    You and Blizzard Games were my school for moding.

    If I open the .mzp file (version 1.7) in 2017 3ds max this happens:
    Runtime error: fileIn: can't open file - "OverwatchImportTools_importmodel_dialog.ms"

      same problem here with max 2014. It seems that the main script calls for .ms files while it should call for .mse files (encrypted). I unzipped the .mzp and edited all the files I could to change the FileIn extensions to .mse but there is still an error for "OverwatchImportTools_importmodel.ms" which I guess is called from "OverwatchImportTools_importanimation_dialog.mse" and since this last file is encrypted I have no way of editing it..... @Taylor Mouse is there any chance you could look into this? Thanks a ton!

    Uh oh, link to your 3DS Max script is broken? Supported for Max 2018? Looking to review some of the animations for various characters.

    UPDATE: The current DataTool does NOT export the animations correctly, this issue has been addressed to the owner of the DataTool and there will be a fix for it soon. The ONLY way to get the correct animations exported (raw format) is via the CASC VIEWER. This allows the export of any animation file (.006 ). Only problem is to get the correct one. So how I do this is: Export all the .006 animation files via thte Casc Viewer, then use the datatool to export a hero, than map the 006 files and overwrite them with the files exported by the datatool. ... Update soon I hope, cuz this is a PAIN!

      Ty for the info man i was running in some trouble with mccrees shooting animation that was completly messed up. Im gonna try that and see if it works.

    Quick note, not all of the models are supported, since the "cloth" in models is using a different bone hierarchy. Bones show up at pos [0, 0, 0], I'm aware of this issue and currently working on getting this fixed asap.

      Ho that's what you mean :)
      I tend do to other games, but they are usually games that have "stylized" artwork, not real life games, like Dark Souls and The Elders Scrolls, more like Darksiders, Paladins, Heroes of Newerth, Orc Must Die... etc

    Hi, Taylor! I'm going through all the map objects, screenshotting and cataloguing them with their folder names so that I can put it online to help people trying to find specific objects. A batch import function would be great if it was an easy implement. Thanks!

    Version 1.20 + has different animation configuration files, so I'm waiting until they released Birgitte to the live environment to fix this, cuz they probably changed there something to, again.

    Works with OW2? Would be cool to have a GDrive folder with every animations inside in FBX format btw, 3DS Max is not cheap...

    Fixed the issue with cloth, new download link in the description, also, copy past the mzp file in the Max startup folder to prevent further inconsistent references.

    is it possible to import NPC models? like training bots.. cause with datatool there's no npc-list function and overtool of course doesn't work

    Does Overtool still work? I'm struggling to get it to even list properly. The "Common Usage" section is not detailed enough, and I can't find a video tutorial on how to actually extract the skins using it.

      No it doesn't, you need to use the DataTool.exe and there has been a release to extract the models from BlizzardWorld already :D

    I can't seem to open the newest version of Datatool.exe. I double click the datatool and the command prompt opens for a brief moment and closes immediately. Why is that? I already tried runnin in admin mode but still no luck. What i'm I doing wrong?

    I got the models I wanted extracted, but Instead of .00C files, I have folders with .owmat, .owmdl, and .smd files inside as well as an Animations and Textures folder.

    Do I need to somehow condense the .00C folder into a file for your 3DS Max tool to work with it?

    @TaylorMouse. So I got the extraction part done, but i'm trying to import the zenyatta Cultist skin into 3ds max but the datatool.exe didnt exported the 00C model file. Why is that?

      Taylor Mouse yes I did and it worked. I imported some hero characters into 3ds max with your overwatch1.4 importer but some of the animations looked weird. For example some parts of the model don't move with the animation. Kinda hard to explain, as am not quite sure what it is. Will there ever be an update to that script? Regards and great job on this.

      yeah, the issue is that the animations are all blended in game, this means they need lots of tweaking in max, if only you can multi-play animations, but max does not support that

    Hi Taylor, i have problem with import animation, when i try load animation a get errors - 1) Unable to convert: undefined to type: Integer 2) No "*" for undefined in 3ds max 2011 and 2012. How to fix it?

      Any animation. When I try to load an animation in a blender - the animation loads, but the model breaks and warps. It's strange why then do not load in 3DsMax?

      no, only when stuff gets out of PTR, becasue the encryption keys are only known after stuff gets out of PTR, sry

    I'm trying to write the commands for the Overtools, but the folders it's referencing don't exist. I don't have a maps folder in my Overwatch folder, just a bunch of data and idx files. Is there a way to fix this?

      the data and the idx files are the game files, the MAP folder and so on is only created after the data is extracted using the Overtool. You only need a root folder to extract your data to

      I guess what I'm having trouble is with the initial extraction? I'm not quite sure what to type in the Command prompt to get the extraction started. When I follow the directions listed, the command window breaks.

      You need to update the tools for every release of Overwatch
      to get a good result you should copy the game content to another place and wait until the tools are ready so you can use them on that backup

      Well crap in a basket.. lol! That's going to be a pain, but worth it in the end. Has anyone extracted all the animations/rigs for the characters and uploaded them online? I'm trying to bring them into Unreal 4 and need all that data... any info would be appreciated.

    I want to make .00C 'file' for models , but I can have only .00C 'folders' . How Can I get .00C files ?

      ? I don't understand what you want, there is no way in creating a workable .00C file, and there is not purpose in doing so.
      To get the files, extract it using OverTool.Exe

    New release can be downloaded v1.3, support for more animation types, 160, 164, 166, 168 and 288. Also support added for multi uvw maps.

      Dude, you need to change {overwatch dir} with your location of your overwatch game, :D
      like this (ex. )
      Datatool.exe "C:\Games\Overwatch" extract-unlocks "D:\Overwatch Extracted" "Zenyatta|skin=Cultist"

      Oh, the Overtool is made by the community, so it has no licensing (or not that I'm aware of) the game, that is for you to buy of course, and 3D Studio Max , that is a student license, since I'm a student . So as long as you don't start to sell the models or claim the tools and scripts are yours, it is fine. I do this for fun and to study game models.

      no, not yet, I'm working on that. The exported maps are owmdl format, which is a custom format done by the guy who wrote the exporter. I'm syncing with him to make an import script for that.

    DO NOT use overtool.exe but use dataTool.exe
    usage:
    DataTool {overwatch dir} extract-unlocks {output dir} "*"
    this will extract all the heroes
    to extract just one use:
    DataTool {overwatch dir} extract-unlocks {output dir} "Zenyatta|skin=Cultist"
    this extracts the new Zenyatta skin

      Is datatool supposed to be outputting 00c/007 files? All I get from it are owmdl/owmat/smd.

      originally, it is suppose to do that, but in the new version you can add --raw to output only the raw file ( 00c,006, etc)

      It looks like the overtool is not the one to use anymore, sorry for the late reply, you should try to use the datatool.exe

      I use it constantly, but I update it constantly too, so make sure that you redownload the tool after every overwatch release.
      here is an example on how I use it:
      DataTool.exe "C:\Games\overwatch" extract-maps "F:\Blizzard\Overwatch\Extracted\v1.19" "Junkenstein's Revenge"
      This will extract all objects ( and converts them to owmdl and tif ) for Junkenstein's revenge

    WHAT THE ACTUAL F***. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT EVERYBODY IS GOING ON ABOUT WITH OVERWATCHES FILES BEING LOCATED IN C:\OVERWATCH. THEY ARE NOT. THEY ARE LOCATED IN C:\PROGRAM FILES (x86)\Overwatch BUT THAT ALWAYS GIVES ME A ERROR. AND C:\OVERWATCH DOSNT EVEN APPEAR. MUCH LESS WORK WHEN I TRY TO USE IT IN OVERTOOL. WHY THE HELL IS THIS NOT WORKING?
    RUNNING WINDOWS 10.

      Don't use CAPS, its rude, second, in the Battle.net app, from where you start Overwatch you can locate the actual files from the game. The location is probably more something like C:\Blizzard\Overwatch

      Overwatch are located where you wanted them to be installed, and are accessable through the Battle.net app in options

      Euh, sure, but the script is not for maya, so you need to import it first to max, than export to FBX and import it in Maya

      @@johnspoop272 Well, you probably going to have to apply them manually, but the uv texture coordinates should be in place so it must work
