@poorboysrc can u please address the problem with top speed rc he's not running a tamiya. Not one part of that car is tamiya. If he's allowed to run this car then I can run my sakura zero and call it a tt01. Doesn't he need to be running a tamiya chassis?

My neighbors have gotten used to me with the camera on my head or a tripod. Haha. Good idea on the body reinforcements and splitter. I would suggest using some polycarbonate, hdpe, or some abs instead of the balsa. They are generally easy to work with and take some serious abuse. (as seen in a bunch of my vids) I learned a while ago that reinforcing the chassis and body reduced damage to driveline components. It helped reduce the downtime I was experiencing waiting on parts. As an added bonus polycarbonate is great because being see through makes it easier to work with in some cases. Good improvements on the runs! Can't wait to see how the builds go!
Agree that polycarbonate would have been a nicer choice. I was just feeling creative in the moment, the balsa was kicking around, and boom, it happened. Lol! 👊🏼
Wow, your car is really cool! I mean the one you drove there in, very nice, and nice you mentioned it, I was trying to freezeframe and read on the rear, ha ha! Great run, dude! Lovely weather and great sunny location, makes me think you're in California rather than Canada, ha ha! Lovely stuff with the aero improvements, I've been attempting same thing... Also spending a fortune on Shoegoo... I need to remember to email you, I finally also managed to get a run done and clock me a speed for the board. Happy to hear your back is better, buddy! Excellent!
Haha thanks Mads. Yeah, the '85 Camry gets more looks and turns more heads than my proper sports cars do, lol! I think people love seeing these old econo-boxes in nice shape, because it takes us back to when we were kids. A little nostalgia is good for us, right? Haha. Happy to hear you've got some runs under your belt. Looking forward to the vids! 🍻
@@poorboysrc Yup! It's that nostalgia thing, gotta love it! It sort of reminds me of my old Corolla '86, but when I saw it on the video, I mostly thought of my dad's old Honda Accord and Mazda 929, it's weird that those are now classics these days... The video is up, just go check it when you find 9 minutes for it, ha ha!
That carbon fiber brace goes across the middle. The two empty holes you have use the same screws used for the driveshaft bearing. The two outer holes line up with the main supports for the steering
Nice rig. 2 degree rear hubs for toe in and 2 degree toe out on the front helped me a lot to keep it straight. I use contact foam tires and have had them to really high speeds with good results. Ive got a new esc coming to try and get some more speed and im playing around with gearing still. Thanks for doing these vids!
Haha, thanks pal! I love the Camry, too. I should have washed it before putting it on TV. My wife painted it last year, it's actually a very clean car. 👌
With the flysky radios, I found they still like to have the antenna in the car sticking up even though they are short,I try to have it in an antenna tube sticking out of the body where possible to maximise reception
I've had range and interference issues with all 3 of my flysky radios and crashed my ta05 real bad through signal loss so I invested in a budget radio from a more established firm. I got the sanwa mx6 and haven't looked back. Solid connection.
Awesome update bro! Good to hear the back is getting better. Wish I had a TT01 or 02 to participate in these speed runs too, but enjoying watching all the attempts anyways. 👍😎 keep rocking it brother! Maybe next challenge, I’ll participate too? All the best to you and all your loved ones.
We'll do it again next year, for sure. I like to change up the chassis each year, but it'll always be a budget-friendly Tamiya chassis. Thing is, once we start hopping them up, the budget tends to go out the window. Lol! 😆
Haha thanks buddy. Truth be told, my first car was a Chevy Celebrity. I'd love to own one again. I'm always on the lookout for 80's and 90's econo-box cars, I love them all! Haha! 🤣
Great run dude.... I put the same motor in my Super Avante I my thoughts is, the motor is a dog, for a 10.5 I felt it should have been faster then I realized that its only @ a 4500kv motor. I say, a motor with 8T or lower will yield much better results. With that said, YES, it's great to get out when you been stuck in the house And your speeds are good with the stock spur... Good Luck and glad your feeling better.
You should consider adding stability control like AVC as you increase the speed. Most of my “go fast” cars have AVC. Some cars are just too skittish at high speeds. It’s super nice to have your car track straight as an arrow at 60mph down the straight.
Yeah, I like what you're saying. I don't know anything about AVC. Where do you suggest I start researching what to buy, and how to use it? I'm totally new to this "go fast" world. 🤣🍻
Hi Fil. Nice run dude. 39 not bad for stock gearing. But you def need 64T spur gear or higher. I have a new sensored motor and have had to change the ESC as well but the throttle response is much more controllable. Some close calls there and as you say what's going on with with your electronics !! Anyway great video and good luck for the next run (40 is just around the bend. Not literally 😂😂😅😅🤣🤣)
My 64t spur just showed up, and so did my new motor! I'm heading out of town for a couple days, but I'll get everything installed and running again for the weekend. 🍻
You're losing signal right about where I am with the Dumbo RC. It's decent, but not enough if you're looking for big numbers. Your balsa wood bumper was a better idea than my spare lexan hack job. That thing melted after 1 run! 😆
@poorboysrc After talking with dude at the hobby shop, he explained to me that the length of the antenna wire determines your signal to the radio. My mistake was cutting the antenna shroud so the little exposed tail stuck out like back in the day. It broke off from taking the body on and off, so I think that was the issue. Got another receiver coming tomorrow, so it should solve the problem.
@@scaleworksRC Oh yeah that makes sense. A lot of guys in the speed run challenge were running the Dumbo radio and said they were getting great range, so I bet that's your issue. At least you know now! Good luck!
Hi Sir, just a question out from this cool speed run, you are the only 1 I am subscribed to have been usuing Hobbywing esc for the longest time but I know you might not have tested this, maybe…but still wann try and ask if I can use a hobbywing 1625 and 1060 on a 180 size motor? A cheaper Dumborc I think is better for speedruns, great range!
I'm not too familiar with the HW1625, but I just googled it and it's a 1/18 scale esc. I presume the 180 motor is also for 1/18 scale? You can use them, but I don't know how competitive they'll be in a 1/10 chassis. And thanks for the tip on the radio! 👊🏼
@@poorboysrcthanks sir, I also can’t find any exact answer other than 280 - 390 motor I think, I will be trying to use it on a mini crawler. I will just get the 1060 for no brake mode capability and try it instead. Thanks again and more power to the channel! 🤘
@@poorboysrc awesome, and I just noticed my hilarious typo there. Like some sort of alien word. I'm just going to leave so maybe someone will have a laugh.
@@poorboysrc What a beauty dude! 👌 back in like 2004. I had a (I think it was an 81?) Datsun Stanza wagon/hatchback. It was like a cream colour with fake wood-panels! Ugliest thing on the road, but appreciated by everybody cause it was in like mint condition! Did 120 km/h on hi ways with 4 people & the pedal on the floor. 🤣👌🤘🍻
The aerodynamics are screwed up with the GPS on the boot lid, either put it inside or on the back, it will hit mph no problem then, the spoiler will do it's job properly then and make more stable at speed.

Back injuries absolutely suck... I've had two in the last 11 years.. The first an L5-S1 disc prolapse.. just think if you squeeze a donut with something inside it and the stuff spews out to touch your sciatic nerve.. 🤬😱.. feels like something sharp poked into the calf and left glute.. 😱🤬😭... Pain , pain and More pain... .. surgery fixed it but not forever.. for five years pilates helped keep things happy ...😰 till the next injury happened on the right side instead of the left.... Spasms and nasty pain.. Absolutely life changing in a way of having life turned upside down. On top of changing who I was and how I was... Pending what your back injury was and where my suggestion is once it's reasonably happy again to start pilates. To go walking while holding your stomach muscles.. it will be a slow process but eventually strengthen so your back may not get set off again..
We're speaking the same language. Ironic thing is, about 4.5 years ago I was in a car accident that damaged my neck. As a result, I've had to stop dead lifting, and greatly reduce the amount of weight I can squat and leg press. I'm convinced this is what's caused my low back to get weaker, and ultimately, get me into this position. I'm not willing to accept that I'm aging... Lol!

Oh man, did I get it wrong again??? I'm gonna take a look at it. 🤔
Appreciate the tips! I dialed in my front toe out last night, and I'm still searching for the 2 degree rear hubs in red.
@@poorboysrc ebay might have em. Everthing tends to be blue for the tt02 soo mines all blue.
@@DetoursRC yeah I see lots of blue out there, for sure. I'll keep searching for my red ones, they'll pop up eventually. 👊🏼
Nice runs. Great effort. Need those new gears now.
Thanks, pal. Fingers crossed the new gears show up next week. 👊🏼
REALLY enjoying the Challenge. Nice runs out there.. So close to 40 Arghhh
Haha, I know, man. It was killing me not getting there. New gears en route, I'll be past 40 soon.
So close, but good clean runs Filly
Thanks, Thad. It's getting there. How are you guys making out with your build? Have all your parts come in yet?
I like the Nissan TT02, but that Camry is boss!🙂👍
Haha, thanks pal! I love the Camry, too. I should have washed it before putting it on TV. My wife painted it last year, it's actually a very clean car. 👌
With the flysky radios, I found they still like to have the antenna in the car sticking up even though they are short,I try to have it in an antenna tube sticking out of the body where possible to maximise reception
Funny thing is, I've got my antenna up in the car. 🤦
I've had range and interference issues with all 3 of my flysky radios and crashed my ta05 real bad through signal loss so I invested in a budget radio from a more established firm. I got the sanwa mx6 and haven't looked back. Solid connection.
Good to know, I typically don't run my RC's so far, so I've never come across this issue before. Appreciate the tip!
Lol! 😆
Nice runs Phil!!…. I was going ask if you were driving an old Chevy celebrity!…😂😂
Haha thanks buddy. Truth be told, my first car was a Chevy Celebrity. I'd love to own one again. I'm always on the lookout for 80's and 90's econo-box cars, I love them all! Haha! 🤣
@@poorboysrc I’m also a fan… my first car was a datsun pl 620 pick up… associated just came out with rc version…. I’ll have to have that one…😂😂
That’s great
Thanks for watching! 🍻
Thanks buddy. And yeah, that motor isn't as quick as I had hoped. I do have an old Castle 6900kv kicking around somewhere... Hmmmm... 😆
@@poorboysrc That's what I was using, Castle 6900kv and gearing was 29/64
@@poorboysrc Maybe try it on 3S?
As you know, I have a Castle 6900kv in my TT-02 and...............
@@poorboysrcavc is the built in gyro in some spektrum avc receivers. I use it on my 100+ mph tt02 helps a ton. Tt02 are squirrelly buggers. Lol
@@DetoursRC Thanks, dude. I did a little digging and read up on them, very cool that it's built into the Rx. TT's are indeed squirrely! hahaha
Nice run. A TT is hard to control at this power. 😅
It's like trying to catch a squirrel hopped up on cocaine. Lol!
Haha, it sure is! Like trying to catch a goldfish with your bare hands.
Before you showed more of the car I was thinking it might be a mid 80s K-car
Not too far off. These 80's econo-boxes all shared a lot of stylistic DNA. I love 'em!
You're losing signal right about where I am with the Dumbo RC. It's decent, but not enough if you're looking for big numbers. Your balsa wood bumper was a better idea than my spare lexan hack job. That thing melted after 1 run! 😆
Oh, I heard good things about the Dumbo radio range, too bad yours is as bad as mine. 😭
Good luck!
Great video 👍 40 was so close. The good thing is that you will pass 40 with smallest change. Going up 1 teeth on the pinion and you will 😂
Thanks pal, yeah 40 is almost there... I'll get it this weekend for sure.
Almost got that 40mph looks like the body mod help also. I cut my body to much so it was way to flimsy
I think it's helping, for sure. We'll see once we're closer to 50 mph! 💨💨💨
Just put a 6.5T Orion set up in my tt02R and it's a little to fast 😂. Thinking of going to a 13.5 for more controlled driving.
Juuuuust a little quick, hey? Lol! Yeah a 13.5 should be perfect! 👍🏻
Just posted my epfirdt entry. Tagged you but not sure if I did it correctly . I still don't know how to youtube hahahahah
Got it! 🍻
@@poorboysrc awesome, and I just noticed my hilarious typo there. Like some sort of alien word. I'm just going to leave so maybe someone will have a laugh.
Awesome build, just wondering if it was in Mph or Kmh??
Thanks for watching! All my speeds were measured in Mph. 👊🏼
OMG!! What year is that Camry?! Is it a 4WD model? Very cool! 👌
Haha she's a beauty, isn't she? She's an '85. Had one owner before me, and only 120,000km on the clock! 😆
Hmmmm, that's a very good point, I hadn't thought of that. I'll keep that in mind on the next one. 👍🏻
Once you hear it right, it'll scream.
I'm using the same transmitter!
Oh right on. It's the perfect Tx for collectors. The 10 model memory is wicked.
Nearly 40mph, so a lot more to come.
Absolutely! Little by little, I'll keep getting her going faster. 🍻
Tried joining Fb group but won’t let me
Hmm, that's bizarre. What was the message you got?
@@fildadic4217 I’d hit join and nothing happened
@@fildadic4217 it worked now
tblm02s motor on 12volts?
You betcha! 👊🏼
39.2mph or kmh?
loll if you were doing 50 , that would of been a crash loll 🤣😂 12:13
cheers from ( JNHM RC )
I got 36mph on mine it's on my channel
Nice job, dude!
Who else's tt02 signal cuts out and just flys in to a ditch at 40mph?
Brutal, right? 🤣
With this being my first you tube video. Do I just put "@PoorBoysRC" at the end of my subject to tag you?
Yes sir, that's it. If I don't respond in the comments within a day or two, shoot me an email @ poorboysrc78@gmail.com - The YT algorithm still skips the occasional video.
Lol!
