I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Skelton on the plane I took after my enlistment in 1970 in LA. He was the genuine deal. He listened as well as raised a person's spirit.
I met this gentleman in person and he was genuinely the nicest and most sincere human I've ever met. I was a very young employee at a resort and he treated me and the other employees with loving kindness. No matter who stopped to talk to him, he treated them like close family and made time to finish the conversations. As he stepped away I told him to have a good day and he responded in the same soft voice he used to close his show with, "Have a good day? Son, the day is half over, have a good life!" That was 55 years ago and I remember it like yesterday. Listen to his explanation of the Pledge of Allegiance if you want to understand his insight.
@@bishopaz I met many famous celebrities and he was the only one who was sincere when he smiled, the only one who stopped and took the time to make conversation. He didn't just respond, he fully engaged. He was the guy you would feel comfortable with inviting into your home for a meal and fellowship. He wore his heart on his sleeve. I still smile when I think about him. And although he carried a giant cigar (he was carrying it that day), it was never lit; he said once in an interview that it was his "schtick", his onstage device.

He's got talent not like today!@
To : Dorothy Coker, You are absolutely right about RED SKELTON and I love the way he sways his arm's back and forth like a little kid!! He will be sadly missed by all his loyal fans that love him? He's one of a kind and if all those 113 haters out there, you just don't understand the meaning of laughter, laughter is the best medicine that's out there and you don't even need a doctor's subscription for it, it's totally free of charge? May he rest in peace and I love how he says " And may God bless " ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
