One thing that's not clear is how much variation there is between tests. Perhaps one day in your copious free time you could do four tests AABB. Comparing the A test with the A test and the B test with the B test will give you an idea of the variance. Without something like this it's hard to judge the significance of your results.
I agree there could be a much larger sample size to validate the results. Unfortunately I don’t have the free time/funding for that type of project. It would be cool though!
Had my eye on these for a while now. Ordered my model y in January and found out they sold out on Amazon yesterday. Trying to find them everywhere now.

Btw, vendors are making about 400% mark-up on these items. Exact same products are selling for $50/4 sets at TEMU with 2-3wks wait on delivery.
Again the covers are not symmetrical 2x2, they are all the same, that means one of the car sides has bad aerodynamic wheel covers, as the thinner blades need to cut the air when the car is moving forward. Would be great to find the same with 2x2 version instead. They seem great and look better than stock on a black or grey MY.

@@NessunaOffesa Well i had a look at Uberturbine or even aero stock caps, and they are all the same too. Tesla didnt do it symmetrically.
I had the same idea to write it down, cant understand how stupid is this that they not sell symmetrical wheel covers even Tesla own Gemini , thats the all failing point. Otherwise thanks for the detailed video.
The Blade style from the same manufacturer are symmetrical. I'm torn, since I like the Blade style better and the fact they are symmetrical, but they claim it's not as efficient as these Gemini style.
Hmmm...3 degrees hotter! Would've been interesting to note your tire pressures before and after each trip. Wonder if your tires were showing 2 extra lbs if that would account for the improvement since rolling efficiency would've been greater!?!
Thanks for doing this! I sorta liked the styling on blade covers but these also look good but don’t have the efficiency problem which will sway me to get these instead
Thanks! I’ve tested 3 different 3rd party covers and these are by far the most efficient. I’ve used them the most for this reason even though they’re less attractive

I like these a lot. Black Geminis. I’m going yo try to stay as close to OEM as possible.
The hotter the air is, the less dense it is. So the drag will be smaller when hotter.
Some wheel covers don't extend as far into the wheel as others. Here, you see the silver wheel behind the cover a little more than I'd like. They just needed to extend another quarter inch.
did your wheel covers come with the foam strips to protect the wheel at the periphery? I didn't see foams on your covers in the video. Has there been any damage to the wheees after using these covers for a while?
I'm interested in this as well. I added foam to the rim but they stick out a wee bit now. Wonder if it's worth it.
I think the black covers might of done better because of the fact that it was tested on a hotter day. Tires inflate when your driving fast and in this case 70mph is fast. The increase thermal expansion of the tires could get you the small increase in efficiency we see here.
There’s definitely a chance that this contributed. I’ve done this test with different orders too (Gemini first then third party and vice versa) and seem to get reasonable results. I’ve had Gemini on first then third parties that got considerably worse range

Thanks for the review. I just got my model Y yesterday and although the induction wheel covers are less efficient I think I prefer them around town. These do definitely look better than the stock version though for sure.
Induction wheel don't have wheel covers you could remove. THIS IS FOR GEMINI WHEELS ONLY.

Why didn't you get the Rimetrix wheels? These look just like the Gemini covers, but just black and full rim coverage. The foam is for later when the fit changes due to age or heat, they may rattle. Also the tight clasps will wear out the paint on the alloy wheels where it contacts.

Also the ringers version is not efficient as the fan blades are rut in the opposite direction. Making the car inefficient.
Hey Dylan, great video. Just wondering if you ever experienced any clicking noises from the matt black rims. Even after using the foam inserts, mine started making odd noises which were clearly audible.
Hi Dilan, hope you are doing good, why dont you try with plastic dip and measure the weights before and after for gemini wheels if possible

I have the same caps. I do notice the alloy rims being silver, do show up more with the black caps. I was considering partially spraying the visible part with plasti dip.

Do these not come like 2 for right wheels and 2 for left that are mirror image of the right ones? Most sellers seem to be supplying all 4 of the same pattern!!
Tesla’s Gemini caps and uberturbines are all 4 the same

@@DylanHongTech And I hope that you are feeling better. I am a bit jealous that many of the YT Tesla videos/owners are living in "Cali" except for Bjorn ( Shout out here ...LOL!!!) For me, I have to plan for the winter with an extra set of winter tires and rims. And then I find out ( My fault and oversight really ) that the Model Y Performance have staggered tires sizes. The tires in the rear are bigger/wider than the front....YIKES !!!

Not really. I’m sure there are some minor paint swirls but nothing crazy

Yeah, of the three I’ve tested I use these the most because of the efficiency
In reality, none of the wheel covers available on the market can match the quality and efficiency of the original. Modifying them is a waste of money, and it is better to replace with forged wheels to reduce unsprung weight and improve driving and handling feel.
He had more efficiency with the new covers in this video.

These are clones of Tesla’s caps. Tesla doesn’t make different left/right caps or wheels for their induction wheels
Seems they’ve totally changed the style following the link provided. Not a fan of the new look.

They’re probably an injection molded copy. They have the same fin shapes, but the side with the clips is totally different. Then the plastic wraps around the rims of the wheels as well. Tesla’s covers leave the rims exposed
Could u please share where did you get the center covers without the logo?
I don’t know if the manufacturer sells them. They were previously included with the covers, but that got changed at some point. I do know the at they’re considering including them again.

spray paint ur existing identical covers in matteblack for less than $189 in a painting shop?
The existing factory covers do not lip over the rim edges like these replacements. You will have black covers with silver rim around the edge.

Those wheel cover clips look a lot liek the T-Parts wheel cover design. Those are cancer! Cool wheel cover though, wish they had a better grip design.

The included aero caps have a glossy finish and do not cover the the raised outer part of the rim. So you end up with some pain chipping issues and then a silver outline around the caps. Doesn’t look as clean
Agree - got these b/c it’s all black and hide the rim rash on my wife’s Y. Looks good from afar. They now come with the default blank black centers but I also ordered the matte black T centers separately. Not sure how they are more efficient since they are basically identical design but are a bit bigger to hide the rims whereas the original oem Gemini sits flush inside the rim.
