These are great and easy chassis to build. I got one put together (all but the shocks, still waiting on those) in under 2 hours just chilling and listening t some good music! I am not sure the drive shaft is going to work for you unless you get the aluminum drive cups as well. I have no idea why they don't make them as a combo package. I could be wrong. I am interested in how the drive shafts hold up for you. I have looked at the a lot and never gotten them. Enjoy the build and prepare to do those decals in stages! Got some cheapo CVDs looking just like those, except blue, the pin in the end that goes into the drive cup on the diff side fell out on my second drive with it so do inspect those after you test drive it.
Luckily i found the pin on the fine gravel football (soccer) field i was had set up a course on, slightly squished the dogbone looking end of the CVD to make the hole tighter, added locktite, pressed the pin back in and its held on since.
Checking over the other three i could see the pins had started migrating on all of them so pressed em out and did the same as above.

Ive got a few of these tt02 kits, of the 2 that i have byilt already, 1 is basically stock with CVA shocks, the other one has a handful of option parts on it.
Bearings are a must... and I also used an adjustable motor mount so i could gear up a couple teeth on pinion and set the mesh myself. The aluminum center driveshaft is nice, and I also used some adjustable steering links and aluminum Yeah Racing rear uprights to give the back 2° of toe in... I'm hoping to add a sealed front diff and universals or cvd driveshafts up front on the modded one...as well as upgrading the remaining steering components.
Please let me know what you think of the Option Number 1 steering parts you've got there. I cant wait to see some more of this project.

I went with the Ford Gt mk2 body and looking to crack 100mph. I have it geared to do potentially 125mph on 3S but I'm not even hitting 60 yet. I broke a steering ball trying to install the adjustable steering turnbuckle kit so had to use the stock arms for testing. After putting on the 2.5 degree toe in uprights for the rears, the car just doesn't want to drive straight. I got the broken piece out and have another kit on order, so I'm going to put the stock rear uprights back on and see how she handles.

    • @poorboysrc
      @poorboysrc  Год назад +1

You've got your hands full trying to crack 100 mph, but it can be done. We had a few guys do it in the Speed Run Challenge this year. I wasn't even close, so I'm not the best guy to ask, but I can offer some tips:
      - Keep the 2.5° rear hubs, that's what all the fast guys ran.
      - Adjust a couple degrees of toe out up front, this will keep the car straight.
      - Good foam tires make a big difference. If they're slightly untrue, they can send the car flying.
Best of luck! Keep me posted on how you make out.

@@poorboysrc Thanks. I am still waiting for the turnbuckle kit to arrive but I will post a short video soon of my progress so far. Another issue I noticed is the side to side slop in the rear end in the uprights. That could also be contributing to the unstable driving. Maybe bearings would solve the play, but I've seen people use some tubing between the dog bones and the drive cups. Not sure if that will fix it.

    Cool video mate!
The TT02 is a great cheap/basic chassis that performs well in stock form.
But, as soon as you start adding more power the limitations of the stock set up start becoming apparant!
The beauty of this platform is the amount of upgrades readily available, as you increase the power you can progress the chassis and running gear to match and finely dial in the performance!
Tires, steering and suspension upgrades are essential..... this car suffers from some serious torque steer! 🤣
Looking forward to seeing how this one progresses dude, and as others have mentioned -
a perfect chance to bring on another poor boys speed challenge?

      10.5 turn?? 😬
Wow, I dread to think how hard that must be laying down that amount of power fella!
We were only running a 23 turn superstock RZ in ours..... and that was rediculously hard to control around the bends, in fact it was virtually impossible to keep in a straight line to!
Crazy amounts of torque steer, all it wanted to do was doughnuts! 🤣
We tried multiple sets of tyres, in the end the ones that worked best were some really old kyosho rally block tires (with foam inserts) that I had in my spares box from the early 90s!
They were a very soft compound, and the rally block tread gave it a decent amount grip /control.
I'm interested to see your choices in upgrades, particularly in suspension and steering mate..... because these chassis can be made to run really well once upgraded and dialed in.
I've seen them being raced with the upmost level of control at some really high speeds.
