Super helpful. I weigh 130# so the setup info was about as good as I could hope to get! Also the information about 55mm working fine vs 52.5mm stock on the rear travel being fine was ++!
Hi ! Have you tried the shock and the range extender on? Would it work? Not sure if the external damper of the shock would leave enough space tofor the extender. Thanks, and great video btw!
I have been riding for 25+ years. Just put this on my megatower and looking to get an Levo sl will be adding this and possibly a zeb as well to add to the downhill capabilities. Great video and explanation.
Great video I just got one for my 2022 levo turbo alloy, I've put some fox factory 36s on the front as well.. 😊 Thr X2 literally arrived 15min ago so I haven't had a chance to fit it yet, I'm not sure if I should do it myself or wait for specialized to fit on the 23rd!!
Hey Marshall, great Float X2 setup info for the Levo / Levo SL. Thank you. The new Float X Factory is now available for the Levos (210 x 52.5), have you compared it to the X2? The X omits the HS adjustments but early reports suggest that Fox has incorporated much better (fixed) HS damping into the Float X compared to their older shocks. So we are all waiting for an update from you!
@@MarshallMullen1 I am returning my new Float X after having installed it. It does fit perfectly into an SL M frame, but then there is no room for the Range Extender. I am exchanging it for a Float X2 and following your advice. Thank you for your videos!!!
Not sure why my comment got deleted but here we go again. I bought my 2020 Turbo Levo Expert Carbon, in November 2020 with zero MTB experience . Today is July4th and I now have 1000 miles under my tires and I absolutely love it ! ,,,, I blew my motor and my local Bike Shop got me the new updated version for free and it took 12 days and then I blew my rear end and they got me the new updated version along with 2 new carbon wheels for free and it took 12 days , so I'm happy with the brands. The motor made uphill fun and suddenly I became a downhill rider . Now that I have some experience, I feel like I want a 27.5 on the rear and more travel up front . The 2022 comes stock like this so it must be a good idea, I just want to make sure my frame will like the adjustment. I would love some thoughts on this please ? ? ?
Thanks, please make more vids. Went with the x2 total transformation way more plush. After a couple hard rides bottom outs the bike won’t shift well, shop took it apart increased travel pinched the shift cable. I’m 300lb system weight riding
Thank you Marshall!! Just tried you setting on the x2 and my bike came alive! Thank you for this vid and all the rest for that matter! Love to know your setting for the front. I’m running a fox 36 factory grip 2 up front.
This is so helpful! Thank you! I've been looking for ways to butter up my Levo since I rode my buddy's Santa Cruz Heckler. His bike was soooooo much smoother coming down rock bumpy compared to my Levo that I realized I needed to upgrade my suspension. And because I wasn't sure where to start I went with the fork first. Went with the lyric in red. But now I'm thinking about upgrading the shock to the X2. Maybe I should have replaced the shock first. It came and still has the Rockshox Deluxe Select, the most basic shock Rockshox makes, and it's not bad. But after getting your take on "this" shock on "this" bike, I'm seriously considering upgrading!! Can I ask what fork you are running? Anyway, good to know that a 55mm stroke works too! Thanks again!
Why do you say not to put it on the Kanevo? it comes stock on Kanevo SL S-Works... Thanks for the video, I'm just about to upgrade the shock on my Levo SL Comp and this was very helpful
Extremely helpful but I’m 6 foot 220 pounds and even at 300psi I couldn’t get it to 20% sag. Also set it up buy the fox guide just because your numbers and there numbers were not even close so I just don’t wanna run the risk of screwing this shock up. If you have any advice be sure to comment. Thanks again tho shock definitely looks good lmao
Marshall, Thanks for the great review. I’ve watched this 4 times already and after 4 months of waiting to get this shock it finally arrived! I’ve written down all your tuning specs and have just 1 question. I am 180 with gear and was wondering if you could suggest what starting points I could use to setup my shock. Thanks for your help.
Hi Jerry, Very cool You got it! You will love it. I would start with the settings I have, but maybe add approx 40 psi in the shock, and slow down the rebound about 1 click on each knob. So turn them clockwise 1 click. Give that a try first.
I don't think it would be dangerous, however I wouldn't recommend it. I think it will mess with the geometry too much, and it will not be good for the bike. I would stick with 160.
Hey Marshall, thanks for the informative video, very helpful. I've been looking at this shock for my levo sl & watched this clip 3 or 4 times ! Have you any comments how this compares to the Push elevensix ? I hear what you're saying about coils, just wondered if the push was any different being more bike specific ? Many thanks
Thanks for the video Marshall. Questions: a) with the 55mm stroke, did you have to change the flip chip position? B) Do you use it in high or low? C) can you comment on the DPX2? Thanks
Marshall, Thanks so Much for the quick response it's so helpful. Just a few more questions, I cant find any feedback on the "E optimized" fork. I believe you're running the Fox 38 x 160 mm ? Is your shock "E optimized"? Do you recommend running the E optimized or not? Again thanks for your help. a week ago I actually had these in my cart and purchased. Then read 100 more articles for and against, questioned my decision and canceled the order the next day. Getting your feedback really helps and I do appreciate it.
I dont know what you could hear that is bad about it! As long as it is tuned right and set at the right travel you will LOVE it. The E optimized is great, but dont sweat it if you cant find one. The standard will due just fine!
Marshall, A couple of questions 1. I want to put the X2 in the 210 x 55 on my 2020, G2, expert as you are suggesting. But I just watched your review on the Gen3 and you are indicating that you need to send the X2 shock back to fox for re-tuning because it doesn't have the same feel as the X2 on your Gen2. Is this because the geometry is different on the G3 or did fox tune the shock different from 2021 to 2022? Should I get the 2021 in lieu of the 2022? 2. Also hoping you'll do a review on the Fox 38? Im real interested in upgrading the stock 36 performance to the 38 factory but I am seeing in many reviews they are extremely harsh and others review they are plush. Im 185 lbs but It seams like the comments of plushness are coming from the guys that are 200lbs and up. Can you give us your review of the 38 and your tuning advise for it? The way you explained the Tuning on the X2 was so helpful. Thanks again
1. The factory tune just has a slightly higher compression tune on it. So unless you are a very light rider, the tune will be fine. I have one shock at factory, and one with a lighter tune. They are very similar. I would stick with the factory unless you feel it is too much. 2. 38 review is a good idea! The 38 is very plush, I like the fork a lot. It feels similar to the 36, just has more stiffness to it. Also I believe a little bigger air changer which helps.
Hi newbie here to your channel great vid by the way have a question for you? Does the shock fit straight out the box or does it require a fitting kit? If so what size kit will be needed? Sorry if this has already been asked
Hey Marshall thanks for the video... not sure you know my Channel Sam's Bikes ? I'm riding a SL and loving it but defo thinking about getting the X2 what other hardware do I need as far as bushings? Thanks speak soon! Sam
Sam, just installed this to my Levo Comp. No need for other hardware just transfer the one from your SL. Then pair it with fork Fox 38 170mm 👌 it's a day and night different.
Hi Marshal, great vid and info. Ok SL and Levo, with this X2 shock can you mullet both bikes ok and have you tried yet, if so what’s the ride results. Or maybe something to try out soon, I am sure everyone would love to see the results. 🤘do like your Kenevo. With some shots of both bikes side on to see how they look. What forks on the SL.🤙
So Marshall I'm a little concerned. I have a 2020 Levo Comp and I weigh about 200lbs, I'm running over 300psi to get to 25% sag on the Float X2. I'd like to run front and back at 20%. Should I be concerned running that much psi in the Float X2? Your advice would be much appreciated.
Great info Marshall! I want to fit one of these on my 2018 aluminum Levo but the lower shock mount is different ( no eyelet) than most shocks. Can it be adapted to work?
Yes, you can. I have done it and it works very well. You have to get a new piece from "Bike Yoke". They make a new shock mount that fits a standard shock.
Love the X2 upgrade, thanks for the video. . . I'm changing the 150 pike out on my 2019 Levo Expert and I'm trying to decide between Fox Factory 36 "E" 160 / Fox Factory 38 160 / Fox Factory 38 170 / leaning toward 160 over the 170 but have friends who love the 170. I'm 6'4 250lb if that helps, from what I've read it seems the "E" specific 36 has thicker bottoms which seems to be more like a regular 38, not sure. Also, it looks like Specialized switch from 51 to 44 rake after 2019, do you know if the geometry changed, I tend to think it stayed the same . . . all are available so curious what you would recommend . Thanks for any input
Good Choices. I would recommend the 38 at 160. That is what I have. E or not, both are very good. You will be stoked! They did change the offset. Its not a huge difference to notice anything. Doesn't really matter
Thanks for the review. Are you familiar with the Cascade Components link for the Gen2 Levo which provides more progression? I have a Levo Comp '21 with stock Fox Rhythm shock which is fine although I am interested in upgrading for "more goodness". I am curious if you have an opinion on which would be better first step, either the Float X2 shock, or a Cascade Components X2 shock? Thanks.
Front fork question: what fork do you have on your Levo sl? Think I heard on another video Fox Factory 36 160mm? 51 or 44 off set? Do you know the new head tube angle 📐? Love you videos too mate.
I just put lyrik ultimate 160mm, 51mm offset.. it has completely changed the ride. Many people drop to a 44mm offset, honestly unless you're a PRO, you won't notice any difference.
I don't understand why you wouldn't get a 2.5mm official fox spacer installed. Its intended use is for those in between 2.5mm sizes. For the price paid for an X2, a tiny fraction extra can get you *exactly* the right stroke length, so you can continue to use the bike to the same geo/spec as designed for, and don't risk frame damage.
Thanks for the video, can I use a normal fork on my Levo SL, ord does it has to be "E optimized"?. Also, some pages don't recommend to go to 36 and keep it to34 because it was intended to be the way. Please help!
Marshal, I’m planning on upgrading my rear shock and the big question that I can’t find is... what rear shock hardware do I use? The rear mount is for the flip chip and the top mount is for the upper standard bracket and I can’t find the correct size bushings and specs to order. Any help would be fantastic!
@@MarshallMullen1 as it turns out I ordered a 6mm x 20mm for the upper and nothing for the lower. I had to press out the bushing for the lower to allow the offset to work. @@MarshallMullen1 you are not recommending anything. You are just pushing your sponsors kit. Ex DH racer who tunes suspension said to me that he's never sold a DHX2 over an ohlins coil because why would you buy that over ohlins...
Your video with the bassist from Rage sole me on the Levo now this just sold me on the shock. I need to stay away from you 😂 jk keep up the good work I don't mind spending money on cool stuff!
Thank you very much, I was actually looking for something like that. Which fork would you recommend combined with the X2? Is it viable to run a 160mm without messing up the geo?
Great video! I’m attempting to fit a Float X2 on my 2020 Turbo Levo Sworks. Seems like I need a 6mm x 20mm bushing kit but I can’t find one anywhere. What am I doing wrong?
Hi Marshall Thanks for your useful video! I have a 2016 Levo Turbo with the old Fox Float DPS stock and I think it's starting to leak some oil. Before I now spend ~300 USD for a service (yes that's about what it costs in my country) for this nearly 5 year old shock, would your recommendation for the X2 in size 210x55 still be valid for my old bike?
No, the 2016 model uses a different shock. It needs a custom end to it, so you cannot pu the x2 on it. I think the Float is the best bet. Maybe just Get a new one? But it needs to be for a specialized
can you comment to the 2021 vs 2020 difference that you feel on trail? What’s improved in your opinion? Also, with the 55mm stroke are you seeing any touching on from either the linkage or the shock yoke on the chainstay on the SL? I can get my chainstay to just touch at full bottom out with the shock yoke. Curious what “gap” you see if possible
Both shocks are really good. The new 2021 is a bit more sensitive, and feels like it has better control. But the 2020 is still really good. I don't have any rubbing or touching at all with the 55. Im not sure the "gap" but it works fine.
So for 2021 Levo SL, the part number will be (210 mm x 55 mm): 979-01-068 correct? What else do I need to buy in order to fit this? Any other adapter or parts required??
Can you use this on the stumpjumper comp alloy 27.5? My rear shock measures 210x52.5? I have been really wanting tonupgrade my rear suspension but this is the dilemma that I am having. Hope you can help me with this. Thank you! 😊
Thank you Marshall for all information. Is your Fox Float X2 shock recommendation valid for 2019 Turbo Levo FSR(aluminum frame, NOT carbon) ? If yes which factory fork(Fox or Rockshox) would you recommend to match with Fox Float X2 shock? Thank you in advance.
Marshall, Ebike specific forks are not a must have for a turbo levo so, the "normal" factory 36 in 160mm is enough robust or do you recommend rather fox factory 38 in 160mm for my 2019 turbo levo fsr(base model in aluminum frame)? I have 95kg(210lb).
Hi Marshall, you said you also use old X2 in your bikes. What psi you riding in old x2 on Turbo Levo? I also have it on mine 2020 turboLevo and I need to put about 250psi to have 30% of sag. I think there is something wrong with my shock. My weight 80kg
question...if i wanna change my tires to fat tires, at least 3.0, in my levo , do i change the rims and sizes for it ? from 29 to 27.5 for example and also what kind of front forks and back suspension should i change it to make it possible?, thanks
You can change the rims to 27.5, but you might not need to. I know some companies make a 3.0 29" tire. I am not sure if it will fit in the rear with the 29" but there is a good chance it will. You don't need to change suspension at all! this setup will work great 👌🏼
So why won’t it fit to a kenevo I’ve seen bikes with it on and would you know what hardware mounts you would need as I’m looking at putting one on mine waiting for a replacement on my bomber still
The frame gets in the way of the float X2 on the Kenevo. But sometimes it does work. It has a very slight rub to it, so it isn't perfect but it is possible. The hardware should be the same of the original shock. Just move it over

I would not increase your eye to eye. However, you could use the flip chip and change it to the high setting. This will do the same thing as increasing your eye to eye. 160mm fro is great! I run mine at 160mm!
@@MarshallMullen1 and yet 55mm stroke works fine for hundreds of riders. You forget that 52.5mm is a custom size which nobody makes. Also why do you not flag your videos as promoted content?

Thanks.
Do your really feel the difference to the custom shock when you’re on trail?? Thinking about that upgrade also
Looks like we can now buy a 52.5. So if I am upgrading my Levo std shock should I go 52.5 or 55? Appreciate your feedback.
Thank you. With the Levo having mounting eyes perpendicular to each other, is there a certain way to make sure you get the right layout? Thanks.
you just twist the piston so the eyelets line up .
@@MTB_FPV thanks mate, i did the same expect Fox suspension. Thanks for the reply and helping me out.
Also Marshal I see the 2022 model also has 210 52.5 and 210 55. Which one would you recommend? Still the 210 55?
I don't understand why you wouldn't get a 2.5mm official fox spacer installed. Its intended use is for those in between 2.5mm sizes. For the price paid for an X2, a tiny fraction extra can get you *exactly* the right stroke length, so you can continue to use the bike to the same geo/spec as designed for, and don't risk frame damage.
great content Marshall. Is it possible to fit a water bottle in the SL with the X2? Thx
yes! You need to use a smaller bottle, I had to get an extra small bottle, but it fits. The range extender also fits fine with the X2.
Thank you
Thanks for the video, can I use a normal fork on my Levo SL, ord does it has to be "E optimized"?. Also, some pages don't recommend to go to 36 and keep it to34 because it was intended to be the way. Please help!
You can use a normal fork, the ebike one is just stiffer. I say 36 is better! it doesn't hurt and it just makes it stronger.
Just use the same ones from the original shock! press them out, and put them in the new shock. It will work perfect
@@MarshallMullen1 as it turns out I ordered a 6mm x 20mm for the upper and nothing for the lower. I had to press out the bushing for the lower to allow the offset to work.
Thanks for responding and was that you crushing it on the EMBN press release of the new LEVO?... SICK BIKE!

Hi Marshall, can you please make a video about the kenevo? i bought it few days ago and i want to change my rear suspension.
Thanks for the good idea! I will do that. In the meantime, I would recommend the Fox DHX coil X2
@@MarshallMullen1 you are not recommending anything. You are just pushing your sponsors kit. Ex DH racer who tunes suspension said to me that he's never sold a DHX2 over an ohlins coil because why would you buy that over ohlins...
@@mattx4253 WOW, it's his channel his own recommendation or pushing his own sponsor. Ask you ex-DH to make his own channel and push his own ohlins.
What hardware/bushing you use? Whats the size for levo sl comp?
Your video with the bassist from Rage sole me on the Levo now this just sold me on the shock. I need to stay away from you 😂 jk keep up the good work I don't mind spending money on cool stuff!
HA! thats funny. Well thanks for watching. You will not be disappointed at all if you listen to me !
Best shock for intermiddiate riders too? good intermediate!
This one is still good, but if you wanted something a little cheaper, you could get the performance version of this shock. The black one
@Marshall Mullen great content! I'm getting the X2 for my Turbo Levo (not SL) which mounting hardware do I need, if any? Thanks!
Also have you tried the new DHX2 on the Levo? Wondering if I shouldn't just go "all the way"...
FOX IGUS Bushing 6mm x 20mm (0.787)
Thank you very much, I was actually looking for something like that. Which fork would you recommend combined with the X2? Is it viable to run a 160mm without messing up the geo?
160mm is good! thats what I recommend. I like the Fox 36 or 38 with the float x2 best
@@MarshallMullen1 a vid like this for the 38 would be money.
Can you give a shock reccomendation for a shock , turbo levo alloy comp, 255 lb rider ??
Great video! I’m attempting to fit a Float X2 on my 2020 Turbo Levo Sworks. Seems like I need a 6mm x 20mm bushing kit but I can’t find one anywhere. What am I doing wrong?
Think I figured it out....just order a new DU bushing for the fox and use the Rockshox spacers and sleeve?
@@8877slp That should work. I actually don't Leo too much about the bushing set up
Hi Marshall
Thanks for your useful video!
@@MarshallMullen1 Thanks for the quick reply, very appreciated!
can you comment to the 2021 vs 2020 difference that you feel on trail?
Would it also be possible to go from 50 to 52,5 instead of 55 ??? I hope so, as I ordered it in 50 😅
Did I hear you right? Do you sett up the bike with only 20% sag in the back? Normaly is 30 isn`t it?
Hi can you tell me what your setting were for the 2020 X2 please
I love the X2 on my SL but now I’ll have to modify my drink holder because the small canister on the shock interferes with my range extender
Thats weird, mine fits in no problem. What size frame are you?
@@MarshallMullen1 large
But my X2 is from 2018
@@JWO1965 Same with me. Make sure your water bottle is slid all the way down. it has a little bit of adjustment
@@MarshallMullen1 it is...maybe the holes were cut differently I was going to shim the bottom out and change the angle a bit
Can you use this on the stumpjumper comp alloy 27.5? My rear shock measures 210x52.5? I have been really wanting tonupgrade my rear suspension but this is the dilemma that I am having. Hope you can help me with this. Thank you! 😊
Levo FSR 2018 comes with a 197 x 48 Rockshox Monarch RT, I have been thinking in upgrading it but I can’t find anything that will fit, any advice?
Thank you Marshall for all information.
Is your Fox Float X2 shock recommendation valid for 2019 Turbo Levo FSR(aluminum frame, NOT carbon) ?
If yes which factory fork(Fox or Rockshox) would you recommend to match with Fox Float X2 shock?
Thank you in advance.
I refer the fox fork to go with the shock. The fox fork and shock will both work best when matched together. good question
Marshall, Ebike specific forks are not a must have for a turbo levo so, the "normal" factory 36 in 160mm is enough robust or do you recommend rather fox factory 38 in 160mm for my 2019 turbo levo fsr(base model in aluminum frame)?
I have 95kg(210lb).
kenevo which one?
can i still use the rangeextender with this rear shock?
does Float X2 also fits Stumpjumper 29? Thanks
I put a X2 210 x 55 on my 29er evo
Hi i have a question does the fox float x2 210x52.5 fit on the turbo levo expert 2020?
Hi Marshall, you said you also use old X2 in your bikes. What psi you riding in old x2 on Turbo Levo? I also have it on mine 2020 turboLevo and I need to put about 250psi to have 30% of sag. I think there is something wrong with my shock. My weight 80kg
Good question. The PSI for the old X2 is about the same. That sounds right. 250psi is similar to mine
@@MarshallMullen1 ok thank. I hope it's not blow off :)
Hello, have you tried the Fox DHX2 for the Levo?
I have. I works very good! Thats a good shock
I wonder if works on my stump comp 27.5?
Forgive me if you stated this in your video but will a 210x55 fit onto a MEDIUM levo turbo 2020 model? Without the seat tube hitting? Thanks buddy
I haven't tried it on a medium, but im sure it will fit fine. The frames aren't really that different in that regard
Does the stock shock mounting hardware work in the new fox shock or will I have to order new hardware
The stock hardware works fine, but you may have to press the steel bushing out of the eye on the bottom of the shock to get the flip chip in, I had to
Won’t the 55 be too long when you fully bottom out the bike damaging the shock?
He said no...
question...if i wanna change my tires to fat tires, at least 3.0, in my levo , do i change the rims and sizes for it ? from 29 to 27.5 for example and also what kind of front forks and back suspension should i change it to make it possible?, thanks
You can change the rims to 27.5, but you might not need to. I know some companies make a 3.0 29" tire. I am not sure if it will fit in the rear with the 29" but there is a good chance it will. You don't need to change suspension at all! this setup will work great 👌🏼
Does RE fits when x2 on?
Is that turquoise thing a cover for the side arm at second 23? My Levo 2021 doesn't have one of these. Where can i get one?
That is just paint! 😂 Just a paint over the carbon.
The alloy bikes dont have this
So no water bottle with this shock?
Hey Marshall what shock mounts do I need for a 2019 Kenevo to do a fox float x2
I don't believe that a float x2 fits on the 2019. I think you have to wait until the 2020 year to be able to put a fox shock on it.
Also - do you run any positive or negative chamber volume spacers? Thanks for the video!
Good question. Yes, I have one positive volume spacer
Will going with a 160mm fork and 210x55 rear shock void warranty of the frame?
no
Fox x2 2022 in a spz levo sl alloy?
So why won’t it fit to a kenevo I’ve seen bikes with it on and would you know what hardware mounts you would need as I’m looking at putting one on mine waiting for a replacement on my bomber still
The frame gets in the way of the float X2 on the Kenevo. But sometimes it does work. It has a very slight rub to it, so it isn't perfect but it is possible. The hardware should be the same of the original shock. Just move it over
Dude... What color combo is your Levo? Is that a custom color?
It is the black with white stickers!
Hi Marshall, with X2 does the range extender still fits?
Same question. Will an extender or water bottle fit?
Yes, good question. It does fit no problem.
@@MarshallMullen1 , Hi !
Just to notice that the Fox X2 in a Levo SL ( frame size ( S ) small , with the range extender didn’t fit .
I tray it in my levo SL expert carbon and didn’t fit at beginning .
To fit I have to put the bottle cage about a few mm below.... its posible to do it but it’s needed to do a small alteration to make the bottle cage fit a little below because of the small size frame.
Marshal , you have mentioned your personal setting for the new 2021 Fox X2 !!
I have the previous version of the Fox X2 , please can you tell me the setting for that one . .???
Thanks and cheers
How much does it cost?
Hey man i have a 2019 stumpy carbon comp 27.5 i have the same size shock 210x52.5 stock and i want to upgrade to the x2 and same as you i can only find it in 210x50 and 210x 55 do you think its the same case in my bike ? I heard that you shouldn’t change the stroke but im not sure , i really want to upgrade to the x2
It should work no problem! The difference is so slight, it will be fine 👍🏼
Thanx man . Should i add volume spacers or leave it as is
@@agustinherrera5600 I leave mine as is!
Would this be the same for the Levo ebike? Mine's a 2018 (carbon expert model)
This is the levo. Do you mean a different model?
Sweeeeet 👍, but I just gonna get new gen3
Is it ok if I install slightly longer eye to eye shock to convert Levo SL to 27.5...also 160mm travel Fork..

25% sag. psi 250, spacer 0.6, rebound on the lowest/slowest/close and still too fast. any advice?

30 is fine too, but on this bike you will probably be bottoming it out a lot at 30. somewhere between 20 and 30 is good
