Originally introduced back in 1964, the Mustang bass has been hugely popular for over fifty years, due in no small part to its versatility and has been used by bassists in a variety of bands including such diverse acts as The Rolling Stones and My Chemical Romance.
Alder has been used to craft the classic Mustang style body shape which features a handy double cutaway design, providing easy access to the upper frets - perfect for solos and adventurous bass lines. The Mustang Bass also features Fender’s classic short scale length of 30”, making it smaller you’re your usual bass guitars which come in 34” scale.
This shorter scale length aids playability, particular for beginner bassists and smaller players but it’s also great for anyone who enjoys that easier reach. Tonal is also enhanced with the Mustang PJ Bass having a tighter top end, more pronounced low end and a scoop in the mid-range. The Pau Ferro fretboard has a 9.5” radius and holds 19 medium jumbo frets along with simple white dot position inlays.
Delivering fantastically versatile sound, the Fender Mustang Bass comes with a PJ pickup configuration. A Vintage Style split single-coil Precision Bass pickup has been installed in the middle pickup position while a Vintage Style single-coil Jazz Bass pickup can be found in the bridge pickup position. Select either of the pickups individually or a combination of the two using the three-way pickup selector switch, while two control knobs in the form of Vintage Style black Jazz Bass knobs allow you to adjust the Master Volume and Master Tone.
Four Fender Vintage Style tuning machines with open gear construction can be found at the headstock, providing precise and secure tuning along with some retro visual flair. For an extra touch of class, the Mustang Bass has a special neck plate that has been engraved with the classic Fender “F” logo.
    Fender MustangPJ Bass Main Features:

I tried one through an 800 watt rig and believe me this is not a toy as I thought,KILLER TONE! and plays like butter due to its short scale

Absolutely. And while I've been on bass in bands at times when needs must, I usually use a bass to multitrack at home and the short scale makes it so much more comfortable to hop between guitar and bass.

This review kinda sucks cuz the guy is clearly a guitarist and is playing the bass like it’s a guitar. I don’t wanna hear what the bass sounds like played with a pick or terrible right hand technique. Get a bassist to review the bass... or at least play the damn thing like a bassist would

lol you can play the bass with a pick too, its not like macca or enough other successful artists played with a pick

McCartney, Lynot(Thin Lizzy). Listen to the intro on Money by Pink Floyd….tell me thats just the fingers. I have 50+years & I don’t hold my bass at a 45 degree angle & do the “finger curve”. I play with a pick lot. I also play double bass. I’m not sure you know what you’re talking about. I even put cello strings on a j bass & played it with a bow. There is no right way for playing the electric bass guitar…which is by the way a “guitar” too, just the bass clef version.
