Good ole school music, came up on that music,I’m feeling it as well grandson.
Definitely fire music nana! 🔥
@Donatella Loncar I saw him with Kiki Dee in Toronto, same era, fabulous show!
love u grandma
Yup that’s why 50yrs later we are still listening. I wanna challenge any young artist to put out music this great and no auto tunes allowed and you have to play your own instruments! 😎 Good luck🥴 I still have this album and I saw Elton 2X’s 80’s and early 2000 with my daughter’s 😎
Today can NEVER compare!
This was Elton's first song to make the Black singles chart.
This achievement made him ecstatic because he is a huge fan of American black music.
I remember. 8th grade and the high schoolers clued us in.
lol..lol ALL American music is Black American
@@mycolortv1 except for like polka lol but yeah
This was my dad's favorite song. We listened to it a lot when I was a kid. RIP dad. Great reaction bro.
Elton gives a masterclass in showmanship and plays that piano like no other. I have seen him live several times and highly recommend it!
Elton performed this on Soul Train back in 1974 (along with Philadelphia Freedom - another great track) and it's worth it just to see the clothes!! Not just Elton's pimp outfits but the dancers, too! Such a classic! It's funny that alot of people think of Bennie as kind of dumb/silly, etc because anytime I've seen him live or even on TV, it's THIS song that consistently gets the crowd going like no other!
This song is the very reason Elton was the first white artist to be invited to do soul train. Elton wanted so much to earn the respect of black American audiences, cuz he got so much of what he did from black American music. The soul bands he toured with are who got him to change his name, cuz no one is gonna wanna pay to see Reginald Dwight!!! LOL Even to this day the appreciation he gives back to hip hop and r&b artists (especially through the use of this song) is wonderful.
@@JoanRudith While he was one of the first white artists to perform on the show, the first one was actually Canadian singer Gino Vannelli.
@@bluebear1985 really? Cuz all accounts say it was him. The documentary series soul train said that and they depicted it on American Soul, a show about soul train. Every online source I found reiterate that it was Elton John.
@@bluebear1985 one source says it was someone named Dennis Coffey. It’s strange they would claim it was Elton on their official documentary and the limited series American Soul.
@@JoanRudith In the documentary "Soul Train: The Hippest Trip in America", Gino Vannelli himself was actually interviewed about it. They did fail to take into account that there were two non-black performers on before him, Dennis Coffey and Jose Feliciano. Also for the documentary, there were interviews with David Bowie and a few members of The Average White Band.
My personal favorite Elton John songs are: “Someone Saved My Life Tonight “,
“Good Bye Yellowbrick Road”, “Empty Garden (Hey Hey Johnny)” *the latter, written as a tribute to dear friend, and Elton’s idol, John Lennon after Lennon’s murder.
Newer one: “Two-Fingers of Whiskey “ (with Jack White)
Empty Garden is an extraordinary song. I’ve seen Elton many times and for a long time he rarely played it live because it was too hard for him. I’ve only see him play it once.
“Someone Saved My Life Tonight “ and "Tower of Babel" are my favorites.
He's iconic, period!!! No one else like Elton John
Really fun to watch the joy on your face reacting to so much of the music that I grew up with. You get it!
Honky Cat is probably the closest to this funky kind of vibe. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, from the same album as Bennie, has the same sort of 'this is different' vibe. Saturday Nights Alright for Fighting got the most play on Classic Rock stations.
From Wikipedia:
Despite sounding as though recorded live, the song was actually recorded in studio, with live sound effects added in later. Producer Gus Dudgeon explained:[5]
For some weird reason, Elton happened to have hit the opening piano chord of the song exactly one bar before the song actually started. So I was doing the mix and this chord kept coming on which you normally wouldn't expect to hear. I turned to engineer [David Hentschel] and I said, ‘What does that remind you of? … It's the sort of thing that people do on stage just before they're going to start a song.’ Just to kind of get everybody, ‘Okay, here we go, ready?’ For some reason that chord being there made me think, ‘Maybe we should fake-live this.’
He mixed in sounds from a 1972 performance of John in Royal Festival Hall and a 1970 Jimi Hendrix concert at the Isle of Wight.[6] He also included a series of whistles from a live concert in Vancouver, and added hand claps and various shouts.[7]
"Bennie and the Jets" is on Elton's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album, the very first album I owned. It was a double album on cassette. It was all I wanted for my 13th birthday. My uncle, who gave it to me, said Elton John was a "flash in the pan" and would "only last five years; then no one would know who he was anymore." I doubted then that he was right. After hearing the album, I KNEW Elton John would be a legend. Sometimes kids know more than grownups.
Definitely one of the best albums if all time. 💯
Elton didn’t want this released as a single they added the crowd noise. It became a major R&B hit.
i have followed Elton's Music since 1970 and i love it as much now as when i first started listening to it. you would really love FUNERAL FOR A FREIND AND LOVE LIES BLEEDING. 😊👍
I can't really make out alot of what Elton is saying in this song but his voice and the piano sounds so damn good.
This song, Bennie And The Jets, was the only #1 hit Elton had on the Soul Chart. It happened in 1974 and there is even a performance of the song on the tv show Soul Train! From the 1973 album called Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. This song, incidentally, was not recorded live but was a studio cut with the audience sounds skillfully added later! It was also a #1 hit on the Singles Chart that same year.
One of many hits by Elton John. It would be very difficult to pick 3 of my favorite songs but here it goes, SOMEONE SAVED MY LIFE TONIGHT, TINY DANCER and PHILADELPHIA FREEDOM. Elton's first big single in the US and the UK was YOUR SONG. His collaboration with lyricist Bernie Taupin is considered the most successful in history.
Elton has some of the best music! Philadelphia Freedom is one of the best songs. ❤
The entire Goodbye Yellow Brick Road double album is a must listen! My uncle bought it for me at 11 and I still love every song on it. 😁❤️
Speaking of piano..you would LOVE Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind". Hope you do it but if you do, it's the Old Gray Whistle version you've got to see ( that's the name of a British TV show).
It's a stupendous performance.
💙☮💙
If you haven't heard it yet, check out Elton's song(s), "Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding".
I’ve seen Elton twice. Once in 2002 and again with Billy Joel in like 2006 or something. (So many shows too many memories!)
He’s still a fantastic performer. I do wish I could get in a time machine and see him live with all his constant costume changes.
The tour he did with Billy Joel was awesome! They were, and still are, my two faves. I swear I just about died when I heard they were touring together! 😜😁
Elton John respected Motown & 60s soul bro's: When Elton heard that this song was bumped by bro's in Detroit listening to the local R&B radio station, John felt he'd really made it.
This is my favorite by him. What a good tune.🔥🔥🔥
That's a solid groove
Facts! 🙏💯
The best quasi live version I have ever see was on Soul Train.. ruclips.net/video/8VH2mv1BeOs/видео.html He didn't have the band with him so the background music was piped in, but he was actually playing the piano and singing. This was a huge hit on the Soul charts. LOL. Elton crossed over pretty good. Don't watch any Concert post early 90s, he lost his voice and it got deeper. Watch Elton on BBC 1972, or anywhere early 70s and he is just as good live.
There’s that smile again! Picked a great one. No othe like Elton John.
One of my all time faves! Thank you for reacting. 😄
Thank you!
Elton was actually known for breaking piano strings from hitting the keys so hard.
Elton is in concert tomorrow night in Louisville Kentucky and guess who is going ?!?!?! I’m so excited!!!
I saw him in concert a few years ago . He was amazing !! So glad i saw him .
This has to be one of my favorite reactions of yours. Seeing you playing piano 🎹 with along with Elton is epic. Elton would love this!!
I can name this tune in one note yep big Elton John fan y'all Keep On Keepin On peace out!
Christy needs a pair of electric blue boots when she returns. ✨👢💙
I just saw him live last week and he opened with this song. And yes, you are correct, the whole arena erupted! ❤️ Not sure where you live but he is on tour now and it is his final farewell tour. If you have the ability to go, you should!
You bring good energy to the world. I appreciate your reactions.
Takes me back to high school (1973-1976).
I knew you would like this one, lol! Elton plays the hell out of that piano. He was on Oprah once and played this song. It sounded like a whole band but it was just him on the piano. He's so incredibly talented.
Elton in concert is soooo amazing! Been blessed to see him live 3 times!!
Best concert ever!!!
memories from my childhood come rushing in! love it!
Same 😊
It sounds familiar because it's been sampled many times by hip hop and r&b artists. And Elton took some part in many of those. My two favorites are "Solid Wall of Sound" by Triba Called Quest, which Elton sings on. And "Deep inside" by Mary J, and Elton is in the video. You should react to those.
You are the only other fan besides myself that touched base on that fact. That's so cool! Makes me feel good when I come across another fan that really know their music. Big up!
Elton is on a stadium tour right now opening with this song 🤩
Thanks reckless! Good audio and ya let the song play! ELTON IS A STELLAR PERFOMER!!!!👍🏼👍🏼💯😎😎😎
The first hit from his Yellow Brick Road album. Released in '73 I think. I was a senior. My friend and I went to see him in Oct of '74. He was incredible. One of my top three concerts.
You REALLY need to listen to the whole album, and the ones before it. You'll love them.
It's fun to watch young people react to Elton. I never missed a concert of his in the 70's. Those were the days when he did handstands on his piano! His early works are by far his best.
Elton is on tour this year--you should GO!! WHAT a smile you had this whole time! Ok, you guys are killing it, this is definitely one of his absolute best songs; I remember being about 6 or 7 when this came out, and has been in my heart ever since. Please react to his song "Someone Saved My Life Tonight'; it goes through the soul!
I love seeing young people discovering REAL music for the first time. Yeah, a bunch of us "old" folks were once young and seeing this live. It really was a unique time to be alive. Thank you!
'Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding in My Hand'!!!
Better hurry if you wanna see Elton!! He's on his last tour this year....
YES. I remember this song when i was young my bus driver use to play this song going on school trips. He only played blue eyed soul. Great reaction
Appreciate ya!
Love your reaction to this hit song. Note that it's actually a studio recording using several audience sound effects to make it sound like a live performance. Saw your Tiny Dancer video and there's another Elton BIG hit song that is a must-do and it's a longer one... "Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding". Definitely work that one into your schedule! ✌😎
Absolutely awesome live, this is one of best, too many to choose from. I liked Philadelphia Freedom an Saturdays alright for fighting probably because I saw him in Philly on a Saturday night in 1986 or 87. Nothing beats a live concert, well at least before auto tune. Glad you enjoyed this song. Nice reaction 👍
I adore this reaction. You get it. You feel it. Bravo.
I love this song and never tire of it. I usually sing every single note & loud! I wish we had more artists like this today. Most music today is boring to me, my favourite is the 70s! Thx for this one. ❤
I can`t wait to go and see him live Tuesday!! It`s going to be Awesome! So many great Elton songs!! Keep On Rockin'
Love Benny and The Jets, fully agreed! Have you heard “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” yet? Another great banger…
Frank Ocean song "Super Rich Kids" intro sounds a little similar. This Elton song has so much damned swagger. Hit voice and hands through the keys are just groovin.
I can remember babysitting and dancing with my charge to “Crocodile Rock” by Elton John. Seems like he has been in my life forever.
He’s a hitmaker
Elton John this is 1973 .I was thirteen in Jr High Oh Memories .LOL I have seen Elton John twice in concert. We all partied with Sir Elton that night .
I remember the summer this came out. We could be heard singing , BBB Bennie and the Jetsssss all summer long! ❤✌
This is my favorite Elton song! 🥰 Great reaction.
Levon By elton
Yes!!!! Love that song!!
@@ceceliacross5953 Listen to the King must die. That'll really blow you away.
He's definitely one of my favorite artists of all time!!😍😍
This is my favorite Elton song
Can do no wrong. Swagger, stylish and TALENTED!!!!
Elton performed this song on SOUL TRAIN in 1974. It is a must see!! Try to react to Philadelphia Freedom and you’ll put that song up there with this one. He might be the most successful song writer in music history
This right here is why I love ur channel bro. Ur reaction puts a serious smile on my face!
I recommend THE ONE. by Reggie Dwight aka Elton John. The piano on that jam is fire for sure. It is awesome.
Many years ago, I saw Elton John and Billy Joel at the Clemson University football stadium. It was called the Rocket Man and the Piano Man Tour. It was awesome! If you have a chance to see either of them I highly recommend it.
Hey this may be your best reaction so Far! You are correct one of the best Piano songs ever!
I was ten and my little brother was eight when this dropped. We fucking LOVED this song!!!!!!!!
Mary J. Blige used it for her song, "Deep Inside". Elton John played his own piano part for her on it. Fun fact: My brother and his friends used to light up and get smoked out listening to this joint right here. Lol!
One of my favorite songs from him
Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding. Banger
Well this is cool. I just got tickets to see Elton John Yellow brick road farewell tour Tacoma October 16. If you ever want to see Elton John in your life, make sure you grab tickets for your area this year. I can tell you like Elton John.
Elton is a true original!
Got only 2 words....Hell Yeah!!
Music that makes you smile! 👍👍👍
Happy Easter to you and your better half. Keep up the great content
gotta love that piano!!!!!!!!!
Great reaction.
It took me forever to figure out what he was saying, back when we didn't have the Internet to look of the lyrics.
elton =monster , he have soul , 50 years in the top
I was 20 the first time I heard & saw Elton. He could sure wear some fancy. Costumes back in the day. 🎹🎹🎶🎶🎶🔥
What many don't realize is the producer did an excellent job "dubbing in the live audience" making you believe this is a raw live performance but it's not. Bennie and the Jets is my all time fav from Elton.
I have always known this song. I dont know when i first heard it, but as a little kid in the '70's i knew it. It's still amazing. Good music is just good music, genre doesn't matter so much. You should listen to Madman Across the Water from Elton John.
Elton John was my first concert in 1976.
Well you need to see him soon cuz he won't tour again after this yr. 😲
One thing to remember about EJ early years is he wrote the music. Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics.
Elton said Bernie would hand him papers and papers of lyrics and he'd lock himself away with his piano...some of the best music I've ever heard. The entire Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album is amazing, That was my 1st EJ concert, seen him 4x!! 70s, 80s, w/Billy Joel and most recently 23Mar!!!!! He said his farewell. 😭
You ck out "Madman Across the Water" yet??? Do this on your own if not reacting to it, and simply enjoy. 😁👍🏽
Loved watching you enjoy one of the best songs ever! ❤️❤️
Elton John is everything! xx
He's finishing up his farewell concert tour this year. Check the schedule. I'm seeing him 4-27 in Orlando. Can't wait
hey Reck the way your feeling is how we felt when that album hit back in the day !!! Keep Jammin bro if i told you once i'll tell you again BEST BINGE REACTION CHANNEL OUT HERE BAR NONE !
Love your reaction to this classic
Watch this live on here. He improvises his piano solo and it crazy. A few vids he gets under the piano and plays it upside down.
Grew up in bars & can tell you I miss sneaking into a hotel bar & listening to men play this in the hotel. Never as good but still awesome to watch them try.👊🙃💪😉🥰
Love how much you enjoyed this 😊❤❤
He opens his current farewell tour with this song.
Check out Philadelphia Freedom!! 🔥
Great reaction to a great song!!
I believe Mary J. Blige used the track.
Love your reaction
