Is the tool outdated for you and do you really need the models? You can try downloading an older version of Overwatch on Steam:
- Find steamdb.info/a.... Remember the Game ID 2357570 in there
- Click on the Depot ID with the biggest file size. This is most likely just 2357571
- Go to manifests
- Remember the ManifestID from a date where DataTool was still working
- Enter in browser: steam://nav/console. It might take a while to react before the Steam console to pops up.
- Enter in the console: download_depot [GAME_ID] [DEPOT_ID] [MANIFEST_ID], an example would be: download_depot 2357570 2357571 1392183257182494007
Now the older version will download. This will take a pretty long time because it's essentially downloading the entire game all over again. Now go back to the DataTool folder we made, enter cmd like we did in the video and there you can type any command you would with regular Overwatch, just change the import directory to your Steam depot folder. That most likely looks like this depending on where you have Steam installed:
DataTool.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_2357570\depot_2357571" extract-unlocks "E:\3D Objects\OW2 Models" Kiriko
Make sure to change everything to your relevant directories, and then that's it! :)

Depending on when you install this the Tool might be outdated. Check the description for a fix!
The timing of the video is pretty damn perfect for me, perfect explanation, everything - THANK YOU!
I knew from the thumbnail that this was gonna be the right video
I checked your other tutorials like 2 days ago and you literally did a video about the Overwatch model’s that I was looking for, I’ll try later, thank you Temtor🫶🏻
Also I love your intro too, like the other comments😂
Ty for the tutorial I really need it!
(Awesome intro btw ^^!)
Damm the intro 😍
Very helpful and easy to follow, thank you for making this video
Damn you antivirus! Thanks for the tutorial.
The fastest subscribe i ever done.. will study ur videos and learn how to use blender and blender with overwatch thank you
I have a question for you. Could you import skins for Symmetra for me?
(I really want the model 3d Symmetra Devi/Goddes)
I get an error saying "Build version 127168 is not supported"
They need to update the tool to current version of overwatch, which it is now

Hey, nice vid, worked well!
How to import animation such as highlight intros?
Slay😎
Indeed 🫡
Can you make a video editing the bones in custom positions?
Sure!
what about overwatch maps to unreal engine? :)
unfortunately the tool isn't up to date as of today; i was wondering if you know where i can find, or if you have, hanzo and reaper's ow 1 models? i kinda need them asap, thanks!
Yeahh it usually takes a while after an update for them to fix the tool, I forgot to mention that that's also why it's a good idea to extract every model all at once. In the meantime, I imported them for you: drive.google.com/file/d/1oJcY8ktyow3-TEkyaVJgeQ0gmOaaYkT0/view?usp=sharing
How to export animations from overwatch 2?
what would the command be for torbs surf and splash turret? i need the model for a 3d print and cant find it anywhere online
That turret comes with Torborjn if you use the regular skin import command. While importing, select Hero: Torbjorn > Skin: Overwatch 2 (Overwatch) > Entity: Deploy Turret-5398
The command would look like this just to be clear:
DataTool.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Overwatch" extract-unlocks "C:\3D Objects\OW2 Models" Kiriko
Just change out the folders :)
Meh, model's don't have UV, so can't simply extract and save them as fbx with textures
Oh that’s weird… they should have UVs by default. These do have multiple UV maps though, have you tried exporting the model with a specific UV map in the list?
@@temtor tried to export maps…
for me its saying that 'DataTool.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
same, any solution?
I can't run the app, it says it can't run on my computer. I'm using Windows 11.
You’re gonna have to be a little more specific, what does it say exactly?
Can you help me with the export command just for models like the weapons??
The discord server I included in the description has many people more educated on the more intricate details of this program, but the export commands for most weapons are just the same as the ones you use to export a skin, meaning they come included when importing the skin you need the weapons of.
mine says access denied
Can i choose different skins? Or only the main one?
Yes! An example command for that would be:
DataTool.exe "C:\Program Files (x86)\Overwatch" extract-unlocks "C:\3D Objects\OW2 Models" "Tracer|skin=Cavalry"
You'll have to switch out the directories to what fits your Overwatch folder and export folder of course. After that you can do the same thing you'd do importing the main skin, just select the skin you imported at the "Skin"section after you selected your character.
I have a small question, when the model is exported to Blender it exports fine but the textures do not load and I already tried to set Color: Texture, I don't know how to fix that
