This is exactly my situation, I'm a guitarist/producer and literally picked up a Player Series Fender P Bass 2 weeks ago! That Mustang looks great, shorter neck as a "feature" for guitarists is super interesting point!
I agree with you 100%. I just purchased a Sterling Stingray SS-4 and (as a guitarist) It's been a seamless transition. I like the mustang-too. They sound great. I also bought a Rumble 100 v3 = killer bass amp. Nice video. Beautiful bass. oNe LovE from NYC
Beautiful Bass! I've been playing bass for bout 15 years. I picked up a Mustang last month, I was lucky enough to go to my small guitar shop in Glendale, CA! Thankfully I found my Mustang American Performer version. I got them to shave off 300 off the price lol! And it was fair, they had it on display for a while, though no issues with it whatsoever and even nice enough to set it up for me. I would really recommend you upgrade those pickups to Aguilar noiseless P/J pickups they are amazing and get rid of the ground that naturally comes from jazz pickup! And you don't loose out on tone.
Hey! I'm currently on the hunt for my first bass too. I really dig the demos you created here, really pointing out a vibe I'd like to explore more. I feel really attracted to the Mustang because it's so comfy but I fear I'll be missing on the versatility of a P-bass. Ever played one or had the chance to A/B them in a mix? I feel like the P just has a bit more focused sound and attack. I think I'm heading to the store today to try them out, but I felt like having another's person opinion! Cheers!
This mustang looks really really nice, but when I listen to videos about it, I find that it has a little bit of buzzing and unwanted sounds coming out. Do you feel that it serves your mixes well so far?
Hi Patrick. it is a very cool and versatile bass, I had one but I returned it and got a Squire Mustang with Mustang pick up. Very growly and punchy. But, as a long time bass player, I would recommend a PJ configuration for anyone looking for just 1 bass. And if you are not a bass player, then short scale is a good option. Great video as always!!
Squier's Classic Vibe basses are definitely worth looking at, despite the name on the headstock's reputation. I've got a newer 60's Classic Vibe P-bass, and it is one of my favorite basses.
@@PatrickBreenMusic hahah it was totally worth the wait tho! looking forward to more jams from you! & the Jamstik's been super fun, thank you for asking! 😊stoked for all the extra possibilities it brings 🙌🏻
As a bass-playing Patrick, I approve this video 😁 I've been wanting a short scale bass in my collection, and something to try out different P-bass pickups...and I think this may be GAS crossroads...
Ay! Appreciate that Patrick! The short scale basses are a lot of fun. I got a few second opinions from bass player friends before this purchase and definitely am happy with my choice!
The world's moved on, loads of people use picks these days. I think it's so they can cut through more as the bass space has been taken by over amplified bass drums.

Nice! How’s that P Bass treating you?? The mustang definitely has been great!
@@PatrickBreenMusic oh I love it, I'm running it through Cory Wong DSP and it's perfect
Excellent Review with all the Pics, Champion 🏆
“Please excuse my sloppy playing”. Proceeds to rip a funky line 🤘🏻
Yeah I’m aiming for this bass too. Seems like a quality instrument for the price.
ayyyy, love playing the bass, awesome to see one of my favourite youtubers has gotten into it
Ayyy that’s very kind of you to say! Bass is super, super fun. So glad to finally be getting into it! Any tips for me??
Which is the better of the two.........The fender vintera 60s mustang bass vs fender mustang pj bass.
NICE & COOL ! thanks for sharing this ! God bless you!
Nice, I got a Fender Jazz bass myself. Have fun with that Bass man. Thanks for this review 👍
Nice! Jazz bass might have to be my next adventure! But for now thoroughly enjoying this mustang bass. Thanks for the comment my friend!

nice demo!
J'ai la même. Elle est superbe. C'est ma basse préférée. Très agréable à jouer

That's awesome David, thanks for sharing. Appreciate the pickups recommendation! I'll check those out!
Love my PJ Mustang, plays like butter! The shorter neck means the strings are under less tension, phatter bottom end imo. 😊
Wow. Can’t wait to see where this goes. Nice
🙌🙏

Killer tone! What are you using to process the sound?

Why did you return yours?
Cool little bass! I'm at the mercy of borrowing basses from my friends still... but for $700, I'm super impressed it's not a Squire
Yoooo it’s a worthy bass for sure. Feels way better the price, so that’s dope. Def recommend!

so excited for ya my friend!
Seriously tho, how long have I been talking about this?! 😂😂 Much love my friend!! PS - how’s your Jamstik??

I really need to buy one of these
Patrick,.. those tracks you’re playing along to,.. are they your originals ? Great Neo Soul Vibe ! 😎🎸👍🏽🎧
Thanks! Yes they’re my tunes! The ones in this video haven’t turned into anything besides little demos yet! But maybe someday!

Seems like a good choice. It fits your style
Sure does! Cheers 🙏🙌
Noob question but are you using flatwound strings? Either way, sounds awesome! :)
I slapped the like button, lemme just say that
😂😂 My man! 🙌🙏
Swap that 3 way selector switch for a M/N taper blend pot
White chocolate Patrick Breen slappin da bass
😘😘
Congratulations, you not only play bass now but you avoided the guitarist mistake of improperly playing with a pic.
HAHA! Yeah I know enough bass players to know better than to use a pick!
Would you say that to Paul McCartney?
Pick and Non Pick sound great.

Quick joke: What's the difference between a bass player and a guitar player? A bass player doesn't think he knows how to play guitar.
😁🤗
Plays bass too... what can’t he do ?!
That's very kind bro. I'm veryyyyy much a beginner, but it's such a fun instrument to play!!
