    if you're ever back up there, the walk from ulriken to fløien is fantastic. I work near the hospital, so once in a while when it's nice out I walk up ulriken, walk over to fløien and walk down or take the funicular depending on how knackered I am and then get the bus home. Takes a while, but it's a nice chill walk

      In UK it was normal to be closed on Sunday and half day Wednesday until late 80s. Then it all changed under the guise of "progress." Now everyone wants to have those days off, but no one wants to lose the shops being open.

    • @Dan-fo9dk
      @Dan-fo9dk Месяц назад +1

      Since when was it "old fashion" to have workers rights...??? People who are working in retail area also need free time. Your country has never left the old idea that people are slaves.....so who is lagging behind...????????

    • @derektaylor2941
      @derektaylor2941 Месяц назад

      @Dan-fo9dk it's a debatable viewpoint either way. How do you balance the needs of a modern society with the needs of protecting the workforce? The theory was that when we lost our Sunday and (in my town in UK, half day Wednesday) we were compensated by more 'flexible' days off.
      That protects worker's rights. However, as family groups now have different times off it has contributed to the break down in the nuclear family principle and with catastrophic consequences, in my opinion.

    Oh well done for not just doing the cable car but taking a wee walk, from a local who grew up metres from Ulriksbanen! Going up to Ulriksvarden is a pretty decent walk if you hadn’t planned on doing any hiking. It’s not that onerous, but it gives you a really nice view. I guess you were there at the wrong time of year to see the sheep. Really, there are so many similarities between Scotland and Norway, yet there are are so different too. I guess that’s what makes it interesting. I do enjoy watching you exploring my local neighbourhood.

    Thanks so much for a fantastic tour of Bergen. The gondola was amazing and wow those views! Glad you had something better than a hotdog. I really enjoy your videos. Cheers from Melbourne Australia

    Love Bergen and the views from up there are amazing. Nice to see it again. Great video as always . The cable car wasn't running when I was there one evening so it was a quite a slog up and down before dark, but well worth it.

    Back in one of my favourite parts of the world (only behind Switzerland). I really like the way your adventures are as much about you learning about places as they are about showing destinations. I'm with you on the padlocks too. The beauty of the mountains is the mountains, not random bits of hardware - I feel the same about the craze of balancing rocks in towers.

    Really nice to see this video, Steve. Was in Bergen on Wednesday, but it rained so hard that we were soaked to the skin after just ten minutes. It's such a lovely city, though.

    I'm glad to say I've been there - which makes a change! We arrived late at night due to floods, and at 11 pm found the best fish soup ever being served at a small stall by the docks. I love the station. I never got up the mountain, though, so thanks!

    Thank you Steve! treat to watch as always! and in beautiful Norway - one of my favourite places on the planet.
    I remember first time going there - I kept stopping and thinking - God, this is most beautiful view I have ever seen, only to say that again half an hour later :)
