Bubble | Yakuza 0 Japanese Intro | English and Japanese Lyrics

- Опубликовано: 1 окт 2024
- This song is very clever with its lyrics. Some translation notes below.
Gokumi: Kumiko Goto, an 80’s idol
Kabuchimono: Flamboyant samurai gangs of the Edo period, some historians believe the yakuza to have originated from them
The chorus contains some word play on Japanese historical eras:
- Image (imeeiji - イメージ) sounds like Meiji (明治)
- Constrasting (taishouteki - 対照的) sounds like Taishou
- Show wa (Show は) : Shouwa
- Serene (heisei - 平静): Heisei
Wasshoi: dictionaries translate this to ‘heave-ho’. May be used for example, if you were doing a strenuous task.
Like a Dragon: as in Ryuu ga Gotoku, name drop of the series title
Also an ammendment, the second line of the first verse should say "not uncool" rather than "uncool"
3:46 THEY SAID THE THING

Yakuza 0 is better than JAV
I think the English version‘ s intro music focus on the badass of main characters. The Japanese version focuses more on how fabulous and frenzied the era and atmosphere were.
Japanese version 🔛🔝
@Japanese-Learning I agree
Makes sense considering as a westerner I was quite clueless when they mentioned stuff about the "bubble economy", it was a smart change.
@@MrDark234thIt was also that this was a 10 year celebration of RGG for Japanese and other long-standing fans, while abroad Yakuza 0 was their first entry
Eng version sounds like the beginning of a ride while japanese is a culmination, if that makes sense
i think the english one is a good intro to the game and fits more but bubble is a song i will add to my playlist cuz of how hard it goes
Man that usage of words in the lyrics "対照(大正)的な Show は(昭和)" and "平静(平成)装うことなく Ride On" is genius.
I didn't know that 😮 Thanks man!
Knowing the lyrics and the wordplay makes this already banger song so much more cooler. Thanks for making this vid!
With these lyrics, this would fit as Awano’s fight BGM just as well as “With Vengeance” does.
I remember listening to the tail end on spotify and hearing "ryu ga gotoku" and just snapped and went "wait what" so i checked the lyrics and indeed. "龍 が 如く" was right there.
Omg yess it was such a pleasant surprise.
What does that phrase mean?
@@wren6802 its the japanese title of the yakuza games, it means Like a Dragon
@@KaiSC oh that's cool! Ty
@@KaiSC so now Like a Dragon (Ryu ga Gotoku) is title for the whole series for west and east
3:26 - 3:55 The most ORGASMIC part of any song I’ve ever heard, absolute perfection 👌👌👌👌
Based.
All I’m saying is 1:43 - 1:58
2:58 - 3:55
I prefer 0:00 - 4:55
I like these lyrics:
“Carving out a path that once didn’t exist, now what I hold in my hand is my own answer, like a dragon (haha they say Ryu ga Gotoku) soaring across the night sky, wager your pride and shout out to the future- WASSHOI!!”
So cool!
I really love the arrogance, shallowness and power trip this song is. So fitting for the setting and story of yakuza 0.
its less arrogant as it says the era wont last forever
@@kaelell4697That is the quiet part. The quiet fear nagging at everyone's mind in that era.
Outwardly it is extremely arrogant (purposefully so).
Don't get me wrong, I actually really like the opening track we got in America. However, I'm also extremely bitter about not getting this banger. Thanks for the translation!
I am in the same boat. Like the west has a solid rock track, but this song just suits the game a whole lot more for the opening. Even though the lyrics kinda spoil the story, it's a catchy fucking song that is fun to listen to
@@jenniferrannila1414 I'd say it less spoils the story, but rather sets the tone of the game and the era. No lyrics really reference the story itself, besides how it relates to the economic bubble of Japan.
If you play on PC there's a mod called licensed music restoration, it does restore this song and some other tracks that got changed
This song has an odd sadness to it, it knows this glorious era won’t last, that it’s just a “bubble” waiting to pop. Still, it’s determined to enjoy every succulent, glorious pleasure while it still can.
Yeah true, but it also has a nice glimmer of hope in the end, where it tells you that "the Party is just beginning", since its just the beginning of Majima and especially Kiryu's legacy, explaining the "Ryu ga gotoku" namedrop
「日本が世界制覇、金で買った平和」
この浮かれ具合と汚らしさが好き
I love the wordplay of using the previous Eras, Meiji, Taisho, and Showa in the chorus. Also Heisei.
Makes perfect sense when you think that this explains the era that these legends where living in to create their own era for the Tojo Clan
Edit: Basically speaking living in and passing of eras
And such histories tend to bring a view in both ways upon one era to the next. Bygone Eras, but never truly gone entirely. So long as its history remains.
東城会の説明と言うより、単純に昭和末期を描いた作品だから時代を意識した歌詞になってるんだと思う
ちなみに平成はもう終わってて今は令和です
Also Reiwa, the current one. 2:22
@@lyricsghost2547no its 平和 which means peace
I gotta say the Japanese intro for 0 fits perfectly to the game specifically it's in the 80s where Japan whole economy is basically well "bubble" economy

I love, I mean LOVE the western opening
But this might’ve been the best possible 10th anniversary song for the series (i.e the way they sneak "Ryu Ga Gotoku" into the lyrics)
3:25
I know, everybody picks up on the 'like a dragon' in this bit, but, you guys surely realize, this entire part of the song is talking about the LAD/RGG franchise as a whole.
It's saying, "This is the origin story; we started this entire genre (and nobody does it better than us); and we're pinning the future of the franchise on this entry".
The way the scene of Majima and Kiryu meet face-to-face at the end there was perfect.
"Yakuza is messy. But I realized that, life is messy, and that's ok."
-Max0r A True Penguin Indeed.
This is such a banger!.... wish we had this !!!!! The track used in the west release is good too but this is.... just something else!
Haha mods go brrr
I like western version more, I just can't imagine Y0 intro with such a lively-sounding song.
@@Гангстер-с6ф For the intro? Yeah, but I think for the opening cutscene, Bubble fits way better. The main thing that cutscene was trying to show is Kamurocho in the 80s, and the song does a great job in encompassing the upbeat/party nature of Japan in that era. In terms of how good they sound, both are amazing in my opinion, but I prefer Bubble more just because it sounds more unique. We already have tons of rock tunes in the series.
@@Гангстер-с6ф oh no, a Japanese franchise using a Japanese song made by Japanese artists, oh the humanity
@@seunglee6990 cringe
Kiryu and majima having never met in the whole adventure while meeting the same people protecting the same girl and taking down the dojima family together was the coolest thing ever. Individually each couldn’t have beaten dojima by themselves as lao gui and the three lieutenants would have overwhelmed any one of our protagonists but 1 vs 2 was manageable
This is such a bittersweet song, especially if you've lived through the Bubble Era.
Can we blame Majima for this?
*He basically invented the Tax, there's a substory about it in 0, and it's also mentioned in one of the Majima Everywhere encounter in Kiwami

Getting into Yakuza universe was one of best decision I ever made.
Remember brought it because seeing some recommend video about it,Binged it and...OH MY GOD! Brutal combat,Great and deep but also wacky story,Banger soundtrack and most importantly,Almost every villains has really cool design(Yes,I mean,Those ps3 games like 3 - 5,Too.).
Then,After I finished Yakuza bundle games,I waited for so long for them to finally released remastered collection games,I binged it on. and beaten it,Brought 6 to end Kiryu's saga properly then play 7 to began new story with new dragon,Kasuga Ichiban. Gotta admit,First I don't like this new guys,But more I played,More I understand him. He doesn't made to be badass but instead,Made to be friend. That alone make me forget thing I don't like about 7 and keep playing 7 until I beaten it. Ended up love it even more.
Many months later,Judgment collections now on pc,I also brought it. Remember being hype as hell because first,I heard about how Johnny seem to hate pc modding and decided to hold it for time being. And didn't really expect it. Ofc,I also beaten all of them.
I gotta say,RGG gotta be one of best games studio out there. Can't wait to play Ishin! on this Friday since I preordered deluxe edition!
Happy 9th Anniversary to _the_ gateway game to the beautiful _Like a Dragon_ franchise!
Don't forget Majima was the reason the bubble burst
The fact that Majima is the direct responsible of a ton of really big events is one of the funniest parts of this series
I did not know the Taiwanese version (having this theme song) was different from the US release. When i heard the US theme song I was instantly wondering what the **** were they thinking....

@@user-pf3zb7lv9b holy shit
I fucking adore how the song reaches its darkest right before the big final chorus soars back in with less energy but still really powerful as always somehow. Its a perfect reflection of a game about how 2 young men are changed by a violent world. They have been through their darkest hour, but really, their party had just begun. That final chorus and Like A Dragon name drop feels to me like the song reflecting the birth of two legends.

What a change from English to Japanese, it's very different if I do say so my self

I love getting plastered and listening to this and getting plastered.
I always thought it was thematic that the best way to get Completion Points in the beginning of the game is just to have fun. Eat and drink at every restaurant and bar, do every karaoke song and dance every song at the disco.
This is rad!

The only reason why you should play Zero on PC is a mod that allows you to replace the English generic intro with a real masterpiece
1:21 romanji of image, イメージ, without the "i" part, pronounces as Meiji, represents the Meiji era in Japan history (1868-1912)
so does "Showは" in the lyrics, pronounces as Showa, represents the Showa era (1926-1989)
1:34 平静 in the lyrics, pronounces as Heisei, represents the Heisei era (1989-2019)

@vergilswife oh that's fucking lame. I liked the intro we got in the West, but this goes harder.

Be sure to patch each of your games on PC to restore great licensed music like this with the "Restoration" mods.
They also uncensor a few small lines of dialogue in a game or two and restore a few bits of censored imagery like Rising Sun themed insignia pins.
There's also a model restoration patch for 4 Remastered that brings back Masayoshi Tanimura portrayed by Hiroki Narimiya.
Still missing due to censorship is the Michiru chase side quest in 3 Remastered. It was cut because "muh transphobia" excuse. There was nothing wrong with it whatsoever.
Answer x Answer in 3 Remastered is also missing due to being too heavy on Japanese history for Western gamers, supposedly.
It's a simple drag & drop overwrite for each game!
