I have the Fender Vintera 60s Mustang bass and love it. After playing the P bass for years I found the mustang bass was a pleasure to play.

Interesting mod! Mustangs are great, and also the resale value is good (if need be)

Thank you for putting this up, the toggle issue for me was what kept me from getting one of these. I had the same idea as yours, but different, swapping the toggle for a pot, even if it looked out of place, the only difference is wiring(my thought) was putting a blend there, master volume & tone on the bottom. But being I don't really mess with the tone knob much I think your idea is better. Good shtuff. That being said I'm also considering a Harley Benton model, problem with those is there is no selector option for the pickups, so my solution to that problem was to see if a Jazz control plate would fit(looks unlikely, would probably have to route the body) or just drill a hole & route the input on the bottom. I'm probably going to start with the HB to see how I'll like a shortscale before dropping the money on the Fender. Squier's out of the pictue due to the different bridge.

Did you find that you have a little neck dive? Maybe I need a better belt, I to have this bass with the pera fera neck hope I spelled that correctly I do love the way this bass sounds.

Hey guts, I just purchased this exact bass in sienna burst. After having an Ibanez micro for about a year it was time to upgrade. Can you tell me what exact Seymour Duncan pickup set you got? The only "set" is the quarter pound set that doesn't really note that they are vintage. The vintage ones are separate. Did you go that route?

    did you gloss the fretboards?

That custom wiring is pretty rad, it would drive me crazy not to be able to blend pickups

That's exactly how the American Performer is setup, except the tone dial is below the volume knobs

Funny, I actually rewire PJs with a pickup selector switch.

I'll say one thing. The pickup selector switch is quick when you want to change tones.

Great review. How does it, in your opinion, compare to the Ibanez TMB30? I've had the TMB30 for a few days now, and it's OK, but the electronics are as useless as a chocolate tea pot. Fit and finish is very nice for a $230 guitar. I didn't want to go overboard in my spending as the Ibanez is my first bass from many years playing Fender Teles. If only I had a few more $$, the Fender Mustang is what I would have gone for, and, as a matter of fact, the very same buttercream finish. That's what happens when you don't belong to the "heavy wallet brigade." Thanks for the vide.

The mint green pickguard is god awful, I put a black one on my buttercream pj and it's way cooler looking...the only color the mint pickguard looks good on in my opinion is olympic white
