Thank Christ! I was just about to dm y'all on Insta to see if you would sharpen a Kershaw Clash I found, but I found this vid first. Can always trust you with my knife needs!
Im not sure about that system, im sure it is, depending on the kind of rods they are, if your doing a full sharpening its best to start with a low grit, so if it has that then id say yes
There are 100s of knife sharpening videos on RUclips and yet none of them seem to address either geometry, or quality control (accuracy and precision). There also seems to be a complete lack of precision techniques/equipment available. The closest seems to be a Lansky style fixed angle system. I am so surprised that the 'knife community' seems to have completely overlooked these fundamentals. At the end of the day, there will be a basic machining solution to sharpening knives. So anyone that wants to train their inner samurai can use whet stones and strops by hand and convince themselves their artisanal edge is better than the guy using the machine, and the rest of us can put a precise sharp edge on a useful tool and get on with real life...
I’m convinced you could be in the middle of a zombie apocalypse and put out an emergency distress z-tube video and it would say “You just need some paper towel rolls, an old oil filter and some wind shield wipers…just watch your angle and move it back and forth…and back and forth.”
Yes and no, as long as theres no space under the edge then its fine, round stones and tri angle stones work the best for intense recurve, technically even the corner of a stone works good on recurves as long as they are not chippy, so yes for the most part
I’d like 2 see u sharpen some civivi knifes like the chronic i bought 2 one for me and one as a gift to my cuzin for his birthday but how do u sharpen it it doesn’t have a standard edge I’m new so I hope 🤞 this isn’t a stupid question 🙋♂️
No its never a stupid question i gave my chronic away but i do have an elemenum that is some what similar il try to get it in one of these videos, also im not positive but i thought i had a sharpening video with it but just incase il try to put it in another one
@@markh385 I know for sure I’ve done some Civivi Knives in sharpening videos like the Picaro and possibly the hooligan and elementum but I’ll get another one going
Warranty, also materials, more expensive at certain times means its better quality, not always but at times you get what you pay for, but one of the biggest is fit finish and take down, the ones that cost a bit more can be easily maintained and taken apart and put back together, also the steel is better quality. Theres many reasons but i think its better to have examples because sometimes the budget knife is the better choice also context matters, what you need it for and how often it will be used, exc..
Great video and very helpful only took this one video to explain everything and all the different ways
The way he explains everything in details is good
Thank you
Excellent tutorial. Always wondered about recurve sharpening. great video 👍
Awesome awesome training video for sharpening, thank you!
Thanks Jared, unless the edge is really dull that round ceramic is my go to touch up and then strop on and old belt.
It works great for that
Important to "Repeat the angle" and be sure to do an equal # of passes on both sides.

👍
Good video. People need to know. I don't have much experience with a recurve myself.
Hopefully this helps out a little
I do luv my lansky stones for hand sharpening 👊👊hard to go wrong for sure. Tnxs for the info brother, very informative 👍 👌 🤜💯🤛
They really do work great and are so versatile
Yes brother !!!! yes !!!! Thanks for the vids I need to learn to do my recurve
Hopefully this helped out
Great video....but what about the inexpensive Lansky rod system....that comes with 4 rods in a wooden base? Is that good for sharpening recurves?
Im not sure about that system, im sure it is, depending on the kind of rods they are, if your doing a full sharpening its best to start with a low grit, so if it has that then id say yes
a half inch stone is just going to make a smaller gap. a flat stone is flat
Is it just my old eyes but doesn’t seem to be much of a recurve on those blades?
Recurve... The nasty word when it comes to sharpening. Thanks for more great info! ✌️
✌

Use the corner of the stone could cause a chip in the recurve or slice into the stone.

I bought a Tangram Rumble that is finally dull enough to need a sharpening. So the steeper the re-curve the narrower the stone?

Can i please tell you the very best way to get rid of a ber?
Please! Is it scratch it across wood?
That’s all I do sweetheart!!!!! That’s all you need to do thanks sweetie
😉
QUESTION OF THE DAY: why buy an expensive knive when you can buy a cheap one?
