    The recoil really makes the game available for many newer players. And I know that may seem bad to veterans. But it's actually a good thing imo cause the game is relatively still hardcore and some things do need to be catered slightly to the new comers because if you don't have new players getting into the game, then the game usually won't sustain itself. Either way great video!

    • @riloegaming
      @riloegaming  8 месяцев назад +208

      Something important to remember about the recoil changes; they were actually catered to, or implemented because of long time players of the game, not newcomers. The fact that new people are enjoying them is a byproduct! Win-win

    • @Uf0nius
      @Uf0nius 8 месяцев назад +23

      I could never get into EFT because firefights involved me fighting my own character more than the enemy player. Initial few shots would send the gun barrel flying into the ceiling and eventually your PMC would muster up the courage and streght to hold the gun somewhat steady. I am used to FPS games where either I am in full control of the recoil, or have no control at all, but not the weird mix that Tarkov uses. It also felt like you would just get stat-checked by players with modded out guns who could just full spray laserbeam you down.
      I've recently came back to try out Arena. Ignoring the unbalanced mess that the game is in, the gunplay actually feels good.

    I've been playing for almost 8 whole years now and the largest thing from then when there was only Factory and armor covered your whole torso to now is that the game is so much more accessible to everyone. Clambering, the Recoil, the stamina, weight and inertia, damage system, and so much more is now more "casual". That is a very good thing in my opinion because it's effortless to actually play the game now and you can concentrate on the MMO aspects which is player leveling, trader leveling, missions, learning maps and spawns and such.
    Also I'd argue it shot into slight popularity when frankieonpcin1080p first covered it in 2018 and then soared in the rivals event.

    • @zenn_dragon
      @zenn_dragon 7 месяцев назад +5

      Franke did draw a lot of attention to the game, still being on mainstream attention due to his DayZ series at the time. He has a clever way of weaving stories in his videos, whether or not the details of those stories ever truly happened. This makes for great content to the viewer, but also has a frequent habit of misinforming them of what is actually going on. He structured his showcase of the game under the impression that it was open world with a full day / night cycle, where he was waiting for day and night to pass in realtime in-game before moving around the map. In reality he filmed the same map three different times at different times of day in offline mode. He also claimed to kill players, when he was only killing Scavs the entire time.
      I love Frankie for the nostalgia factor, but it's painful to go back and watch his old content knowing how much he cheated and misinformed people in his videos just to craft his "narratives."

They don't understand how I can put myself up to the hardship but there's just something about the game I cannot let go of. The freedom, the struggle and the catharsis of survival and triumph is what makes the game so incredible to me. Tarkov is easily the most immersive gaming experience I've ever had. And as an older gamer who doesn't really enjoy the fast-paced silliness of most popular FPS games any more, its hard to overstate how well Tarkov suits me. I do tend to play the way some would categorize as "ratting" but to me it's more like roleplaying. I play the game and make decisions based on what I would do or how I would react if I were actually in the situation IRL. I dont sprint into combat, I stop and gather audio information when I hear something and I push when I feel i have an advantage. I feel like this game rewards (most of the time) my specific playstyle and I freaking love it. Heck, sometimes I ever roleplay as Sam Fisher ;)

I started playing this game the same wipe as the addition of lighthouse. Once I started playing and getting up to flea for the first time, I realized just how special this game is and honestly wouldn't pick up any other game for the longest because of the peak I was feeling in Tarkov's combat and feeling of reward. Repetition started to get to me after a few wipes and I became a "watcher" instead of a player. Now being back for this wipe and skipping the previous one, I couldn't ever suspect how special it feels again. Big W from BSG and I can't wait to see what's in store for the future of Tarkov.

    I wonder once you actually escape from tarkov, what would happen next. Maybe a "new" pmc finds your old stash, but you have a random amount of stuff because scavs broke in and looted it. This could be like a prestige system or something along those lines

    This is the first wipe I've actually felt I can use low level weapons. I only get to play a few hours a week so I've never progressed past level 2 traders or had real access to 'meta' weapons and kit. Last wipe I literally couldn't complete Stirrup because by the time I got to that quest, everyone was running around Factory with ASH-12's and Slicks, absolutely outclassing me and my TT pistol. This is the first wipe I've killed anyone with a pistol, it's made the whole game seem actually possible to play and I really enjoy that.

    I think it's insane how this video hits so close to home. I'm about 700 hours into the game and I still got a good quarter of the game to learn.
    You also described exactly how I felt that led me to stop playing Tarkov until patch 0.14, where the grind was genuinely satisfying despite the hardships being harder than any video game I've played, yet it was addicting.
    However, you do eventually get sick of it when you can't compete with higher level players, or even worse, starting mid/late wipe. You quite literally get sick of it, you hop on for couple raids only to get destroyed by people who have been playing since early wipe, it's not fun at all especially when you spend so much time outside of the game (prepping PMC and loading times).
    Tarkov has slimmed the gear gap within players, it's so much more enjoyable now.

    I started playing in the start of 2020 and haven’t been able to find something that gives me the same highest of highs when you complete 3-4 quests,make it out with somewhere around 1-2 million rubles worth of gear and loot, and had a good gunfight with a few PMCs. When I first got it I played it for maybe a week then set it down, half a year later at the start of the next wipe I was playing with a new group of friends and well I’m almost at 1500 hours now and I still have yet to find something that scratches the itch I have for games like this.
    Ive never been into ranked modes on let’s say COd for instance because it feels like the you’re doing the same thing over and over and over again. Same meta guns, same rotates, same mindset. In tarkov I can use something that isn’t considered meta, much like a bolt action or even this wipe, a pistol and still find success as much as I would if I was running a meta HK with M855A1.
    The quests that make me use things outside of my comfort zone is probably the thing that keeps the game as fresh as it does for me. Right now I’m on Punisher - Part 6 using the SVD and it’s been a good change of pace since I’ve been using T-5000s getting SBIH about halfway done.
    There really isn’t a game like this, one that I can make money and run whatever the hell I want and still be very successful raid to raid. Hoping to see what Grey Zone Warfare brings to the table when that comes out in EA maybe sometime this year.

    Just started playing like 2 weeks ago. Awesome game so far, love the real guns and gun parts. Having dual monitors is must when you're first starting out so you can have the maps up on your 2nd monitor, so you know where tf you're going. lol....I just wish they put a mini map with the exfil locations but then again that's what makes it harder. Arena is pretty cool too.

    Old tarkov felt so bad as a low level bc I knew how many fights I could’ve won if the game felt better shooting wise and now I feel like I can take on the world with this new recoil, now I still think it shouldn’t take so many hours just to unlock flea and be able to build a gun how you like, I feel like any weapon you can buy at level 1 should be able to be kitted out well early

    When you said how lower level players felt like they had to rat previously to win fights, I really felt that. I’ve only played like 3 or 4 wipes now off and on (cos of university) so I’m still really new to the game, and back when I first got it, I was pretty miserable and struggled to enjoy Tarkov, even though I really wanted to like the game, because the learning curve was so high, alongside the great disparity in survival chances when pitted against a higher level pmc, as you mentioned. However, these past two wipes, especially this current one, I’ve found myself really liking Tarkov. It feels a lot better to me as a newer player and the changes that they’ve made to the game have allowed me to learn a lot more about the game in a shorter span of time than I could in previous wipes. Now fights feel more fair than before (for the most part), and I don’t feel the need to rat/hide until the coast is clear or I’m forced to ambush a pmc, cos those were the only really viable options I had previously in order to progress quests, get loot, and just survive in general. So while I don’t have many hours at all and am 100% a Timmy with only ~350 hours in the game that may be talking out of his ass, I do agree with you that I feel like, personally, BSG has made good changes over all to Tarkov, and I’m actually quite excited to see what the next year brings to the game

    I've been playing for almost 5 years at this point and the game always had some good wipes and some mediocre ones but never really bad ones.
    My biggest win this wipe so far is: It has never rained once since the wipe at the end of 2023! I can't remember the patch number but there was a wipe once where it literally rained the entire first week of a wipe so that BSG literally had to change the weather because people were pissed...

Obviously recoil isnt the only factor but BSG really did something to this wipe and it feels amazing

I have a love hate relationship with this game but man the highs are so high that grinding through the lows feels worth it. This wipe is for sure my best stat wise and i am winning a good majority of my gunfights! I knew this day would come, that's what i told myself when i first started. I could never be bothered about opinions i don't agree with on this game, It's helping me get through alcohol addiction and very life changing cirumstances in 2023. I am very sad but not when i kit up get in raid and start fighting for my pmcs life. I genuinely feel like i'll die when this game does, as stupid as that sounds. I want nothing but success for my favorite game.

    im currently playing with a couple new players starting fresh this wipe, i made them focus on improving while i did all the thinking for them at least until level 15. after that i made them run solo raids while i watched to give quick tips about locations they were in or what positions to take when they reach them, but stayed Silent when they fought so i can see their brains working. one cleaned up interchange like it was candy, wiping out lvls 40+ with ease. the other was running factory like a maniac hunting tagilla for his armor plates with found in raid ammo we cant buy on the flea. that sesh was amazing. and now after watching them work i can identify where we might struggle to work together as a team in certain situations, whether i should push a spot alone and have them flank or hold, or if i can trust them to go full "WE BALL" mode and we slaughter shit, which has already been happening so im so grateful to have teammates that trust me and trust i wont tell them to do anything i wouldnt do 10 times before and after.

    Arena is also odd because Nakita doesnt want EFt to have a coop version of Tarkov because it will stop people from playing real EFT, however they create a deathmatch mode doing exactly what they didnt want to happen, split the player base.

    13:28 Thats precisely why the update to the armor was a step in the right direction. It was simply a balancing issue. Before it was the no lifers dominating over the casuals. It might still be that way to a degree, arguably, but its nice to know my chances of winning an engagement with someone that has better gear is on a more level playing field.

    The two main issues remaining for me: performance and the wipe itself.
    The performance still needs to be improved. And we need to get rid of the wipe at some point. It was originally a necessity of the game and patch system but it’s hurting the casual gamer so much.

    It's weird. I've had this game since 2019, that's 6 years. I've accumulated thousands of hours of gameplay in this game yet I'd always end up leaving out of extreme burnout and stress. But... weirdly this wipe seems different. I'm not sure if its how I've been approaching the quests, or that maybe I've just grown as a person and can take more in from the gameplay and put that back into how I interact with it, since it has been 2 years since I last played Tarkov. It's been so long and so much has been added that I feel like a new player again, yet with all the knowledge I already had.
    I used to despise the quests in this game, but recently the quests I once hated with a passion are now... FUN to do. I'm not sure why, perhaps it's just my approach and outlook onto how to play and learn from the quests of Tarkov. I used to be a scav main. Too scared to play alone I'd join an LFG server and play with a 3 or 4 man. This wipe I've opted to play alone. I haven't played a single game with others, and I feel myself improving. When you play solo and only PMC, you take everything in and waste no time.
    If I have any advice for new players, don't rely on your scav. Learn the maps and let the quests help guide you regarding that. Overcome the fear of playing alone, don't rely on playing in groups.

    • @riloegaming
      @riloegaming  7 месяцев назад +1

      Nice! Sounds like you got over the learning hump. I had essentially the same arc back in 2022- stopped scavving and just mained solo PMC for like 800 hours. That’s when I really started to love the game.
