In yakuza 0 Kazama was presented as this genius who was controlling everything from shadows, so I won't believe he wasn't aware of what he was doing. Nishiki was a nuisance to him, while Kiryu was his prime successor, and that was Kazama's way of getting rid of him, or maybe he was trying to make him into a REAL yakuza, and he did, even though it kinda backfired. This is just a small theory of mine, I understand that Kiwami has a bunch of plot holes that don't tie with Yakuza 0 mainly because kiwami is a remaster. But I like to think that the story is not that simple.
@@hihello880 Yeah, it seems very out of character for Kazama, but then again the majority of the main cast seems to act out of character in that game (like Kiryu straight up using some random waiter as a human meatshield and Shimano being nowhere near as intelligent as he was portrayed to be). So I think in this case, the mediocre writing of the first game is to blame for that, even though I'd prefer a logical in-universe reason aswell. Its just that, back then, they didn't plan to make any sequels and had no idea what to do with these characters, which is why one half was killed off and the other behaved very differently compared to the later games. And like I said, something like that seems very cold, even for Kazama.
Kiwami is, sadly, the only way you can learn of this in the games as it adds the Nishiki context cutscenes. Though it's a legitimately great addition, along with better inventory, lock-on, and the option for the japanese voice acting, it changes and adds things for the worse like Majima everywhere (which is the only way to upgrade the dragon style) as well as using Yakuza 0 as the basis of gameplay, and not tweaking it to be more in line with the tone of Yakuza 1. The Nishki context scenes would easily still be the best part if the game was great.
Alternate Ending: *at Millenium Tower* Kiryu: Hey Nishiki, remember that one song we used to sing together Nishiki: Judgement? Kiryu: yeah, wanna do it again? Nishiki: *sigh* fine *and so Nishiki stopped being evil the end*

In a alternative universe, when Nishiki feels broken. So he sang all night long, letting his feelings out and remembering his brother who went to prison in his place. With full determination, he returns to his office, gets the respect from his family and grows the Nishikiyama family. This time, with honor and with one clear objective: be ready when his bro gets released and prepare a full on party on their favorite bar, to commemorate the bad boys be reunited again.

sadly, they couldn't have made this the trailer for Kiwami. It would've been false advertising as it seems Nishiki as a playable character. Fans would've been confused as hell because this was a remake, and Nishiki wasn't playable in the original, and thought maybe he'd be playable in some flashbacks or smthin, then been really pissed when Nishiki wasn't playable.

We need to a stand alone Nishiki and Majima game showing what happened between 1995 to 2005. It’s such a long time that it would be PERFECT to make a game out of it.

Now that LAD8 features both the voice actors, can we PLEASE have an official Judgment duo of Kiryu and Ichi? I know the song was reserved for Nishiki before him turning evil, but considering Kiryu may get reminded of him from Ichi, this could be a canon event.
