I have played this. It's nice, balanced dificulty. But, strangely, third boss, the plant, was harder than most of bosses of entire game, because of eating-insta-kill. Maybe the last one and purple pterodactyle was comparable/harder than this.
The gameplay of the NES version of Joe & Mac is very similar to Super Mario Bros., but Joe (the green haired Caveman) and Mac (the blue haired Caveman) are given unlimited weapons to throw. If Joe or Mac dies, one of them will lose their weapon. Every stage (excluding the Game Boy version) ends with a boss fight. This is a conversion of the Arcade version, and it is very well done, I think that even if it (obviously) is not near as visually appealing as the original, most of the stages, enemies, weapons, and even those big bosses the original version had are still there, and as the visual aspect of a game is not the most important thing, I would consider this conversion almost as good as the original. Joe & Mac’s graphics are very good, excellent I would say, the backgrounds, movements and animations are very detailed and amusing, and the characters and dinosaurs designs are really nice. In terms of graphics the only little problem is the lack of colours, could have been more varied in this aspect, only a little. The music is very nice too, a game like this one needs a catchy and lighthearted soundtrack, and that is what Joe & Mac delivers here, funny prehistoric music. I also like a lot when Joe and Mac shout “toa toa” every time they get hurt. Very nice soundtrack. The gameplay is excellent also, to beat those evil Neanderthal kidnappers and fiery dinosaurs we have the latest prehistoric technology, powerful weapons like spearheads, exes, stone wheels, or boomerangs. If we hold the attack button a few seconds we will release a much powerful attack, it is like Mega Man’s mega buster but with a prehistoric touch, and also with the difference that we if we old the button for too long we will get exhausted and loose energy, so we can’t be constantly holding the button like in Mega Man. There is also a two player option, but sadly we are not going to be able to play with a friend at the same time, the second player will have to wait until the first one losses a life. Also something a bit odd is that we are not going to find Mac anywhere, because the second player is going to control Joe as well. Don’t know why. Technically the game is very good, those who have played the original Arcade version will appreciate the quality of this conversion. I guess this game can be considered a classic, I remember that it was very popular in Arcades long time ago, and it also spawned some sequel that I haven’t had the pleasure to play but that looked very nice. A very nice game the world forgot about.
Best PCM Samples Ever, literally Mark Cooksey push the 2A03 to its limits in that Aspect. The Game itself its Pretty Good, but very very Short and Quite Difficult.
The carnivorous plant was impossible for me to clear. I came here now, only to see the way how it should have been cleared.

This game was so freaking hard, always stuck at the plant boss!
jajajajaja its true
Why do many gamers fail to see the beauty of this port!? Plus, I love those 8-bit bongo/conga drums in the music.
I has no idea Super NES even existed.
90's in Poland you see. Back when there was no internet.
One of my favorite Mario games.

Please make a Longplay for Kaiser Knuckle Arcade game on October.
I owned this game on the NES. Pretty fun.
Graphically for an NES game, this is probably the best. Too bad it's the same damn music through the whole game.
Interesting I thought this game only came out on the SNES pretty cool this was one of my favorite games as a kid.
A like the fact that this is over 16 minutes on a console that had super Mario bros as a launch title
The feelings bro, are awesome!!

Super Mario 16 ripped off this game.
Amiga version is better.
What a terrible game. Graphics are not that great. Music is redundant. Levels are way too short. And they wanted money for this garbage? Lol
fuck you this is a good game
