Hi Viewsclub, here is the link to the gas burner and grill I used for cooking the tortillas: www.amazon.com/dp/B07M7PMPND?ref=exp_viewsontheroad_dp_vv_mw both can be purchased as a set or individuals! Thank you for allowing me to honor my Great- Abuela’s recipe. Of course, I’ve made modifications with products we have today 🤗♥️
In the other video you said to store them in a ziplock. How long can they be stored for? I'm thinking since they are fresh, only a few days? also can they be frozen? Question 2: If I really fail at this, what are the best store bought tortillas that are closest to homemade? Mission tortillas are ok but too thick and vinegary and I'm beginning to really dislike them. Aldi brand are same as mission brand but same taste/texture. Question 3: Can i do these in a regular non-stick frying pan? I have an OXO one. I would LOVE the pan you use but it's way over my budget. Thank you for a great video and I will try this very soon!
Hi Steph ❤ I'm watching this on 15 Aug. 2024. My question is, you said they can be purchased as a set or individually. I am only seeing 👀 the set. Am I missing something here? Thanks. Love you ladies!!❤❤
Over 25 years ago my sister in law Monica taught me how to make tortillas. Her mother was an immigrant from Mexico and couldn't speak a word of English 💙. But, thru Monica, I learned how to make tortillas and galay (sp). Thank you for for reminding me of that summer afternoon of learning to make true tortillas. 😃 And the ingredients and process were exactly the same! I learned they could also be cooked on the grate of a gas stove with a low flame. To me it was nothing short of magic!!
My husband and I Love 💕your tortilla recipe and now they are the only ones that I make. I’ve been making tortillas since I was a little girl, like most Mexican little girls do, and I always used my Mom’s way of making the dough. She never measured anything but they always came out so good and your recipe reminds me of her tortillas and I’m sure she’s looking down on me when I make them saying “way to go Lorena”. I miss her so much and can’t believe it’s been 4 years since she’s earned her Angel 👼 wings but, I want to thank you for bringing a wonderful memory back to me with your delicious tortilla recipe ❣️🤗❣️
Yes! 😍 your old tortilla video was how I found you way back. And so grateful to have found you two beautiful souls. Love you Steph and Cloud so much ♥️🌸✨ boom done 💥
i have been making tortialls for more than 15 years and i have always added baking powder. its how my mom taught me. didn't know you could make them with out the baking powder. ill give it a try .
I've tried many, many times over the years to make tortillas, and I've watched dozens of YT videos (including your older ones), with absolutely zero success. While watching this video I had an epiphany! I was adding too much flour prior to kneading. Now I know that it's actually SUPPOSED to be sticky at the beginning of the kneading process (that's when I was adding more flour, thinking it was too sticky). I feel like it just smacked me in the head like a ton of bricks! Will definitely give it a try exactly as you instructed. Thank you, Steph ❤️
Awesome tips!!! Making sure the flour is hydrated and soft!!! And I started doing that kinda reshaping them on the counter if they get wonky 😃🙌 😊💝💝 And Yes just have fun!!!!🥳🤗
I love your videos! So helpful. I grew up on Mexican food but not knowing how to make from scratch. I feel liberated to see it done for real and get away from packaged tortillas where I live which are full of additives. I am so grateful 🙏
I needed my dough for 30 minutes and it never came together… seems like way too much water, I added another half cup of flour small amounts at a time and still never ca,e together. Now my family is pissed that we don’t have tortillas for tacos.
Hey! I’ve never made flour tortillas and always wanted too. Ive done some of your food & it alway turns out amazing and this video is amazing, My family are very opinionated about my food, they loved it, I did adjust the water to 1 cup and the portion is Just perfect. Thank you to you and steph.
And that’s why I appreciate you Steph & of course Cloud because you really think about us in all your recipes❣️ I see other RUclips cooks & there is a few w/good recipes but no 1 beats you❣️You always let us know if we don’t have certain ingredients what we can replace it with & you’re honest if it will change taste. I also very much appreciate how you learned to measure for us❣️ Thank you beautiful ladies 🥰🥰 Tengo un favorcito please😁 I love hominy but don’t always want to eat it just in Pozole or Menudo. Can you please do a recipe with Hominy pero que no sea caldoso. Como para la Summer please ☺️ Thank You 🙏
giiirl .. i was just watching your old tortilla video last night ♡ thanks for the updated "high altitude" version (; i will say though , no matter your content i will always support , but i do miss the longer videos occasionally :( hope you and cloud are doing well & cuuute nails 🥰
I couldn't comment on that video I watched because the comments are were turned off, sad you had to. Your flour tortillas came out perfectly, I think some people knead a little time to understand how to hydrate dough, dough is hard to master. They do suck up a lot of flour when you rolle them out, keep the whole bag handy!! I did some flour tortilla chips for dips, chicken flautas with crema and salad, and some delicious wet burros with shredded beef and cheese in green chilli.. They weren't that hard, just time and I did them on my electric griddle two at a time and not as messy as cast iron. They do last quite a while sealed in the fridge, and they soften right up with a little heat. I was super impressed and so were my guests because they were good enough to market. I used a really great brand of pork fat and a local flour, I am not sure I can say which. I was shocked to see how little fat I ended up using for how many I got out of it. Dough is hard, it takes a lot practice, and if people are not getting it right away, there is a reason, it's not something you pick right up. Thank you I have watched and rewatched and rewatched again, a few of your videos. Try kneading on a lower surface so you can straighten out your arms, soften your hands and wrists and let your hips, shoulders and feet do the work, rock it. Give your poor hands a break.
What can you use in place of lard if you don't eat pork? Can you use a stand mixer for the dough or will the consistency not be the same? How long can the dough last in the refrigerator if you don't use it all? How long do the tortillas stay fresh once you make them and how should we store them? Also can you use a tortilla press for the dough or it won't be the same as rolling it out? Sorry for all the questions lol love your channel!
the comments on the Jan 2019 on tortillas is turned off. I just want to say me and my grandson had so much fun tonight making tortillas , he is only six and he did great, thank you
The other tortilla harina vid with Cloud was cool (for entertainment and education) but I like short ones like this when im actually cooking and wanting something leaning more towards the educational side of things. Thanks again! Much love 😍☺
I've perfected my tortillas from your tips from your previous videos, I feel like a Pro now 🤣.... How are you enjoying our negative -7 below zero weather today.... Stay warm ladies... Much luv from your Commerce City girl ❤️
Thank you for this video! I have always wanted to make my own flour tortillas, and you have made it look so easy and doable! I am wondering if there is a particular brand of lard that you prefer to use?
Making Molcajete tonight, brought it with me in my luggage from Cozumel. Curious, going to try to make these tortillas tonight, can they be made ahead and let rest in the fridge? If not its okay, I will enlist my daughters help while we are grilling the meats. Love your channel and your receipes. As a Canadian living in Mexico, I sometimes found it challenging to learn some of the traditional dishes, you girls have made it easier for me to pick up and try lots of things. Mucho gracias.
Now this is the BEST looking Tortilla ..so stretchy and you are such a pro.. I figured I should look for someone who family has been making them for generations and generations. Now off to watch your Authentic tortilla video. Thanks so much
I have made flour tortillas before but, they were all kinds of shapes. Haven't made them in years because I can never get them thin enough or round. But, I have always made pita bread and I can make then thin or thick and they are always round. Go figure you would think I could make them round. Going to make some this morning. I want to make pacadilla today.
I have a question.. so I ran out of lard and I’m trying to make some tortillas right now what can I substitute it with ? Butter ? Please help I have two kids wanting quesadillas. They love home made tortillas 😫 🤣
I'm about to make my third attempt. Can't make dough with the amount of water in the recipe. I tried 1 cup of water and still too soft not dough. I am going to try about half a cup to start with this time and see what happens. I can add water if needed. My location here is near the gulf coast of Texas and rainy weather. Maybe that has something to do with it.
That was incredible to watch. I want to try this so bad because I want homemade tortillas, but I know I'm going to need an entire army to clean up the mess I'll make. Nothing is better as a snack than a fresh made tortilla with some butter on it.
Got it third time is the charm. Gotta adjust the water at the beginning. Probably start at half a cup ...and then add more as needed. Cold here and wet .. might have made the difference.
Is it ok to use a pastry cutter to incorporate the lard into the flower, or is there something special about doing it with your hands that make them turn out better…besides the TLC?!!!
This is now my go to tortilla recipe. Although, I only use 1 cup of warm water and use King Arthur all purpose flour. I make a batch on Sundays and refrigerate the dough and use as needed during the week. Thanks for sharing.
She has several other tortilla videos. Here is the one she uses a kitchenaid mixer. I like using my hands. But make it comfortable for your home 😃 ruclips.net/video/8CmhEqM8PgY/видео.html
What is the max rest time for tortillas? Can the dough be refrigerated and used later. I left my dough wrapped in plastic on the counter over night and am unsure if I should use it. Its winter and it’s pretty cold inside but still. Any suggestions appreciated l.
Thank you! I followed all the steps and my tortillas came out soft and delicious every on point . My little one doesn’t like tortillas but she sure loves this one ❤️❤️
Little tip. My mom's been making tortillas since she was 12. She never did that extra step with the pan and rubbing more lard on them. She made all the individual balls of dough, put a cloth in the same bowl you kneaded the dough in, placed the balls in there, threw flour on the counter, and got to it. You also don't need to roll them into perfect balls or thin them out that much when you use the rolling pin. I respect her recipe but she did extra steps that aren't necessary and you also need about as much baking powder as you do salt.
Thank you ladies! You’ve done wonders for my cooking skills! One question how long can your roasted salsa recipe last the fridge. I made a batch a week ago and forgot about it 😥.
Thank you for sharing these amazing recipes. I love everything you and Cloud make. I especially love your “make it comfortable for your home” and “boom done!” Makes me giggle every time.
OK, so I live here in California in the Central Valley. Every time I follow your recipes to the tea, the Masa is extremely wet and does not do what very well
I had to add another cup of flour just to get it where it wasn’t wet. I’m just wondering why it did this. Also, when I put the Manteca in, it didn’t ball up the same and bind like your’s did in the video. The same thing happened with the Salsa Verde Tortillas. Masa was very wet and I had to keep adding flour to it to get it to combine nicely. Otherwise, it was extremely wet and a bit liquify still. It was crazy. I wanted them to turn out like your’s so bad.
Great video ☺️ reminds me of my Mom and Tia's. Sporting the Mexican delantar. That's Badass 🤣 Flour or Corn ! There was always homemade TORTILLAS en CASA ☺️ Pa un muy buen TACO! Thanks for the video 🤠
Hello. I came across your vlogs for authentic Mexican recipes, and would like to know and try this flour tortilla but I would like to ask if I can substitute margarine or butter for lard? Or have you tried using butter or margarine or even oil?
I luv your videos! Was unable to find 2 items in your "referral store" items? Please inform me re: 1.) stove top rack for roasting chilis, and 2.) your items shown for cooking these tortillas? I have gas cooking, but haven't found a good rack for the chilis, and I've been using a cast iron pan for the tortillas... Thank you!

Hello best tortillas
Hi there, can you please tell me what brand of lard you use?

Yes, it’s too much water, she has another recipe , she used only 7 ounce of water for 2.5 cup of flour

Hi ladies! My daughter is so excited for this recipe! She wants to learn how to make tortillas! Sending love 💕
Thank you for this! My son watched your smothered burrito recipe with me the other day and asked me if I was making it for dinner. Now I am.

I’m excited to try these!!! Have to wait until a cheat carb day though! Thank you Steph and Cloud, you’re both amazing ladies 😊😊
Do you guys think that if I substitute the lard with vegetable shortening it would turn out ok? We don’t eat pork in my household. Thanks in advance.
Got it third time is the charm. Gotta adjust the water at the beginning. Probably start at half a cup ...and then add more as needed. Cold here and wet .. might have made the difference.
After following this tutorial, it's the best my tortillas have ever turned out! Thank you! No more dry crispy tortillas!
I only have like a non stick pan do I need a little bit of oil when cooking them after I roll them out so they don't stick to pan or just a dry pan
looks delicious, can't wait to prepare verde to eat with them. one question ? do you fry as you roll, or roll out all the dough and then fry ?
Thank you!!
Is it ok to use a pastry cutter to incorporate the lard into the flower, or is there something special about doing it with your hands that make them turn out better…besides the TLC?!!!
Thank you for this. Can't wait to do this with the kids
This is now my go to tortilla recipe. Although, I only use 1 cup of warm water and use King Arthur all purpose flour. I make a batch on Sundays and refrigerate the dough and use as needed during the week. Thanks for sharing.
1.5 c water was wayyy to much for me too. I will try 1c next time. Great idea saving the dough.
Super cute apron where did you get that at? And is that a grill you cook the tortilla on?Where did you get that at?? Thanks for the recipe too
Can you make the dough in a stand mixer or is it better to do it by hand?
She has several other tortilla videos. Here is the one she uses a kitchenaid mixer. I like using my hands. But make it comfortable for your home 😃 ruclips.net/video/8CmhEqM8PgY/видео.html
What is the max rest time for tortillas? Can the dough be refrigerated and used later. I left my dough wrapped in plastic on the counter over night and am unsure if I should use it. Its winter and it’s pretty cold inside but still. Any suggestions appreciated l.
You are good to go. The longer they rest the better the stretch.
thanks for vid pretty ladies . be safe
😍😍
What a lovi g supportive sister Cloud is to you...I love love your aprons where did you find them?
Question if Lard not avaible is there substitute to it?
Thank you ladies! You’ve done wonders for my cooking skills! One question how long can your roasted salsa recipe last the fridge. I made a batch a week ago and forgot about it 😥.
Everything reminds me of her :( 2:54
Thank you for sharing these amazing recipes.
What kind of pan are you using?
I have been trying for weeks to make tortillas! Lol perfect timing. So no baking powder??
Same question I have
This is how our great grandmother that is from Sonora thought us! I have adjusted my measurements based on the different climates I’ve lived in.
Yes yes yes! This is hands down the BEST tortilla recipe! The only one I use! Love you ladies😘
What can you use instead of lard?
Would you please tell us about the pan and the (portable?) burner you are using to cook the tortilla? Thank you!
Yikes! Yay!❤️
Oh hey Lex! 👋 🙂💛
@@NaeNaeW oh hey there Nae! 🖐🏽😃
Do you have a recipe for Jalapeño Tortillas??? I have eaten wraps made with them and just love them! Can’t find in any stores.
I’ve never heard of tortillas without baking powder 😮

Hello. I came across your vlogs for authentic Mexican recipes, and would like to know and try this flour tortilla but I would like to ask if I can substitute margarine or butter for lard? Or have you tried using butter or margarine or even oil?
Yes!!!!!! 😉😉😉😉😉😉
I made these and they were great except all my tortillas have a dusting of flour left on them when finished. What am I doing wrong?
Yummy
What kind of pan is that? I've tried different ones and still fail.
What brand or type of lard do you use???
I did it, I made it... my grandson's saw the difference right away. "Grandma, these are thin?" They were good...
Thank you!
This does looks easier so it’s a try for me. Btw, I’m missing grandmas comal? Still packed?
