It's true he loved his audience, to make someone laugh is to bring life to them. His audience was very lively indeed. Making both young and old a little happier to be alive
I can tell you that, I interviewed him during his last show in Canada - he was every bit as marvelous as you think he is - an amazing, wonderful and funny man. Very intelligent and very, very caring. One of the most amazing people I have ever met.
My mom would record his skits on the vhs when ever it was aired on tv. I was really young when it came on, I would watch it sometimes, mostly not fully getting the jokes, I look back now at age 23 and I can't help but chuckle.
Red was an amazing man, I had the joy of interviewing him during his last show in Canada - an amazing, intelligent, compassionate and funny man. One of the truly amazing memories of my life.
Red Skelton has always been one of my favorites. I watched this and laughed OMG! Did I laugh. Tom Mullica in Branson, MO...comes about as close to Red Shelton as it comes....This is 2013 and Mr. Skelton is just as funny today as yesterday....OH yeah!! It clean comedy for the family.
Wow i love Red.. is just amazing .... unbelievable I have to take a 2nd listen, i can't believe what i herd the first time. or felt ... if she let you do that don;t you know... Doyen
God bless Red. Skelton. He was a wonderful entainer. He could probably make those Jackasses in D.C laugh. Only a great comedian like red that would make himself laugh can bring 😂 to a world that is full of misery &hate. We don't have ANY more like him😞.Gone is the time, I love Red Skelton, 🎭🎭🇺🇸🇺🇸.
im 18 and other than one or two modern comics I much prefer to watch the ones I never got to enjoy in person or on TV as a kid. Don Knotts, Red Skeleton, etc. I really wish I had been born about 20 years earlier.
He got his comedic career started right here in Toronto,Canada. He was called the Canadian Comic, something like that...then after he became more established he returned to the states.True fact.
"You knew I wasn't Richard Burton!" He can do the self-deprecation to the hilt. It's all in good fun and folks forget their troubles and themselves if only for awhile.
Sorry, but I realized that Skelton Passed Away a couple of years after the Michael Keaton Batman came out. But Skelton would have made the Perfect Actor to Play Joker.
The best comedy ever was Red Skelton, Carol Burnett, Dean Martin Roasts, Andy Griffith Show, where there was no swearing, filth in anatomy, where is the humor in what they do today. The comedians of yester-year was much funnier, Tim Conway, Don Rickles, Jerry Lewis, I would rather watch the old ones myself.
You do recognize the innuendo here, don't you? Not "filthy" perhaps, but suggestive. Something the kids can watch and not get but the adults get it. Do I have to point it out?
Some of these comments are dumb as hell, sure he's incredibly funny, but it's because his timing is good and the jokes are well crafted. That's way more impressive than the fact that he has a clean act... Lots of comics today who are filthy are just as funny for the same reason.
GOD BLESS Red Skeleton their will never be any one like him again for those of lucky enough to have watched his shows were lucky.
Red Skelton was a master. The world is running out of these masters.
YES YOUR RIGHT.
"writ, wrote, rotten" - what a wonderful and self-deprecating man. He enjoys his show maybe as much as his audience.
It's true he loved his audience, to make someone laugh is to bring life to them. His audience was very lively indeed. Making both young and old a little happier to be alive
I love this man's comedy..... he was one of a kind... RIP Red

I grew up watching his show. I loved him then and still now. There would never be another show like that. Good family comedy fun.
Such a sweet, innocent heart. So much love for this man. Thank you, Red, for your sweetness.
Brings a tear because he is missed so much.

Brought tears to my eyes as I remembered this show as my Mom and I watched it and laughed for years.

I was there that night with my Mom. What a treat! Grew up watching his show! Only night I was allowed to stay up until 8pm!
As a child I was allowed to stay up Tuesday nights for the Red Skelton Show! Am so blessed to have seen Red perform at Roy Thompson Hall! Wonderful!
Red Skelton was a true comedy genius. It just goes to show you that you don't have to be filthy to be funny. Thanks for posting.

@prossfoster - I agree with you. It takes REAL TALENT to be funny without being dirty. Today's so-called "comics" can't do it.
Jim Gaffigan is one of the current few who can. He is not as versatile as Red, but in this day and age he is very funny without being filthy.
@@johnvinga5446 Thank you for the info John. I'll check out some of his video on RUclips, if there are any.
"She won't do housework any week that has Friday in it!" lol
It takes a very intelligent person to rise to his level...
He got his comedic career started right here in Toronto,Canada. He was called the Canadian Comic, something like that...then after he became more established he returned to the states.True fact.

"And about two more verses oughta do it!"
@prossfoster i totally agree with you, and i'm glad someone else shares my view. :)
Ironic he mentions his honorary degree at Ball State. If he were performing today, he'd probably be banned from campuses.

Where did you get this? I have been trying to find this DVD for YEARS!?
Too bad he did not Live long enough to maybe play the Role of Joker in the 1989 Batman Movie with Michael Keaton.
Sorry, but I realized that Skelton Passed Away a couple of years after the Michael Keaton Batman came out. But Skelton would have made the Perfect Actor to Play Joker.
Writ, wrote, uh, rotten. XD

Where in Canada?
wow what was he like in real life?

@prossfoster Therre was only one I didn't mind using feelthy (sp.?) language: Richard Prior

gregkrazanski I guess you just have to appreciate good FAMILY humor

William clark you do not know talent
He's not funny. Profanity does not make a comedian. Timing makes a comedian.
