Nice to see a demo that is not just a showoff but simple licks to show tone of bass.
Thanks for watching our video! Please consider subscribing to our channel.
Kudos for playing the same lick throughout, it really helps compare all the different tones. More folks should do this when demoing.
And it's a lick in 7/8 too!
This guy has two beards at the same time.
That's an impressive sounding bass.
Thanks for the demo, these sound great. Fender has been killing it with these new mustang basses.

Ive owned a couple Japanese Reissue Mustang bass over the years and they were great. The pickups in the Japanese always let them down. Eventually I got a real 70s pickup installed and it transformed the sound to that gronky percussive sound. The point I’m making is that the new Vintera model totally has that sound right off the bat. Tim Shaw has done great job voicing these pickups to sound the originals. I guess I need to buy one!
i really like the tone, it's complement the song and sit nicely at mix
It sounds beautiful with the tone off
Such a fun bass to play. Mine is also in the sunburst.
I’d press like because of these bass videos by Anthony, and also a subber...
Thanks for watching!!! - Anthony
You can totally slap with these, the additional slack in the strings makes for a really great unique percussive sound to it, but it should be done with a light hand and sparingly.
They sound great with flatwounds too!
Nobody really slaps on gigs anyway
@@imandan1966 that would ultimately depend on the music you're playing.
Loved the presentation! What would be the best pick for rock/punk sounds, Mustang or Jaguar?
P.S. loved the Jaguar review as well!
bass sounds 3:09
The hero we need 🤙
I know I'm about seven or eight months late on this one, but I just came across it. That bass looks like it has some serious neck dive, which wouldn't be surprising since that headstock is probably one-third the length of the fingerboard or so. It appeared as though you were fighting the dive throughout the video, though video can be deceiving. I'm curious, did you experience that when you played it (if you still remember, at this point)?
Strongly considering this one. How does it compare to the classic vibe 60s mustang? Is it really double the build for double the price?
Sold it to me!
Given the price difference, how does the Squier version compare? Is it worth 2-3x as much?
Would this be a good Bass for those of us slightly older guys dealing with arthritis, and fibromyalgia ?
Not speaking from a physician's perspective... but yes, we feel any short scale bass would be a touch easier to play than a longer scale instrument. We would suggest trying one first and seeing how your hands feel after playing it.
The specs I’ve read online say the nut is 1.5, width, not 1.625 width as you stated in your video.
A1.5 nut width would seem to make more sense given the Mustang has a 7.5 radius neck.
Cheers, Davyo
Fender states that is 1.625" - shop.fender.com/en-US/electric-basses/mustang-bass/vintera-60s-mustang-bass/0149653340.html
We also measured it, it is a bit wider that 1.5"
I have emailed Fender and Andertons about this issue and both told me the 1.625 width is the correct measurement. Apparently someone at Fender made a mistake when he sent the specs to the retailers. Why would the fingerboard radius have any influence on the nut width chosen, btw? My 58 AVRI Precision has a 1.75 nut width and a 7.5 inch radius. Plays like a dream.
I believe the JMJ Stang is 1.5
@@T3L3cast3r You must have huge hands. Sounds like the width of a 5er. Spring spacing must be insane. Definitely designed for finger style playing.
How is the hum on this? Kind of hard to tell
Those puny pups sound beefier than they look.
what rumble are you playing thru
Rumble 200
Fender should ship these w/flatwounds
I'm trying to decide between this or the JMJ mustang. How would you compare them?
Me too , very hard to choose between the 2.
From looking at the specs they're pretty much the same. Only differences I could find are SD pups on the JMJ, flats on the JMJ, different types of tuners and of course that the JMJ is road worn. Otherwise they're the same bass, both made in Mexico.
The guys who said they the same are just wrong. Besides coming with flats - the JMJ is a bit heavier and chunkier in the neck. The JMJ is surely more vintage accurate and clanky. Not sure spec wise what the differences are but the neck profile is definitely different. Try em both. I prefered Vintera's neck, but both were good. It's more modern despite drawing some inspiration from 60's shape, I guess.. It's smaller and more comfortable. JMJ has a fat neck which isn't a big deal either cuz its still short... But you can feel its more massive than Vintera. Also the pickup sounded more open on Vintera, but I can't really know if that's due to flatwound strings or just the shape of the neck changes sustain and overall feel... I'm pretty sure the pickup is also different. Vintera more P bass-ey... JMJ more accurately Mustang. Good luck
@@helloagain4546 the description/info i’ve been looking for , thanks!
Where was it made?
Made in Mexico
Fender are annoying! These Vintera's are simply amazing I just hate their finish. Sound and feel were pretty much all I could ask for from a cheap Bass.. If they could make a bass identical to the Vintera but with a simple non-fancy nitro, similar to the old Highway One or even the JMJ but MINUS THE AWKWARD LOOKING RELIC (!) I'd buy 3 right now...
But No... they have to make the awesome sounding and playing bass with an ugly poly, and make an pretty good looking artist series one that has awkward relicing and an uncomfortable neck...
Not to keen on all that feedback. Bad earthing I think.
