Thank you Chandoo, It's really most useful and novel feature, but need to think and practice to put it for use. Of course your explanation and examples are spot on, as usual and will help us build upon it easily! 😊👍
Chandoo is a no.1 data analyst in my opinion, A great human being, a true kind hearted man who never looking just for money but for helping others by giving techniques . plz subscribe his channel. Respect chandoo, love from Bangladesh .
Great session. The sound used for clicking the Field Parameters option in Preview feature at 1.53 is hilarious😄. Jokes apart, session is awesome. Thank you!
Your teachings + Your efforts are more awesome than the Awesome Chocolate Buisness (Dataset of yours ) 😂❤... Thank you sir, The content was really helpful 🙏🏻✨
Hi chandoo, You explain each one of concept regarding data so well. My question is how do you make video so interactive and animated. Please reply Take care 🙏
Thanks Pawan. I use Camtasia to create and edit my videos. As video editing is one of my passions, I try to learn new and effective ways to communicate ideas. I made a video about the behind scenes here. Feel free to watch it - ruclips.net/video/P0Wb615JVZw/видео.html
Ok.. I had a play. This is simpler than it sounded. You just put "column selector" measure on X axis and "measure selector" on Y axis. Add both slicers and you have a 2 way field control.
So, now we can use slicers/selectors, not just for filtering the visuals, we can also use them in the column headers (grouping/categories), in the row headers, and in the values sections of pivot-like visuals, and use all of this dynamically. Of course that is super useful to reduce the number of visuals we need to put on one page, provided we don’t want to see them at the same time. Somehow, in hindsight, this evolution seems a logical step and predictable. I wish I had predicted it myself. :-)
SELECTEDVALUE() offers a default value option. Use it to return the field or measure you want to use by default. Also, use the "single-select" option on the field parameter slicer so something is always selected.
Thanks for this video. Your explanation of Field Parameters was easy to understand. I have only recently switched my career to data and I am working in Tableau. I have a small question regarding Field Parameters in Power BI. Can we relate this to the Parameters concept in Tableau? Or are they completely different. Ohh and you got yourself a new subscriber!!!
@ hey Chandu thanks for the reply I appreciate but where is slicer formatting there are visuals and also in the format option there is nothing as such. Can you please clarify. I thought I will go to button and bookmarks
Brilliant...just awesome feature now by powerbi...and so brilliantly explained by you sir. Namaskaram 🙏😀
Namaste Satish... 😀🙏
Thank you for explaining In a very simple, clear and fun way!
Thank you Chandoo, It's really most useful and novel feature, but need to think and practice to put it for use. Of course your explanation and examples are spot on, as usual and will help us build upon it easily! 😊👍
You are welcome Vijay.
wow, i used to create a table and use a combination of switch/selectedvalue to get this. now it is much more simpler. great tip. kudos

This is amazing addition in my tool kit.
You are awesome sir, nicely explained and video editing wahhhh....
This is amazing! In the past we had to do this by duplicating data in power query.
Succinct and clear demonstrations. Thank you!
Great explanation, you make it easier sir. Thanks alot 🙏
Thankyou sir. Your content is really amazing. keep making the videos

The content was really helpful 🙏🏻✨
I have been trying to use the parameters but they do not affect any visual I make how do I make it responsive
Thank you for explaining the field parameters
Very cool! Thanks for explaining and demoing.
Hi, do i use field parameters that include agrregated measures in calculations such as ytd and mtd

Just brilliant ! and many thanks for your awesomely very insightful videos
Hello,
Thankyou for an eye opening Video...!
Can u please make out one on how to create parameters as per Tableau in Power bi.
Very Good explanation Chandoo....loved that magic gal clipping 😃
Hi chandoo,
You explain each one of concept regarding data so well.

Great Chandooo this very helpful and powerful feature of power BI which make easy to customised things.
Glad you liked it
really an awsome feature.....Thank you soo muchhhhhh
In this demo, can we combine the first case and the second one? Using the Measures Parameters for values and Column Parameter for axis?
Thanks!
Hmm.. good one. I think _we can_ but I haven't' thought about the DAX for that.
Ok.. I had a play. This is simpler than it sounded. You just put "column selector" measure on X axis and "measure selector" on Y axis. Add both slicers and you have a 2 way field control.
@@chandoo_ neat! thanks agains!
Hi Chandu, I have latest version but I’m not able to see field parameters. Can you help me to have it
Thanks Chandoo!
You are welcome Chris 😀
fantastic feature! thanks for explaining it so clearly!
Glad it was helpful!
Great, I will utilise this in my upcoming projects
Awesome to hear that Aditya. Do let me know how it goes.

PS: I would call them FIELD SLICERS.
Yes. It is one of those things that changes the way we think about visuals. Pretty soon, no one remembers the time when we didn't have this.
sir, what is the difference in slicer and parameter?
Quite helpful... thanks for this.
How can we select top N in field parameter if there is multiple rows?
its really awsome you make my day
How do we set the default value for the field parameter slicer?
SELECTEDVALUE() offers a default value option. Use it to return the field or measure you want to use by default. Also, use the "single-select" option on the field parameter slicer so something is always selected.
Hi Chandoo,
How can load multiple excel file with different attribute different columns to ms sql server using SSIS?
I don't know. I haven't tried it. Nor I am too familiar with SSIS.
Any openings for freshers in power bi...
can field parameter be used to filter further items within a selected column?
Hmm.. don't think so. You can use a slicer on the fields. If you do find a way to do this, let me know.
can we add columns in parameters rather measures??
Wow awesome feature.
It is 😎😎😎

Welcome the channel Deepak. I have not used Tableau in many years now. So I can't really compare. I suggest doing your own research.
Difference between slicers and field parameters?
Awesome gajab sir
Indeed.
Awesome 👌 as Always....
Thank you so much 😀
Thank you sir 🙏🙏
Most welcome
calculation group vs field parameters?
Super Sir, Thank you for your support
Welcome 👍
Hello can you plz put the files you use in this video in this column. thanks
Hmm.. the link is in the video description.
Thank you!
Hi chandoo i need furure forcast in power BI with dax
Can we have only 1 field in the Field parameters list?
You can use a regular slicer on that field. You don't need a parameter when you have 1 field.
Can we change it to buttons??
You can with slicer formatting.
@ hey Chandu thanks for the reply I appreciate but where is slicer formatting there are visuals and also in the format option there is nothing as such. Can you please clarify. I thought I will go to button and bookmarks
Use "new" slicer visual and set the formatting to look like buttons.
Great 😃👍

hey mate do you have a power BI course on udemy ?
I don't have anything on udemy. But I do have a course on Power BI here - chandoo.org/wp/power-bi-play-date/
@@chandoo_ Cheers. I will check this out.
Interesting!!
😀
But we could do it previously with disconnected tables… Or do I miss something…
We could, but this makes the process simpler.
Thank you
