Hi all, please forgive me, but there is a significant error in the formulas in this video which Leonardo has pointed out below in a comment. (possibly could be to do with the late night recordings! who knows) Anyways....If you are looking to rank by say 'Total Sales' then the third parameter needs to be 'Total Sales' not the column name. TOPN will rank based on the 'order by expression' you give it. So you could order by anything. Through the error in this video I have ultimately rank by alphabetical order which obviously is a pretty useless insight if you think about it.
This is a perfect example where you can get results and then think, ok I must have it correct when actually it is totally wrong and calculating something that to very different from what you were looking to achieve.
Anyway please note this. I will use this technique a lot in the future as it's a great way to discover insights fast.
    Until next time. Chrs, Sam

The error has confused me and I believe it should be DESC not ASC. Is there an updated video on this topic?

Hello, Topn is useful when it shows only the top 2 products or top 10 customers from the whole list, but in your formula all the products are highlighted in the table without any segregation. So, what's the benefit? If i am doing some mistake in understanding your working, please clarify. Thanks

Hello Sam, Is it possible to add another row with the total sales for the rest of the customer? In your case, right after Virginia called "sales other customers"

    Hi there,
In the top customers through time video you have used DESC to get the top 10 customers but here you are using ASC. I am bit confused can you suggest which is correct , what exactly I need to use while calculating the TOP N values. Whether it should be ASC or DESC kindly clarify my doubt.

    Thank you for this!!
Is there a way I can export my topN table with slicer? Whenever I export to excel, it exports the whole rows (sample: 50 rows instead of the top 10)
    Thank you so much!!

      Hello Laurice Villarino,
thank you for posting your query onto our channel.
Once you select the slicer and have the results for the "TOP 10" then select the table visual that you want to export and on the top-right side of the visual click onto the 3 dots (...) and select the option of export data. And now, you'll have the filtered data in the Excel file.
For furthermore queries, you can also reach out to us onto our Community Forum where our members as well as experts team will be able to assist you in a better and efficient manner. Below is the link of the forum provided for the reference as well.

Thanks for the Video. Is there a way to update the TOP N numbers dynamically from the report? Like TOPN(Variable) and This Variable should change based upon the Slicer drop down values.

As written, is the ranking the top two products taken over all states, or the unique top 2 products within each state? And how would one do the way that this isn't (i.e. contrast)? :) Thanks, very informative video.

There is a small issue with the formula, as mentioned in the other comment (I'll be updating soon), but regarding your question, it depends in which context the calc. is in. Because it's being filtered by each state at each row in the table it is by state, but if it wasn't then it would be across all states.

Newer to Power BI, but why did the TopN function designating a "10" result in 10 rows being returned?
