  • In this video we put the FF royale RP-30 to the test at Mettet after the prep-work from the previous video. Ok ,we got half a spin, but that was my mistake ( near the end of the Video). For the rest it did fine with 1.25 degrees neg camber, 1.5mm toe in per wheel, and 50-50% cross balance

Most Formula Fords were never designed to run on slicks, only on Dunlop Formula Ford tires which were good in dry and wet conditions, you adjusted suspension and tire pressure to the condition. We always disconnected sway bars in the wet.

Thank you for the comments, and yes you are right. Except that the super formula ford also called the FF2000 was based on wings and slicks in contrast to its FF1600 that had no wings and a 1600 cc engine

Steve, help me on rain tires. Rain tires are made of softer rubber compounds to help the car grip in the slippery conditions and to build up heat in the tire,. I'm not sure why you were saying you were worried about lack of grip from the tires as the track dries since a drying track would increase tire heat and therefore give you more tire traction. that's why in F1 they change tires so quickly when a track dries out because the sticky wets over heat from getting too much traction from excess heat build-up.

Hi Rick, indeed that is the normal behaviour of rain tires... however ( and I should have stated it) mine are a bit older and the compound of the rain tires is not that soft anymore... thus two issues less grip when wet and dry..But still a good anti aquaplaning . So the grip they have on the dry spots is not all that good ( as the compound became hard) or lets say less then my newer slicks. the second issue is that rain tires wear fast on dry tracks .

@@D3Sshooter It will hurt the watched % numbers a bit, but I think re-uploading would hurt more, youtube are not a fan of that from what I have seen in the past. And the error could be much worse :) I wouldnt worry to much about it. The video is good regardless of the slight editing mistake :D Thank you for uploading videos, while I am personally more interested in the restoration videos of old rusty and the barn etc, the racing stuff is an insight into something I have never really looked into, which is also exciting for sure :) So keep on truckin ! :)
