I actually think lounges for the most part are overrated (with a couple of exceptions - DFW’s Capital One, Flagship First Dining, etc.) and are just not as good a benefit as a “blank check” at a Priority Pass restaurant. As I was flying out of Miami, I had the option of the Centurion Lounge or using my CSR’s Priority Pass to eat at the Corona Beach House and in terms of experience, eating good Mexican food at a legit restaurant for free wins almost every time, unless you’re trying to get drunk before a flight… in which case, have at it in the lounges. Is it the “best airport lounge card ever”? Probably. But is the Venture X/CSR Priority Pass meaningfully better than Amex’s? Also, probably.

Really frustrated with the now $50 charge for guests coming in 2023. I get it from a crowdedness standpoint. But as someone who's looking at using this card. The Chase Sapphire Reserve is starting to look more appealing.
I got offered an upgrade from the gold to the platinum with a 100k intro bonus as well a 6 month 5x on restaurants, grocery stores, and gas. I am very tempted to take it as I have a few trips coming up. However, the gold is my heavy user and after the 6 months and my trips I don't see much use for the platinum. Is it safe to upgrade, take the intro bonus, keep it for a year or 2 and then downgrade back to gold? Or will that put me on the amex list?
You can downgrade back to the gold after a year. You’ll need to wait until 2 weeks after the platinum annual fees posts though. They will refund the annual fee and switch you back to the gold. No blacklist. They may also offer a retention offer.
That’s a great offer. I’d take it since I already had 2 versions of Platinum. But if you didn’t I’d just sign up first and see if the upgrade is still there. As long as you have enough spend on both you shouldn’t get the pop-up, as far as I’ve heard.
Question My husband and I are working at our 5/24. If my daughter gets the American Express platinum card. If she puts me as a AU can myself and my husband use the lounges access without my daughter being there. She doesn’t travel with us to often?
Sebby! If you have two or more priority pass membership, can you use it more than once on the same day? For example, can you stay at the minute suites for two or three times back to back? TIA
Watch your vids for reference all the time. I'm confused by the centurion lounge offer though. My benefits say you have to spend $75k a year. Is that to bring two guests with you into the lounge(?), Does that mean only the cardholder (me) can access centurion lounges free or do I need to spend $75k a year for that access as well?
Yep! At $175 (for 1, 2, or 3 AU) there is a case for her to get her own Platinum card. Obviously depends on usage of credits and whether you'd want to pay that much in annual fees.
Does the Amex now include Priority Pass restaurants? If not it isn’t the best. Those Centurion lounges are rare and only domestic. The best lounges are overseas.
Hi Sebby, new subscriber. Thank you for these! Have you done a video discussing the lack of decent lounges at ORD, why that is, and whether there is hope for the future? Thanks for any help!
Are the amex lounges accessible to the business version of the platinum card? (I don't see why not but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere) - EU version, that is
PP and Platinum/Centurion are needed for Plaza (unless something happened I wasn't aware of). Amex has an app option but I still like to have my Platinum for the Centurion Lounge.
Went to DFW Centurion Lounge and I was not impress at all. Hard to find a seat and the place looks like an USO. On my trip back visited the Capital One lounge and that one feels exclusive with better food, service and amenities.
How can we as Platinum card users leverage them to give us better service like restaurant access using priority pass cards? Can you help us start a petition? I have been declined entry on many occasions and that leaves me with no other alternatives . Thoughts ?
This is so frustrating, I was stuck in FRA last week, flying Lufthansa, I had no idea I could have used a lounge there. The priority pass app was of zero help, the only lounges I could see were outside security.
With those airline market share percentage you kind of need to add the regionals to the mainline such as Endeavor to Delta and then "other airlines"and SkyWest get split up to the other carriers
Hey Sebby, I’m looking to choose between the Amex plat, venture x, or chase sapphire reserve (upper tier travel cards). Do you have an opinion on which one? Could you make a video comparing them? Thanks, love you videos!
Like Sebby said Platinum is the ultimate one card travel setup. Including Hilton Gold for free breakfast. Perks and credit at FHR. Uber credits that can be used for rides or food. But if you’re trying to minimize the annual fee and/or have lower spend then the Venture X is hard to beat. I’m adding it as my international visa credit card which is a must for AmEx travelers and it has the added benefit of Venture lounges and PP Restaurants which Platinum doesn’t.
Thanks for the awesome content! Could you do a step by step video of how to book domestic flights with transfer partners? I’d love to see how to use my capital one venture x points to book domestically with american (or any other domestic airline) and get 2 cpp + in value. Thanks for all the great content!!

That’s a great offer. I’d take it since I already had 2 versions of Platinum. But if you didn’t I’d just sign up first and see if the upgrade is still there. As long as you have enough spend on both you shouldn’t get the pop-up, as far as I’ve heard.
Based out of MSP and agree the Delta Skyclubs here are solid!
I’m still confused on how to use a priority pass & the tsa or global part
Could some explain it lil better thx
Question
My husband and I are working at our 5/24.
If my daughter gets the American Express platinum card.
If she puts me as a AU can myself and my husband use the lounges access without my daughter being there. She doesn’t travel with us to often?
I was under the impression that you couldn't visit lounges after arrival? If you can, which ones can you, for example, delta lounges or amex lounges?
Is centurion lounge only available to platinum not gold?
Funny they suggest this video as I just got this card yesterday
If I get the platinum card and add my wife as a card holder, would she get all the lounge benefits if I am not traveling with her?
Yep! At $175 (for 1, 2, or 3 AU) there is a case for her to get her own Platinum card. Obviously depends on usage of credits and whether you'd want to pay that much in annual fees.
Where can I find the percentages of airlines flying out of where? Like how you listed for the delta flights
Most of the wiki airport entries have an "airline market share" section: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Francisco_International_Airport#Statistics
I still don’t understand how there’s no Centurion lounge at ORD.
Great video!
What credit score is needed for Amex Platinum
What lounges are in Orlando MCO?
I checked my Amex app yesterday and saw that it provides access to the Virgin Atlantic lounge at SFO. Can you speak about that?
Does the Amex now include Priority Pass restaurants? If not it isn’t the best. Those Centurion lounges are rare and only domestic. The best lounges are overseas.
Do you have a calculator for the Amex biz platinum? If not, I think it would be great to make one!
Hi Sebby, new subscriber. Thank you for these! Have you done a video discussing the lack of decent lounges at ORD, why that is, and whether there is hope for the future? Thanks for any help!
With the amex plat, are you allowed to bring guest(s) into delta skylounges for free?
Are the amex lounges accessible to the business version of the platinum card? (I don't see why not but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere) - EU version, that is
I have the Delta Amex. Does that make me ineligible for the welcome offer? Usually go to Vegas twice a year and one family trip a year.
Also live in MN so Delta is my preferred carrier. We've only flown international once since having kids.
Great video, I think the plaza premium “pause” page showed an Orlando lounge but there isn’t one anymore.
Do you need the physical Priority Pass card only for PP lounges, or do you need it for Centurion and Plaza lounges too?
PP and Platinum/Centurion are needed for Plaza (unless something happened I wasn't aware of).
Amex has an app option but I still like to have my Platinum for the Centurion Lounge.
Thank you
Went to DFW Centurion Lounge and I was not impress at all.
New Escape lounge (centurion studio) coming to FLL according to Gary Leff.
Not in the F or G gates
But what if you're a family of four is the platinum card a good option or the venture x from Capital One
Centurion is coming to Atlanta in 2023
With those airline market share percentage you kind of need to add the regionals to the mainline such as Endeavor to Delta and then "other airlines"and SkyWest get split up to the other carriers
Great video!!! I was in Frankfurt flying biz class, I was told I can only go to Biz lounge not Senator, only with status can enter Senator lounge
I’m shocked there’s not one in Atlanta. It’s the the busiest airport in the U.S.
How to access the lounge do you just showed to them at counter ? Do they scans it ?? I have a fake one 😂😂 please help
There are 5 Sky Clubs in Detroit now
I made an overview video of the new one
nice!
@@AskSebby It's TINY lmao
Thanks for the awesome content! Could you do a step by step video of how to book domestic flights with transfer partners? I’d love to see how to use my capital one venture x points to book domestically with american (or any other domestic airline) and get 2 cpp + in value. Thanks for all the great content!!
Thanks for the informative video. Question: does adding the platinum card to the delta app works for going into the Delta lounge as you mentioned? We got declined before as the rep said only physical card is allowed.
yes, add it to the Delta app. never had a problem with it before.
@@AskSebby So you just show the platinum card entry in the delta app at the entrance? Let me try it next time. We did get turned away last time we tried.
@@llngoc Bring it with you just in case (would hate to see you turned away) but...
The app should basically update to "know" that you have the Platinum card. We just scan our boarding pass and they see a Platinum card attached to the account.
@@AskSebby So it is probably depending on the attendant at the door. She did not even scan the boarding pass and rejected us.
I live in Dallas and went to Miami last July I honestly enjoyed both for the first time!
I went to Toronto/Canada and I was denied in centurion lounge.
I was told that only card issued in Canada were accept.
I couldn’t get into Denver intl airport centurion lounge twice in 2022 due to over crowding .
Minneapolis has great food in the Delta lounge
Is there a difference in accessing the Centurion and Delta skyclubs with a Delta Reserve rather than using the Amex Platinum? I have a Delty plats & am considering upgrading to a Reserve for lounge access vs dropping a $695 annual fee for it.
Main difference is that you have to fly Delta when using Delta Reserve for access to Centurion lounges.
Went to the San Diego airspace lounge last year and it was not great. Only option though when flying Delta there.
Not a fan of upcoming rule change on centurion lounge guest limit. Platinum cards are getting less attractive every year
Is this still relevant with the new lounge changes?
Did an updated video to address that. Will probably make a refreshed version of this for 2023. Main difference is guesting for Centurion Lounges (so Platinum is still the king)
I’m interested but when I look at the benefits on the site, the Uber credits aren’t listed. Am I missing it somewhere?
It is the first thing on the page under featured benefits $200 Uber Cash. Its about half way down the page. I use for Uber Eats pickup once a month, otherwise I never use Uber Eats
Just been to centurion lounge in Seattle airport, too crowed, waiting 20 min to get in. food is so so. Not worth it. I highly support Amex restrict the centurion lounge access.
