- Here is the onboard takeoff aboard an Air Canada Express Dash-8 Q400 C-GGMQ from the Vancouver International Airport YVR beginning the flight over to the West Kootenay Regional Airport in Castlegar, B.C. It was a beautiful day for the flight, and it was nice to get up in this turboprop aircraft!

It was nice to finally get up in a Q400 after many years, love flying on these nice props. I'm sad to hear they'll soon be retired from the Horizon fleet.

It was definitely the perfect day for a flight into YCG, lots of great views along the way!
The pitch on the prop almost looks like it's feathered, so far forward, not how I would imagine a full powered take-off would be. Very interesting.

I've had the pleasure of flying on the Q400 on Portland → San Jose and Portland → Sacramento flights.
Very nice, bet there are some great views on those flights! It will be sad to see the Q400 go from the Horizon fleet.

It's an evolution of the dash 8 100/200/300 series planes flown many 100 series planes when the dash 8 first came out in the fall of 1983 up to 80 passengers in these new q400 versions and about 32 people in first 100 series planes
It is definitely neat to see how far the Dash 8 series has come. I still miss seeing the 100's and 300's coming into YCG, they were always a lot of fun to fly on.
