Probably my favorite boss so far. Banger music, he looks and sounds goofy, and he's somewhat difficult in a way that doesn't make use of scummy tactics, double-takes or anything. He fights fairly and with honor. He's also just a pretty based person. I've only now gotten past him in the royal waterways, but I gotta say, Dung Defender and Quirrel are probably my favorite characters.

I can't think of a more joyful encounter in a video game than sparring with the Dung Defender. After going through all these grim areas and meeting these maddened bosses, you come across this old knight who's just thrilled to have a worthy adversary! Also he's a big dung beetle who throws poop at you, S-class stuff
Yeah, I remember laughing through that entire encounter. Did beat him on the first try and I almost regretted it.
The amount of positivity this boss gives me is incredible

Dung Defender actually reminds me of an overpowered PE teacher, that is so fit he could swim in parquetry floor and would throw medicine balls at you.
I love how he sounds like he's egging you on as you fight him. He's just having fun.
Ogrim is by far one of my most favorite characters in the whole Hollow Knight series.

Dung Defender is a great example of one of my favorite tropes: the jubilant warrior. Fighting is not what he fears, it is where he feels fulfilled and alive. It's the moments between which he dreads, tortured by loneliness and the memories of comrades lost.
This is in my jogging playlist. It gets me charged up. I feel like a superhero when I'm running.

After a ferocious and spirited fight, you come to realize the answer was "both"
@@ismaelsantos5378 As you exit the arena you find a switch next to a pipe. You flip it and acid flies through the system! you jump down and find a Cracked floor. With your leftover soul you dive straight down. *BOOM!* At the bottom you find an idol to the king, and statues to the knights.
You climb your way out of the room and BAM! out of the ground emerges the defender. He apologizes for his behavior and you go on your way.

I love this guy, he just hurls shit at you and laughs while he does it. He’s not one of those evil bosses he just enjoys his time fighting you.
Even better the fact that you can talk to him and find him below the arena sleeping later in the game. Truly one of my favorite hollow knight characters.
And his theme is quite heroic to be accompanied by the sound of shit splatters
the fact that the most likeable character in the entire royal waterways is a dung beetle says a lot about that area of the game.

I was laughing the whole fight against him, it was pure joy, i wasn't stressed or nervous like with all the previous bosses, we were both just having fun and enjoying the fight and that's it! Definitely one of my fav characters in the game 🙏🏼❤

It’s challenging but easy, his attacks are easy to memorize but are unique. I never raged whenever he beat me, I just felt like he bested me in an honorable battle every time. Not to mention this ost elevates this fight to another level

The Dung Defender isnt actually a bad guy, because while he is fighting you he is laughing. He is just trying to protect his home
A large bug stands proud and strong yet while he does challenge you to combat he does so with a purpose what that is can only be revealed through victory.
