In the level 1 freediving course I took, they taught us that a long extended passive exhale, with pursed lips would not release c02. Is PFI teaching it wrong?
I am not familiar with the PFI teaching system. I couldn't say if they are teaching wrong or not. But if you extend your exhalation (with pursed lips or not, it's irrelevant), you will remove more CO2 from your body. And if you are removing more CO2 from your body than producing, then yes, it is a form of hyperventilation.
