    Another reason to get the DW-3 and not just use the ground glass is that it allows you to still use the light meter without having to shield the ground glass with your hands. The light meter on the F3 actually sits underneath the mirror and it measures light through tiny holes in the mirror, so if you got a bunch of sunlight hitting the ground glass you risk the chance of it affecting the meter reading and under exposing your image. I usually meter with my eye up to the magnifier to completely shield the GG from any stray light and use the exposure lock button to then compose

    im new to film cameras, i have a AT-1 and ive been loving using it.
    I knew about the nikon F and i only just found out about the F3 with the WLVF, man im in love 😂 1/2000 shutter speed has me sold already too, the 1/1000 limit on the canon holds me back sometimes when i want to blur my backgrounds on a sunny day sometimes, i know i could just carry some nd filters but those are just more things id have to carry and i prefer to stay lightweight
    are there any other cameras you reccomend i check out? i like the exposure ajustment on this camera, at least it looks like it has one on the left side, ill also check you channel see if you have a full review of the features on this

      Look into the Nikon FM2, they have a 1/4000th of a shutter max out and from what I’ve heard and read they are very reliable. The battery only powers the light meter. So fully mechanical

    Hmm. I just got a F3 today and the only way I can see the meter is with the magnifier. My eyes ain't the greatest, but heck, I can't even see it if I put my eye up to the opening with reading glasses on. I don't think I'll ever be able to use the DW-3 at waist level w/o pre-setting the exposure & focus.

    • @JadenWhite
      @JadenWhite  Год назад +1

      Once you get used to the F3 or like cameras you’ll eventually be able to guess settings or focus throws after some time. I personally only shoot my F3 on Aperture mode. Do you have the regular viewfinder? I find it to be the easiest way to see all my settings. Dw3 (for me) is just for fun

    • @jaxytvids
      @jaxytvids Год назад

      @@JadenWhite It only came with the DW3. It doesn't look like the regular viewfinder is that expensive. Maybe a little more research the next time. Danged impulse shopping. 😛
      I need to track down my old 50mm also. I could only dig up some DX lenses which don't have an aperture ring so that doesn't help either. Guess I'll start going through boxes to see where I put it during our move and then I'll load up some film to practice.
      Thanks!

      @jaxytvids I don’t think the viewfinder is that expensive nor the Nikon ais lenses! That’s what makes the F3 so great, you’re not gonna break the bank! Yeah of course!

    So low key!... will look like you're hunched over in the park on your phone, when you're actually looking through a telephoto at everything around you. OG flippy screen.

      I’m sure they are pretty easy to find

      I’d say most F3 (and medium format ) shooters enjoy a waist level view finder. If I’m in a faster paced environment I for sure prefer the regular viewfinder

      @@JadenWhite However, and this is the more important argument in favor of the waist-level viewfinder, it offers completely different perspectives for which you don't necessarily have to crawl around on the floor. It also provides completely different and very interesting perspectives in street photography. And in this day and age, almost nobody expects anyone to take photos like this with a "normal" camera, which means that even in street photography you are not perceived as a photographer and can therefore act more anonymously.
      Perhaps this angle for the waist-level viewfinder is also a possible view and approach. 😁
