My Favourite Simple Fruit Cake Recipe

    This is my favourite go to recipe for delicious soft cake I've used the same recipe for marble cake, vanilla cake.
    I'm using the all new baking margarine by BlueBand but if its not available where you are you can use butter or margarine of your choice.
    INGREDIENTS:
    300g Margarine
    280g Sugar
    5 eggs
    380g Self Raising Flour
    Vanilla essence
    Dried Fruits of your choice

      Yes please we have cups and glasses. Chef please prepare one with the usual measurements in a kitchen a cup, spoon etc that would help.

    wow!!!what a nice lesson that i have learnt from this video,,avoid opening the oven door while baking to avoid cake from sinking at the middle...thanx alot chef,,, this has been my worry always while am baking..now i know why my cake do sink at the middle..i love your class how i wish you have an institution i register with you...

      You could use empty tins of blueband,jam, cooking fat, which has different measurements, then you use that as your makeshift ingredient measuring cups.

    I tried this n it came out perfectly,my problem is after applying whipping cream my cake did not dry...I don't know where I went wrong or is it a must to put it in a fridge

      If making fruit cake it should be thick. If you have to add milk it should be about 30ml or it will give different results

    I try your recipes and they are 👌only problem is it's never perfectly even like the dough is always more on one side or at the centre. How do I make it flat like yours

      Yes
      Self rising flour is just flour with baking powder/ soda already put in

      Yes you can use the all purpose flour and use your normal measurements of baking powder and bicarbonate.

      If using self raising flour then you skip baking powder. We have some recipes that have both baking powder and self raising so also when baking it’s about following the specific recipe you are using

      Just add the weight of all the ingredients to get the total.
