Some things that can save frustration: - Make sure you 'lock' a pair in the app and also rename the 'main' minirig in your bluetooth settings so it is easily recognisable. The switching between the L/R minirig is what is causing a lot of issues. Also mark the 'main' minirig in some way (I have a sticker) so you always know which one to connect to in any situation. After doing that, each time, without fail I can now turn them on and they will connect and serve me for weeks until I recharge. :) - When using bluetooth they MUST be able to see each other (in a way without obstacles). If you are running them on a party place them high above a crowd or visible to each other in general. Same with the device that is sending. This is old-fashioned and I wish it was better but it's just the way it is. Short range works fine. - For house parties: hook those badboys up with wires. There is NO delay. :D This is also the ONLY portable speaker which has zero input delay. Every JBL I've had had issues with this due to their sound processing. For me this was a MUST and this alone justified the purchase as I use these for my portable DJ setup. As a hardware/software developer myself I wish they would get the wireless connection a bit more right. But also I understand what a bitch synchronous output can be and it takes a LOT to get that right. Based on how the app looks/works they are more focused on the sound engineering part and could use some work in the software division. Hopefully all can be fixed in the future with some update as the used bluetooth chips are highend enough for good range. All in all, I wish I discovered these way earlier. Nice review. We have an old MK1 model, that my GF bought in Bristol years ago. She has traveled with it for years and uses it as backing music for street shows and its still perfect. It doesn’t have bluetooth, so I plug in a UGREEN 70304 AptX LL bluetooth receiver, which was cheap, has loads of battery life, and has nearly zero latency. I’m now thinking of buying two, new Minirig 3’s and a couple of subs, and using them for my home cinema set up. The constant bluetooth pairing mode could be a pain? Is there any way to turn bluetooth off? I use a 2 channel Avantree Audikast Plus, bluetooth transmitter, which takes audio from my projector, using the spdif optical port, and transmits to the UGREEN plug in receivers. I would prefer to turn off the native bluetooth, and use plug in AptX LL bluetooth receivers.

I Have owned Mini rigs since they came out in early 2000's. They are amazing, But when they 1st came out they were like tech from the future, noting else even came close to them. unbelievable. This review without any doubt it the best Minirig review I have ever seen. Most reviewers seem to think recording a mini rig with a phone mic gives an accurate representation of loudness and quality. I liked that you used a DB meter (and explained logarithmic scale) and a freq response graph. Good video production too. Great work really enjoyed this vid.
WOW You are the type reviewer that we miss on youtube, very serious and detailed straight to the important points, this is when i really need to subscribe and done
I agree with all of this. I also have two minirig 3's and a single sub. I often just default to plugging everything in with 3.5mm cables instead of even messing with the bluetooth. Wish they could figure out the stereo bluetooth issues.
i need to make a video as no one mentions SPEAKER PLACEMENT is crucial. The minirig 3 needs to be placed on a high shelf, the sub on a shelf below it, this way you get room filling bass. If your outdoors i've created DIY basstraps out of a cardboard box with a smaller one placed inside(plastic actually gives better results) this allows it to act like a speaker, with the bass held in a space and pushed out by the basstrap, it gives a sense of bass like a PA if you use a bit of speaker physics. This unit is phenomenal if set up correctly
Just to address the reasoning on why they chose the 5.5 by 2.1mm barrel plug they chose it because it's robust, airtight and is standardized for power so they don't need to worry about the USB type changing or things like that!
Phenomenal review! I recently picked up a 2.2 setup and you absolutely validated my purchase! Also ordered two stands as I have been looking for an elegant solution, thank you!!!
So great to hear that. I came away very impressed with these, so much so that I’m selling some larger powered speaker in favor of the Minirig. I think you’ll reallly enjoy the stands, they look great and are super lightweight.
a very good review! I already owned one on a 4.2 set up, it was an overkill but I still love it. I also made my own minirig holder out of a PVC pipe on axis and it worked amazing. truly this product is mind blowing and it beats all my other big name bluetooth speakers such as Bose, JBL and Harman Kardon. thank you for this review which makes me love my minirig more and more...
@@kristophillada1767 Minirigs are quality. I'm wondering, by 4.2 do you mean 4 minirig 3s and 2 Minirig sub 3s? I've seen Alan Ross calling 2 Minirig minis along with a 2.2 setup a "4.2" - is that what you mean?
Your review is spot on. I love my Minirig despite all the quarks you mentioned. I also use my pair as a desktop computer speakers. I use a Monolith DAC headphone amp and Schiit Sys passive preamp to provide a clean sound from the computer. I had a pair of Kanto S2 Desktop Speaker Stands to hold them in place.
Really useful video that confirmed my decision to buy one. The 3D stand is very nice as well but is super pricey for what it's worth in my opinion, especially when there are others doing similar at a fraction of the cost inc. free shipping.
Good feedback. It's a small time operation so things cost more than they typically would but maybe with volume, costs will go down. I'm not involved so I can't say.
These make brilliant dj speakers for a mini mobile setup. The inputs mean that you can link loads of them together with zero latency. Bluetooth stereo pairing is pretty flakey though, but the sound blows almost all other Bluetooth speakers out of the water. Even my sonos move sounds like garbage in comparison to a minirig and sub.
Agreed. I had a small pair of QSC DJ speakers and found I liked the sound of a pair of Minirigs with a 12” EV sub way more. Doesn’t get quite as loud but sounds much better
@@todd.parker I have the 2.1 setup, even on TWS/Aptx they only sound marginally worse than my iLoud Micro + Topping E50 USB. Which is a bloody amazing for such a form factor.
you may want to check out the Rocksteady Subwoofer due out "soon", i pre-ordered a pair via their Backerkit crowdfunding. the specs take them down to around 25hz, im looking forward to delivery..."soon".
Have you received your Rocksteady Subwoofer yet? If yes how does it compare to the Minirig sub? Is it better than one and better than two Minirig subs?
@@ManuMoncleaah everything is delayed until late May thanks to China's lockdown...I'm anxiously awaiting them but by late January i was expecting serious delay based on international news.
Have you received your Rocksteady Subwoofer yet? If yes how does it compare to the Minirig sub? Is it better than one and better than two Minirig subs?
@@ManuMoncleaah its not better, but different. not as loud, much deeper (30 Hz!), just as all-day longlasting. also has an extra strong Bluetooth connection.
i am LOVING my 2.2 Minirig system bought around Thanksgiving. btw, while the rated driver size on the M3 is 70mm, and 74mm on the Sub3, the actual cone area on the M3 is much bigger, whereas the Sub3 has a fairly tiny cone with a relatively maaaasssssive surround. furthermore, when i compare the cone-size on the Sub3 to the size of the "port", i *think* they're close to identical..... .....which means, i don't think the Sub3 is a Bass Reflex "tuned port" design, i THINK it's a modified Transmission-line with some horn flaring. i think that would go a looong way toward explaining the Sub3's remarkable balance and power relative to its size and weight!
@@todd.parker no problem at all. always happy to support my fellow content creators. i am looking forward to improving on my own current video format i have uploaded and, in the future, trying to create content as good as yours in the long term.
If you want a source of music that is free of square waves and improved dynamic range let me know. I have found that sticking little vinyl (or whatever they're made of), like the bumpers on your kitchen cabinets on the speakers, work great for me. GREAT video!
Great review, thank you. I'm enjoying the same set here, which sounds best wired with my LG V30. No stereo Bluetooth issues, as long as I keep the master-slave order as originally chosen.
Why don't you have your friend release the step file, that way we can all print our stands. FYI My stands look just like his only 2 years old. I came up with all your same conclusions. I do wish the Sub had had one more step in the output button. it is ether a little quite or a little loud. Needs more control over it.
Any chance you friend who created the stands might be willing to sell the plans. I am interested in modifying them to allow the minirig 3 to sit on top of the subwoofer and also figure out a way to have the speaker cradle attach to the base so it doesn't separate.
Yeah, I recorded a bunch of stuff but I gotta say that those just don't sound anything like you'd hear in the real world so I cut it. I always struggle to really get a sense of sound quality on YT videos, even when people have fancy binaural microphones (which I don't), it just doesn't translate.
Thank you the review. This was so detailed and clear. I am so tempted to get a 2.1 setup, but they’re so unavailable in Australia. I’ll have to pay hefty shipping costs to get these. At that point the price crawls up to match a portable pa system such at Bose S1 Pro, or Mackie Thump Go. Do they even compare? On top of that, the possibility of getting a defected product and lack of support makes me hesitant. Is there any hint of them coming up with a new model anytime soon?
If these are a premium, I think looking into alternatives is a good idea. The Bose and Mackie are both good options for more of a portable PA kind of setup. They probably aren't as hifi as other options but will be loud.
I'm very curious about this but if it doesn't sound good at low volume levels I might have to pass (was looking for something smaller than my speakers for very quiet guitar monitoring). I wonder if putting in a slight smiley face eq curve would help. It would be awesome if they added a loudness setting to them via the app...
I have problems with the bluetooth. but my apt is really overloaded with Wifi. if I take the speakers eleswhere they work well. I am keeping them though
Yeah, they are really great but the wireless stereo is so mysterious. Sometimes it’s perfect, other times it drops constantly even in identical situations
The trick I use for this is to turn on the stereo memory on the app and when you used it in stereo mode after a wired set up you must unplug the 3.5 jack and power on/off twice to refresh the system. You also have to make sure that there is only one minirig connected to your source when pairing in stereo and forget or unpair the other one for better connection. It worked for me everytime! 👍🏼
@@todd.parker literally. I bought them and promised myself I would get to the bottom of the issue to get them to work, but the dropout on the slave speaker can be a consistent issue, just as you described, regardless of any variables. They do sound amazing with such good battery life tho. They are mind blowing when they actually work!
I feel like the Marshalls 360 sound is really odd, frequently the mids get completely lost and echo-y with the processing they use. I much prefer the MINIRIG’s sound, especially version 4
I haven't heard them but Minirigs are top rated here and the Katch is pretty low on the list: docs.google.com/document/d/1wPpVFZF5asrQkNstI8n-Bjm0JCeEBJVDQwMKHQz17Gg/edit
Is there a way to use the app while connected over aux to control EQ and relative loudness between the Minirig 3 and Sub 3? When I use the 1.1 system over Bluetooth I use the EQ to closer match the Harman target and I set the sub to be around 10% higher than the Minirig 3. If I try to use the aux to preserve audio quality I lose my custom EQ and the Minirig 3 defaults to either low gain or if I use the indicator to switch to high gain it is on the highest maximum relative volume thus completely overwhelming the sub. In short, the aux mode is completely useless for me which is frustrating because I want to preserve lossless audio
I ran into the same issue when going wired. The sub was either to too high or low. I bought a 3.5mm volume control and that does the trick, although the one I got seems very sensitive so controlling it is a bit finicky. Works but maybe look at other brands. I've seen the original mini rigs for sale on ebay ,non Bluetooth. Do you think an adapter would resolve the issue ,to connect to Bluetooth off a phone?
It would, yes but those either have small internal batteries or need a power bank so keep that in mind. If you have a pair, I bet that would be more reliable than trying to get stereo pairing working reliably, it’s buggy
Logitech still sell them ,powered etc. So I guess you just plug from 3.5 ml output to speaker ? If the other speaker and sub is wired connected, they should all connect? Was 2 mini rigs a sub £250 ,1st gen .
@bnewson33 yep, that will work. You can also get a Y splitter and direct wire to both speakers. The internal batteries may be pretty old now so they might not last long, worth asking about
How good is the bluetooth connectivity? Have heard reports that they drop out within meters and through walls. Also thoughts on the general usability and quirks with the app? Are they annoying to pair/repair or to just even use on a daily basis for bluetooth?
A single speaker is rock solid with Bluetooth for range and auto-connecting. The second speaker in a stereo pair is very hit or miss. Might work perfectly for 2 hours, might stutter constantly. I hope they have a fix for it, I know they are working on it
Does any bluetooth speaker come close in sound quality? I want to jump on these but didnt how theyd perform against a killburn or woburn or klipsch the one ii?
There are definitely other options out there that sound really good. I have the Marshall Stockwell and it sounds impressive at first but the audio processing is flabby bass isn't great. Check out these reviews: ruclips.net/p/PLXfucfvwSOwfHHIBaKN-A2MVqI5vRaHR5
Hello, R U still happy with your minirig 3 ? I am looking to buy, but Amazon (US nor Canada) is not advertising them anymore… Does a 2.0 setting (in a small room) will give good Stage Image results still with enough Bass without the Sub ?… Thanks !
Yes, I still really like mine. I noticed they aren’t available on Amazon anymore, curious. The sound is very accurate with good imaging but the bass may be a little light
@@todd.parker Thank you, I have written to Minirig about availability so will see. For lack of bass, I can always buy the Sub later if it’s not pleasant enough. I actually use 2 Tribit MaxSound Plus that are very clean but lack some Bass for a fuller sounding in the house. Ciao !
@@psj3940 Yeah, if it accepts a standard audio input. I have a wireless module for my SVS sub and it would work fine. I found the signal level can be too low for some subs but you can get a $20 headphone amp to fix that
Thanks Todd, much appreciated. Penny for your thoughts. At your conclusion you say it is probably not best for casual listeners, how would you define casual listeners? I ask because I consider myself a casual listener but thinking about it, I listen to music most days and during work (when I probably listen the most) it will be classical and/or ambient music. So in that instance, do you think it would be worth it and would 1 be sufficient? If you think it would be overkill, I would be grateful for your thoughts on an alternative speaker. Cheers
I think one Minirig would be great your your needs. My comment was mostly saying that if you’re not as critical of the sound quality, a cheaper speaker might be all you need.
Looking for something to replace my Bose soundlink mini2, this might be it but it's turning out to be a difficult task. Even all these years later it just sounds Soo good. I'm looking for this Bose quality but a bit louder. Anyone here have any suggestions around the €150-250 mark? I mean I'll obviously go cheaper if it's better (I'm not made of money) but that's unlikely.
Nothing can compare I've had all the Bluetooth speakers over the years. But to experience it u need 2.1 set up and I promise u you will hear all yr songs again and u will be stunned never heard anything as crisp or loud for its size puts many more expensive rivals to shame nit cheap mind but it's all over bose or jbl they can't hold a candle and even tho I also have a bose mini link which was amazing back in 2014 this is just mad.
Recycled box. We are saved! And then you pull it out and get a wonderful plastic bag :-) . Irony aside, frequency responce looks good but a big membrane will not sound as refined and fast responding like a tweeter in the highs only because it has a flat response. Big mass is big mass after all
For sure but it’s impressive for a full range driver. Always trade offs but I think they strike a good balance here. Definitely lose a bit of high end air but it’s crisp

Nice review mate! Just got mine and compared it with Beosound A1 gen2 which I got last month. I'd say I prefer the latter for low volume listening and the former for noisier places I.e beach or a party as it gets so unbelievably loud for that size. 90% of Beo's volume is around 44-50% on the minis. Overall I prefer the beosound as you can't beat their clarity even though they lack those mid-lows where the minis excel. However, beosound has deeper bass. Now I'm in a huge dilemma as I have to return one of those back and I just can't because I do like both for different reasons.
Yeah, I totally agree. My older A1 definitely sounds richer at low levels but if you turn it up at all, it gets messy and the battery life is terrible compared to the Minirig. I wish the Minirigs had some better DSP with a loudness circuit because the quality of the driver and amp is very good, just sounds thin at low levels
@@todd.parker that extra tweeter on the beo does make the difference! I'm comparing them as I'm writing this and the mini is actually not that bad when loudness is switched off in the app. Tough decision. I think I'll keep both. Do you still own the old beo?
I do still have my A1. There must be an air leak somewhere because I hear some odd noises with bass but it still looks super cool. I agree a tweeter helps. The Minirigs sound very good on axis but the highs suffer off axis which is why I put them on stands facing forward for more critical listening. I also use my minirigs with a 22” pro sub to DJ parties - they sound amazing, especially once I used a crossover to roll off the bass. I should do a video…
@@todd.parker I'd love to see that video. Unfortunately, I have a sonos setup and sub doesn't have an aux to try it 🙄. Need to get a minirig sub at some point.
I think it's very "hifi" sounding (neutral) compared to a lot of other systems but that may or may not be your cup of tea. Without a sub they aren't super bassy.
I've got mine for 2 years now and i can confir, minirig 3 is great in sound but on software part ,like stero pairing and app is terrible. In reality there is a microusb un the minirig and it works for service and for charging ,but it's hide under the rubber rubberfeet so youhar to remove the low rubber to use it and tou lose the stand possibility and the water proof
Hi Todd. Greetings from Panama. Great review! I´m saving some money to get a 2.1 system. Probably will sell a pair of sonos one that I have on my living room. Question: the 3D stands looks really cool, don´t they vibrate at high volume? The ´rigs 3 can deliver high spl so I wonder if they start vibrating at high volumes. Does your friend sell them? How much a pair? Rgds, JB
I would say that only Vifa portable speakers sound better... And if Minirig 3 sounds close to those Genelecs, Vifa Oslo should have even better mids and treable with more precision imo.
They all link up fine. Mini is almost more impressive than the original one given that its palm sized. The mini will bring some extra high end sparkle to a setup.
I understand. I think they’re hoping to scale up and dial in the price over time but right now it’s a very handmade process. fwiw, when I looked into 3D printing the original design, the cost was $25-30 per print so it’s just expensive in general.
You can make your own sort of a DIY out of a PVC pipe like mine... I will send you some link for the picture so you have an idea. Only cost me 30 dollars for the 4.2 set up with an option of 2.1
@@todd.parker That's great if you use them for DJing. For portable usage not that helpful. But maybe in a few years they will upgrade their sub or at lest also offer a bigger model
They had me until that horrific propietary power cable. So as soon as they update that part to the 21st century (usb-c with power delivery) they will have my money, unless a better speaker comes out by then. Sorry it'll have to be the mini JBL monitors instead for now. I'd rather have got these but they really effed up with that power lead. No way in hell. Change it guys.
Yeah, it's a bad decision for sure. I found 3rd party USB-A to barrel connectors on Amazon so I have spares that don't have the awkward dual USB thing but why not just use a standard USB connector? It's wild.
@@todd.parker don't get me wrong btw, these are the best outdoor speakers I've seen. Soundstage while doing a BBQ? You need to go a very expensive route to get that otherwise. Thanks very much for the review!

Premium sound but unreliable so not worth the price. I regret purchasing this.
I hear you and made sure to cover the buggy software in the review. I’ve found the bluetooth is rock solid with just one speaker and if I want to do a stereo pair and add a sub, I now use a wired connection with a small headphone mixer to finesse the levels and that’s great for parties where you don’t want things to disconnect. Most reviewers on YT are given products for free in exchange for a review, that's the case with me. I tell all brands that they don't get editorial control and I can say whatever I want - good or bad. Yeah it’s great.
I’d like to see all those tricks. I definitely noticed these sound way better on axis at ear level but those bass tricks are interesting
please share more info, a video or pictures of this, i would like to do this myself
Could you share more info like a video or pictures?
Just to address the reasoning on why they chose the 5.5 by 2.1mm barrel plug they chose it because it's robust, airtight and is standardized for power so they don't need to worry about the USB type changing or things like that!
Yeah not a proprietary cable unless you want the adapter USB design. USB to 2.1mm barrel easy to buy spare cables, don’t have to buy from minirig.
Dang, 4.2 must sound amazing
@@todd.parker if you're into a good quality music, I really recommend it, kinda expensive though but it's worthit👍🏼
Exactly the review I was looking for. Thanks.
Glad it was useful, thanks for watching!
Yeah, they are great computer speakers
Hopefully, the minirig 4 comes out soon.
It should but it will be a different class speaker, more like some soundbox competition
You have the off axis mode in the app, which is a "Treble" boost that sounds amazing as well
Good tip
Which is a bloody amazing for such a form factor.
you may want to check out the Rocksteady Subwoofer due out "soon", i pre-ordered a pair via their Backerkit crowdfunding. the specs take them down to around 25hz, im looking forward to delivery..."soon".

i am LOVING my 2.2 Minirig system bought around Thanksgiving. btw, while the rated driver size on the M3 is 70mm, and 74mm on the Sub3, the actual cone area on the M3 is much bigger, whereas the Sub3 has a fairly tiny cone with a relatively maaaasssssive surround.
furthermore, when i compare the cone-size on the Sub3 to the size of the "port", i *think* they're close to identical.....
.....which means, i don't think the Sub3 is a Bass Reflex "tuned port" design, i THINK it's a modified Transmission-line with some horn flaring. i think that would go a looong way toward explaining the Sub3's remarkable balance and power relative to its size and weight!
Good point. They call it a horn but a TL makes a lot more sense
brilliant upload Todd Parker. I killed the thumbs up on your video. Maintain up the superb work.

As the Minirig 4 has just come on the market, I would be interested in your opinion.
Hoping to get a review unit at some point
Also I'd like the next version of these to have a flat "reference mode" please. You were so close.
comprehensive excellent review ...thanks
Why don't you have your friend release the step file, that way we can all print our stands. FYI My stands look just like his only 2 years old. I came up with all your same conclusions. I do wish the Sub had had one more step in the output button. it is ether a little quite or a little loud. Needs more control over it.
I get that but it’s not my design to share. I agree about the sub. I had to buy an inline volume control to dial it in
very detailed. Nicely done it.
Great review thanks
Any chance you friend who created the stands might be willing to sell the plans. I am interested in modifying them to allow the minirig 3 to sit on top of the subwoofer and also figure out a way to have the speaker cradle attach to the base so it doesn't separate.
I really was hoping to hear the actual comparison in which is more talk and no sound comparison for the audience
They probably aren't as hifi as other options but will be loud.
considered these a lot, got the Motion Boom x2 and good enough, but not very small or portable comparitively
EQ definitely helps but a loudness circuit would be so much better. It had DSP, why not
I have problems with the bluetooth. but my apt is really overloaded with Wifi. if I take the speakers eleswhere they work well.
How is it compared to Marshall stockwell II 360 sound? Is it still worth having directional sound from minirig compared to marshalls 360?
I feel like the Marshalls 360 sound is really odd, frequently the mids get completely lost and echo-y with the processing they use. I much prefer the MINIRIG’s sound, especially version 4
@@todd.parker Thank you. I made my choice!
Im quite happy that there not basey, so many portable speakers are colored with too much base, smothering the sound and removing the option of a sub.
Agreed
Can you connect 2.1 wired mode instead of Bluetooth to prevent drop out issue?
Yep, that’s what I do if I want to make sure it’s reliable
Does anyone know how these compare to the much more expensive Dali Katch g2 as a stereo pair?
I haven't heard them but Minirigs are top rated here and the Katch is pretty low on the list:
docs.google.com/document/d/1wPpVFZF5asrQkNstI8n-Bjm0JCeEBJVDQwMKHQz17Gg/edit
Huge fan! Which app did you use to measure the frequency response on iPhone?
Thanks! This is the app: apps.apple.com/app/id490078884
The internal batteries may be pretty old now so they might not last long, worth asking about
@todd.parker Thanks for reply. I just had reply off mini rig in Bristol and they said an adapter would work ,so useful to know .
Vifa Oslo sounds even better but cannot quite match the battery life although it is 1 piece and similar size as the 2.1

I don’t know offhand but check Wirecutter for recs
Ciao !
@@psj3940 Cool. You can use any sub you want if you don't need portability. I'm using a EV 12" pro sub with a pair of Minirigs and it sounds amazing
Can I use a Wireless Sub ?!
@@psj3940 Yeah, if it accepts a standard audio input. I have a wireless module for my SVS sub and it would work fine. I found the signal level can be too low for some subs but you can get a $20 headphone amp to fix that
I would love for them to create a WiFi version with Google Assistant. I'd have a whole house full of them!

Is this the best sound portable speaker in your opinion?
I think it's very "hifi" sounding (neutral) compared to a lot of other systems but that may or may not be your cup of tea. Without a sub they aren't super bassy.

I don't see why not. The batteries aren't very big so I think the 3 together should be under the FAA limits but I'm no expert
Hi, does one 3, one mini 2, and one sub work?
I don’t have a mini so I can’t say
They all link up fine. Mini is almost more impressive than the original one given that its palm sized.
The mini will bring some extra high end sparkle to a setup.
I like the stands but they are way too expensive
I understand. I think they’re hoping to scale up and dial in the price over time but right now it’s a very handmade process. fwiw, when I looked into 3D printing the original design, the cost was $25-30 per print so it’s just expensive in general.
You can make your own sort of a DIY out of a PVC pipe like mine... I will send you some link for the picture so you have an idea. Only cost me 30 dollars for the 4.2 set up with an option of 2.1
Stands to expensive ? I brought mine from amazon exactly like the one in the video here for £20 English.
i just hope they will make a bigger subwoofer because they are lacking deep bass below 50 hz. Otherwise perfect system.
Yeah, it’s not that deep or powerful. You can hook it up to any powered sub you want though. I hook mine to a 12” pro sub from EV to DJ parties!
@@todd.parker That's great if you use them for DJing. For portable usage not that helpful. But maybe in a few years they will upgrade their sub or at lest also offer a bigger model
Yeah the problem is there aren’t any portable battery powered subwoofers afaik
@@todd.parker yeah i just checked that aswell. Guess time will show if minirig helps us out.
It's wild.
Still worth it today?
I think so. I’ve been fiddling with using these as a micro DJ system and they work great. Maybe I should make a video
I just wish it didn't use an app or they just open sourced it.
Yeah the app is rough
@@todd.parker don't get me wrong btw, these are the best outdoor speakers I've seen. Soundstage while doing a BBQ?

Thanks very much for the review!
Great sound but be prepared for it to be impossible to connect for long periods. It's incredibly frustrating. I'm not happy with my purchase given how unreliable the connection is and how poorly the app operates. Their customer service has been abysmal in my experience.
What’s the point in a review that contains paid promotions? Doesn’t that mean that he was paid to give a good review?
Most reviewers on YT are given products for free in exchange for a review, that's the case with me. I tell all brands that they don't get editorial control and I can say whatever I want - good or bad. In this case, I did get 1 minirig for free but purchased the second one and the sub with my own money. You're right that you should be wary of all "reviews" because many just tell you marketing talking points and aren't critical. Frequently, larger channels will be paid thousands of dollars in addition to getting free products.
Too good but too expensive
There great in mono as one MINIRIG with sub but not not waste your money with hopes of stereo the app is brutal their manual needs clarity
I will say they do respond but thus far after multiple emails still same bull💩 most frustrating thing ever
You want stereo these are not the answer go look elsewhere!!!!
I tend to agree that as a single speaker it’s amazing but it doesn’t takes a lot of fiddling to connect a second speaker wired or wirelessly and switching seems to require a reset. Wish that was better :/
I guess I must just be lucky, been using a 2.1 setup for almost two years and never had a problem with stereo pairing.
Not good looking at all and from what you report, it is a patchwork of components trying that they are trying to sell you to get the cost up. Much for the money there are much better choices out there.
These are still really darn impressive if you care about sound quality but the app and stereo pairing leave a lot to be desired
So the entire review is for selling me a stand? Sneaky...
Ha, no. I just mentioned it because my friend made me some as I was reviewing. I got no proceeds from the stands.
