damn, Black Dragons in general, in MHW, and I want them to have a turf war with Nergigante and kick his spiky butt (I mean, he can't stand a chance against them)
DarkSeeker 9713 alatreon was on a leaked list for MHW so the chance is still there!
Feircy
Ikr, that's why I hope for a return of the other Black Dragons, because Fatalis Trio is even more iconic than Alatreon, and with the new engine and mechanics they can do an amazing revamp of Dire Miralis
DarkSeeker 9713 that and i still think dalamadur would be an amazing spectacle.
Sure
We have the skeleton, now we want the fight
Also, a final showdown with Zorah where you actually fight him and kill him and the Lao revamp that they mentioned to possibly "be done in MH5" would be nice
DarkSeeker 9713 I remember a trailer where you actually fight it to kill it and Nergigante is in the final zone, you have to repel it to avoid that destroys the stuff to do damage to it.
Amazing. Simply amazing. You have an impeccable storytelling ability Byf.
Where is part 3?
I wish you had the time to go over the guild coverup and documents that were burned regarding our efforts in mh tri.
Who is here after the Fatalis trailer?
*claps* That was amazing! I felt so immersed into the video, very good story telling skills!
Can you do Gogmazios next?
Apple Juice he really doesn't have much lore. He just showed up, stole the dragonator, and got murdered. We don't know his backstory or his motives
Properly Diced Onyon not stole but rather survived a almost fatal hit, breaked it and fled
synekendo yep
I swear I've been telling people this for _years_ but MonHun lore is _SO FUCKING COOL_
FATALIS IN WORLD BOIS
Fatalis has got to be THE dragon to beat in Monster Hunter World later down the line. So much to look forward to, and Byf makes the lore to come %1000 times more interesting.
*Plays the kinsect like a pro*
*Tries to flash Titzi*
*Face palm*
That is a terrifying legend. Please, release more videos!
Fatalis, Fatalis, why do you keep nuking me whenever I try to use the dragonator or shoot you in the face with a cannonball?
Simple. He wants to wear you.
