Great explanation. I thought that for static it would be a good idea to hyperventilate to delay the urge to breathe, but I did not realize it would have impact on the delivery of oxygen. Thanks!

Hi! Yes, it is a mild version of hyperventilation. And no, it doesnt increase level of O2 (I have a video about O2 transportation, check it out)

Hi, thanks for the explanation. I have a question for you : some people do hyperventilation in order to hold their breath longer with their lungs empty. They don't dive, they just do it on their bed or on the chair. I think that is a "Wim Hof" technic if I'm not wrong. What do you think about this ? Just adding that they hyperventilate, each session is between 20 min to an hour. And that 3 times a week...
    Regards, a Koh Tao lover

Hi Senek! Dry empty lungs STA is a great exercise! And you absolutly dont need to do HV before it. I have a video about it ruclips.net/video/2a3vOh5B1BY/видео.html

hi .. if not doing relaxation breath using hyperventilation before freediving, any other method that can be use for breath more longer for static dynamic and depth. thanks

aother form is tidal breathing - you breathing the same way as you breath before you fall asleep or when you watch boring movie :-)

And this is why COPD patients shouldn’t have their oxygen set at 4 or above.

I suffer from ocd and one of my fears is that i am going to overbreathe and then be drinking something or possibly choke on something without feeling an urge to breathe so it would result in brain injury from lack of oxygen. Do you know if this is a possibility and if not why? Sorry if this is a bit crazy question it just gives me a lot of anxiety thanks

Hi! It would not correct from me if I give any medical related advices. But in general freediving is very safe activity if you follow safety rules!
