Benjamin played this song for me over the stereo of the resort lobby where we met. I told him I thought the backup singer was a bit much but the song was very sweet. He wrote that song when he was with the Grasshoppers. If recollection serves, he was only about 16.

This came out in 1965, when Orr was a member of the group The Grasshoppers. This wasn't a Big Hit by any means, at least not in Ohio.
It was in Cleveland.
When Rick Ocasek saw Benjamin Orr play with his band in the 60's, he knew the two would be inseparable.
