I was a very young employee at a resort and he treated me and the other employees with loving kindness. No matter who stopped to talk to him, he treated them like close family and made time to finish the conversations. As he stepped away I told him to have a good day and he responded in the same soft voice he used to close his show with, "Have a good day? Son, the day is half over, have a good life!" That was 55 years ago and I remember it like yesterday.

I met him as well between 1977-1982, can't remember exact date. Got my program auto graphed. My father also saw him when he performed at Fort Dix? Just after he enlisted. I read somewhere that he would get up every morning at 4am and write a love poem to his wife. Post script: it wasn't Dix, but base southwest.

He proves comedy does not have to have curse words....the "F" word & cursing God, etc. - nor crude comments - to be funny. God bless you, Red! May you RIP in heaven.

Wendy Dietze isn’t it interesting how Red Skelton, Carol Burnett, and Jerry Seinfeld are a few of the funniest people to ever perform comedy! But sadly the woke crowd finds no humor in their work . The woke crowd destroyed comedy, leaving us with PC humorless comedy, even Seinfeld refuses to work on campuses. All they leave us with is vulgarity and anger !

Red work for years doing physical comedy routines in the Vaudeville circuit. He did so many pratfalls that during his time on TV and touring he needed a cane. He always put it down for his performances. He said he wanted to entertain his audience, not garner their sympathies. Watching this, you'd never know he used a cane.

I live near Red’s hometown of Vincennes Indiana and the father of an old girlfriend worked with him as an usher when they were young and Red would be escorting people to their seats and he would “trip” over an imaginary obstacle and fall flat on his face just to get a laugh.

Red was a tremendous entertainer. He could do it all. He was such a Brilliant man, so much talent all in one person. Music writing, paintings and stories, simply amazing. I saw him live in a 2 hour concert in a place called Circle Star Theatre near San Francisco probably was in the 1990's. A brilliant performance, a non stop performance. God Bless You, Mr Skelton, what an absolute joy you were. 🙏🙏❤❤

Our family took a vacation(car trip) to Calif. in the mid-'70's and stopped in Reno, Nev.. We went to see Mr. Skelton live at The Nugget LIVE. I don't remember anytime - ever- where I've left a venue(theater or nightclub) where my FACE was actually HURTING for have laughed or smiled continually for a hour or more! He had good, clean humor that could be enjoyed by the whole family. He's the best all round comedian the World has ever seen, and I say that without any reservation.

Out of all his success, he violates - with class I might add - the first rule of stand up: NEVER laugh at your own jokes! But he does it, and it plays beautifully, 'cause it just seems so natural. And he does it without a hint of an off-color word or subject matter. I don't mean to sound corny, but it was very family friendly. Nothing wrong with that.
We as a family saw him at John Asquoella's(sp?)Nugget in 1975 in Reno, NV. What a show! It was the only time ever in my life when, after about an hour or so, my entire FACE was hurting from either laughing or grinning for that long. Hats off to a first class act. I don't ever - and I'm 67 - ever remember being so thoroughly entertained...and for so LONG. He was truly one of a kind.
